The Lincoln LS is a four-door, five-passenger luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by Ford's Lincoln division over a single generation from 1999 until 2006. Introduced in June 1999 for the 2000 model year, the LS featured rear-wheel drive and near 50/50 weight distribution and was available with a V8 or V6, the latter initially offered with a manual transmission. The LS aimed to provide a blend of luxury and sport to attract a new generation of buyers to the Lincoln brand.

The LS shared the Ford DEW98 platform with the Jaguar S-Type and the Ford Thunderbird. Trim levels ranged from the base V6 model to the Special Edition V8 LSE trims in 2004, with revised front and rear fascia, taillights and foglights, and front grille.

LS models were manufactured at Ford's Wixom Assembly Plant until production ended on April 3, 2006, and the plant was idled as part of Ford's The Way Forward. Approximately 262,900 were manufactured, including 2,331 with manual transmissions and 1,500 LSE editions.

I WALKED ALONG THE GUARDRAIL AND TO THE REAR OF THE CAR TO VIEW THE LEFT REAR WHEEL. I COULD SEE THAT ALL OF THE TIRE EXCEPT THE SIDEWALLS WERE GONE AND THE RIM WAS BADLY DAMAGED FROM MAKING CONTACT WITH THE PAVEMENT.     I really like this car, but unfortunately I will have to purchase a German vehicle next, perhaps an Audi or MB. Although it is overpriced and has fewer features than a Mercedes-Benz C230 Sport Sedan, the handling is pretty nice. While I am not a big fan of the leather, I have noticed that D Waters is right - my LS blows dust in from both the front and back rows. It might be more appealing to customers if it were called a V6, as the current V8 is not very powerful. The luxury options are quite expensive, and while the exterior may not be the most attractive, the interior is quite nice. Overall, I would recommend considering a BMW 330i or a Mercedes-Benz C280 or Audi A4.

    Car handles fine. Gas mileage needs improvement. This is my first LS, four prior Town Cars, but I would not repeat this purchase again. Unfortunately, the seats are the most uncomfortable I have ever owned. I have had this vehicle for one year and I am in the process of replacing it.

    Congratulations on your new purchase! You got yourself a 2006 Lincoln LS V8 Sport with only 78k miles for an amazing price of $13,000. It's incredible how much value you got for your money, considering that this car was originally sold for $45,000 just three years ago. Even though you were a bit skeptical about the 280 hp V8 engine after driving a 400 hp GTO, it sounds like you're really enjoying the premium interior, sound system, power moonroof, advancetrac, heated/cooled seats, and especially the surround sound. The car is also roomy and provides a comfortable ride. While the throttle may lag a bit in low gears compared to the GTO, the stiff sporty suspension handles nicely and most other performance aspects are as advertised. Overall, it sounds like you made a great choice and I hope you continue to enjoy your new ride!

    I looked at several large sedans, including the ES and GS Lexus, BMW 5, M45 Infiniti, and even a Toyota Avalon. However, I ended up buying the Toyota Avalon after test driving it and falling in love with it. It was silver with a black leather interior and had a premium interior design. The LS was a great value for the money, with rear-wheel drive, balanced suspension, and almost 300hp for plenty of pickup. It also had plenty of headroom, hip and leg comfort for someone over 6 feet tall. The options included air and heated seats, moonroof, smart keys, and more. It was a complete package, except for navigation, but this was the last one on the lot.

    I love this car! The ride is great! I can't believe that this car is being discontinued. This is the kind of car that Ford Motor Co should build around. American luxury that is amazing to drive no matter how you drive! This car is a keeper!
