The Lincoln LS is a four-door, five-passenger luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by Ford's Lincoln division over a single generation from 1999 until 2006. Introduced in June 1999 for the 2000 model year, the LS featured rear-wheel drive and near 50/50 weight distribution and was available with a V8 or V6, the latter initially offered with a manual transmission. The LS aimed to provide a blend of luxury and sport to attract a new generation of buyers to the Lincoln brand.
The LS shared the Ford DEW98 platform with the Jaguar S-Type and the Ford Thunderbird. Trim levels ranged from the base V6 model to the Special Edition V8 LSE trims in 2004, with revised front and rear fascia, taillights and foglights, and front grille.
LS models were manufactured at Ford's Wixom Assembly Plant until production ended on April 3, 2006, and the plant was idled as part of Ford's The Way Forward. Approximately 262,900 were manufactured, including 2,331 with manual transmissions and 1,500 LSE editions.

- Summary: We have owned this car for about 3 years and it has been one problem after another and see same problems on line 1) Will start over heating sometimes at idle sometimes while driving (try being in DFW rush hour traffic and deal with that 2) Wife was driving one day and a bolt on right lower control arm broke sending her across 4 lanes of traffic including on coming. 3) All of a sudden when brake pedal was depressed started hearing vacuum leak under dash, brake pedal real hard , and couldn't hardly get car to stop, traction control light started flashing. Found bad brake booster and sensor located on it (both unavailable from manufacturer), also found on line that to get light to stop flashing you have to take to dealer and have reprogrammed (nobody else has the ability) 4) Have constantly had problem with check engine light staying on and running rough, no power, and having to replace ignition coils 5) While wife was driving with no advance notice of any kind heading home on farm market road with no shoulder to pull off on transmission went out completely and stopped pulling 6) Rear control arm bushings go from ok to extremely bad causing back end to drift from side to side going down the highway in a blink of an eye 7) Right front sway bar link keeps wearing control arm and snapping stud off 8) Sunroof drain hoses constantly failing and allowing water to get to electrical components The list goes on but all you have to do is a online search of the LS sport with the 3.9 v-8 and see all the problems. I was in automotive for over 16 years and every vehicle generally has its know couple problems but this is way beyond that. There hasn't been any accidents or injuries but real close to it.

The Lincoln LS is a basic transportation vehicle, but it may not offer the same level of luxury as a Cadillac CTS or Audi A6. I owned this car for a year and unfortunately experienced a lot of problems. It tended to rattle quite a bit, had poor mileage, and weak performance. Additionally, the seats started to rip and tear, which is typical for a Lincoln. If you're considering this car, I would encourage you to test drive a 2005 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro and see how you like it. Ultimately, the decision is yours to make. Thanks for reading!

From any angle, it's the best looking car, especially from the front. It's still as solid and quiet as the day I bought it. I recently took my LS to the dealership due to an oil leak problem on my driveway at home. Thankfully, my car is still covered by warranty with only 44500 miles. The service advisor quickly determined that a recall item (hose) needed replacement. However, upon leaving the dealership, I noticed another oil leak. I immediately returned to the service advisor and pointed it out. He explained that it was just a run off after topping off other fluid levels, but I wasn't convinced. He suggested that I drive it for a few days and return to the dealership if the oil continued to leak. Unfortunately, after a week, there was still an oil puddle on my driveway.

Hi there! I just wanted to share with you that I bought this car back in 2004 when it only had 20,000 miles on it. I have absolutely loved it ever since! It's such a sporty car and looks so pretty when it's all cleaned up. The V-8 engine makes for wonderful performance. I did some research online and found that some new 6-cylinder cars don't even get the same mpg that I do with this one (19 in the city and 26 on the highway).

In the short 6 months that I have owned this vehicle, I have had to replace 3 coils and the radiator fan. Additionally, the road noise is quite loud and can be distracting. I purchased the car with 82000 miles and unfortunately experienced some issues within 4 months and 3000 miles, including 3 engine coils, a steering pump, an AC switch, and a park brake. This car has had several issues with its transmission, window motors, air conditioning valves, thermostats, water container, and center control console. Unfortunately, the chrome around the door handles is also peeling off and control buttons are falling off. Despite these challenges, I am confident in my assessment that this car is not up to the standards that I expect from a vehicle of this price. In my experience, Ford's customer service has not been satisfactory and they have not stood behind their product. When I had to replace the thermostat twice in two months, Ford claimed that it was not covered under warranty and was considered preventative maintenance. I believe that this car is not worth the investment and would not recommend it to others.

I tested Jaguar, BMW and the CTS before purchasing this car. Despite my hopes for a luxury vehicle that would provide 100-200K trouble-free miles, I have been extremely disappointed with this car. It has required two transmission jobs, been hauled twice on a flatbed to the dealer due to starting issues, and has had problems with the emergency brake sticking and the headliner falling down around the top roof braking light. Unfortunately, these issues have been ongoing and very frustrating. The dealer eventually provided me with an extended warranty for 70k miles, but the car has still spent over 7 weeks in the shop. Based on my experience, I will not be purchasing another Ford or Lincoln product.

At first glance, this seems like a great vehicle. However, after a while, some issues started to appear. The throttle body had to be replaced, an exhaust bracket broke, and the tires had to be replaced due to imbalance. Additionally, there were some problems with the rear suspension and the interior door trim was loose and creaky. The heat/AC vent fan is also whining, but the dealer says it's normal. Despite these issues, when the car is not in the shop, it is a great car. If you are considering purchasing one, it might be a good idea to opt for the extended warranty!
