2014 Lincoln Mks problems
The Lincoln MKS is a full-sized luxury sedan that was manufactured and marketed by the Lincoln subdivision of Ford from 2008 to 2016. First shown at the LA Auto Show in November 2007, the MKS began production for the 2009 model year at Ford's Chicago Assembly plant in May 2008 with sales beginning a month later. The MKS was the second Lincoln to adopt the "MK" nomenclature and the first model to wear it through its entire production run. With the discontinuation of the Lincoln Town Car in 2011, the MKS at 205.6-inches in length became the longest production sedan sold by an American automaker through 2016.
Sharing the Ford D3 platform with the fifth and sixth-generation Ford Taurus, the Lincoln MKS offered front-wheel drive with optional all-wheel drive (a first in a full-size Lincoln). Shared with the Taurus SHO, the 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6 became the first turbocharged gasoline engine in a Lincoln.
The Lincoln MKS was discontinued after 2016 and replaced by the tenth generation Lincoln Continental.

In order to get the car stereo working it’s an additional $4,000. From all my research I’m relieved I’m one of many dealing with this recall Lincoln refuses to take responsibility on screwing loyal customers like me. The car retains water in the bottom of door frames. Front collision doesn’t work and it will sometimes go crazy when I’m near car like locking and unlocking car sporadically. I refuse to allow any children to ride in this car due to its unpredictable behavior like it has a mind of its own. Please help me I have Lincoln take full responsibility for their wrongs to help out customers safety like me and many others. 2014 Lincoln Mks recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2014 Lincoln Mks.
- Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with 3.5L GTDI Ecoboost engines and 2013-2015 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor vehicles. A component within the fuel pump electric module (PEM) may overheat causing a loss of electrical power to the fuel pump.
- Consequence: A loss of power to the fuel pump will cause the engine to stall or prevent the vehicle from starting, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel PEM part number and replace the fuel PEM, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on December 1, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S31.
- Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
- Components: POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT
- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles manufactured September 2, 2010, to November 30, 2013; 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured August 25, 2011, to November 30, 2013; and 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles manufactured September 12, 2011, to November 30, 2013. In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.
- Consequence: If the halfshaft and linkshaft become disengaged while driving, power will no longer be transmitted to the wheels, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, if the parking brake is not applied before exiting the vehicle, the vehicle may roll away despite the transmission being placed in 'Park', increasing the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S10.

I've owned my MKS for almost 2 years and 50k miles, and I must say, it's been a great experience. Despite buying it used, I haven't had any major issues. Sure, the infotainment system is a bit slow, but that's not a big deal. I did have a problem with the controller for the HVAC and radio volume, but I was able to find a used part to replace it and haven't had any issues since. The best part is that it's inexpensive to maintain and rides wonderfully. In fact, it costs less to maintain than a Corolla! Ford really hit the nail on the head with this one. I've seen some people on here who have owned an MKS and then switched to a Cadillac, but they soon realized why they loved the MKS so much. Those people are usually short-term owners who don't hold onto their cars for very long. As for me, I look at my car, drive it, and love it. My car is happy, my wallet is happy, and seeing these cars for sale all over with 300k miles or more and still going strong gives me hope that Lincoln is still Lincoln. I used to own 2 Town Cars and a Continental from the 90s and early 2000s, and I can confidently say that nothing beats Lincoln reliability. GO FORD! My next investment will be a Continental from the late 2010s or 2020.
-
Beautiful car! It's fully loaded and the seats even massage your back and rear end.
-
You've got the black on black with wood trim. That's very classy! It's great to hear that you're still loving it in 2020, and with under 25,000 miles on it, it sounds like it's been well taken care of with regular maintenance at Lincoln. It's a solid car!
-
This has been a surprisingly nice car! It's exactly what you would expect from Lincoln. However, there are a couple of issues. The Sync system is terrible and the radio turns up and down for no reason. Unfortunately, Ford no longer supports the Health Report, so there is no way to know if there is anything wrong with the car.
-
Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my 2013 MKS that comes with navigation and Bluetooth. Unfortunately, I've been having some trouble with the navigation system freezing in the middle of directions or not being able to provide directions at all. After contacting Lincoln, I was informed that there is a known issue with the software of the iPhone and the Lincoln Sync system. They are currently working on a solution and hope to have it resolved by the end of the summer. I've owned Lincolns with navigation in the past and never had any issues, so this new system has been a bit frustrating. Thanks for listening!

I own a 2011 MKS with the 3.5 Ecoboost. While it is a comfortable car for my family of four, I have had some issues with it. The brakes wear out quickly and the motor went in the steering column, requiring a replacement. The brake booster also went out, which took a few trips to the shop to identify. However, I recently invested in a set of carbon ceramic Powerstop brakes, which have greatly improved the car's day-to-day functionality. The timing chain was also replaced, which is a common problem with the 3.5 engine. Other issues I have experienced include ball joints, control arm, tie rods, rattling speakers, and sunroof leaks into the rear door. Overall, I would recommend considering a Lexus instead of an American-made car. Thank you for considering my experience.
Pete Stiedemann 2024-05-11
I noticed that the ride can be a bit rough and the steering can be difficult at times. Additionally, I found that the driver's seat could benefit from tilting further down as my legs tend to get numb on shorter trips of around 100 miles. I believe the rough ride may be due to the type of tires used, as they tend to ride harder. Lastly, I think it would be more comfortable for longer trips if the steering wheel had an open bottom. Overall, I hope these suggestions can help improve your driving experience.
