2005 Lincoln Ls problems
The Lincoln LS is a four-door, five-passenger luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by Ford's Lincoln division over a single generation from 1999 until 2006. Introduced in June 1999 for the 2000 model year, the LS featured rear-wheel drive and near 50/50 weight distribution and was available with a V8 or V6, the latter initially offered with a manual transmission. The LS aimed to provide a blend of luxury and sport to attract a new generation of buyers to the Lincoln brand.
The LS shared the Ford DEW98 platform with the Jaguar S-Type and the Ford Thunderbird. Trim levels ranged from the base V6 model to the Special Edition V8 LSE trims in 2004, with revised front and rear fascia, taillights and foglights, and front grille.
LS models were manufactured at Ford's Wixom Assembly Plant until production ended on April 3, 2006, and the plant was idled as part of Ford's The Way Forward. Approximately 262,900 were manufactured, including 2,331 with manual transmissions and 1,500 LSE editions.

VISIBILITY,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-11-16
- VIN: 1LNHM87AX5Y
- Components: VISIBILITY,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: HAD JUST COME OFF FREEWAY AND PARKED. NOTICED THAT CLIMATE CONTROL WAS BLOWING HOT AIR (EXCESSIVELY). TURNING THE CONTROL TO COOLER SETTINGS JUST INCREASED THE BLAST OF HEAT. THE DUAL SETTING WAS NOT WORKING EITHER AS MOST AIR WAS BEING FORCED TO THE DRIVER SIDE. THE STRANGE THING WAS THAT SHORTLY AFTER THAT, THE PARKING BRAKE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON! .AFTER STOPPING AND TURNING THE IGNITION OFF AND ON A COUPLE OF TIMES AND ENGAGING AND DISENGAGING THE PARKING BRAKE A COUPLE OF TIMES ALSO, THE PARKING BRAKE SERVICE LIGHT HAS TURNED OFF. IT CAME BACK ON ONCE OR TWICE, REPEATED THE STEPS, AND 'SO FAR' HAS NOT COME BACK ON. BUT THE HEATING/COOLING, OR LACK OF COOLING IS STILL A PROBLEM EVEN THROUGH ALL CONTROLS SEEM TO BE OPERATING PROPERLY, INCLUDING THE PASSENGER SIDE TEMP CONTROL IS OPERATIONAL BUT DOES NOTHING AS FAR AS HEATING AND COOLING. AT FIRST IT SEEMED COINCIDENTAL FOR BOTH THE CLIMATE ISSUES AND THE PARKING BRAKE ISSUES TO OCCUR AT THE SAME TIME. BUT AFTER A SEARCH OF THE WEB TURNED UP OTHER PEOPLE REPORTING SIMILAR 'COINCIDENCES' OF THE SAME COMBINATION OF PROBLEMS AND THEN FINDING TWO COMPLAINS ON THIS SITE THAT ALSO REPORT THE SAME BASIC INFORMATION, I NO LONGER BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE COINCIDENTAL BUT MAY IN FACT RELATED. IN BOTH COMPLAINTS, 10305448 AND 14499467, THEY TALK OF THE BRAKING BRAKE SERVICE LIGHT AND OR ISSUES WITH THE BRAKE ACTUALLY ENGAGING WITH ONE ALSO MENTIONING THE BLASTING OF ONLY HEAT OUT OF THE DUCTS. I FIND IT VERY INTERESTING AND POSSIBLY WORTHY OF NOTICE AS THE DEALERS IN BOTH COMPLAINTS RELATE THE CAUSE TO INTERFERENCES BETWEEN THE COMPONENTS, THE PARKING BRAKE ELECTRONICS AND THE DUAL COOLANT CONTROL VALVE. *TR

I've owned this car for just over 4 years and have had no problems with it. I'm very diligent about maintaining my vehicles, and that's all I've had to do. Everything is still working well at 81,000 miles, and I love the way it handles, rides, and accelerates! It's good enough on gas for me, getting around 20 mpg in town and 25-26 mpg on the highway. Plus, it's beautifully styled, making you feel beautiful driving it. It turns heads! If Lincoln ever reintroduces it, I'll definitely buy it again.
-
Purchased with 13K on it, coming off lease. Great price as these cars don't hold their value. It's a great value if you plan on driving it for 10 years like I do. It's definitely a bang for the buck, much better than comparable BMW, Acura, Lexus and Mercedes products. I'm very happy with this product so far.
-
I love the look and feel of this car. It handles and performs very well. Although I didn't buy it for the gas mileage, it still exceeded my expectations even when driving around town (14-15mpg). I must admit, as a man of my size (6'3

I haven't found much to dislike about my LS. It has all the power I need and more. I think it looks very sporty for a four-door car. I also appreciate how well it handles.
-
You've found yourself a great deal on a luxury car! It's got fantastic handling and acceleration. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. By the way, I also traded in my 2000 LS Sport with 98000 miles!

I've owned my LS for almost two years now, after upgrading from a Grand Marquis. While the car is priced in the upper 30s, I was not impressed with my experience. The front tires (Continentals) began severely cupping at 30,000 miles, and Lincoln would only cover 50% of the replacement cost with Michelins. Additionally, the gas mileage is significantly less than advertised, and there is no backseat room when the driver's seat is fully back. The trunk space is also quite shallow, only accommodating one large suitcase. On the plus side, the V6 provides plenty of power when passing, although it can sometimes lurch when backing up or starting forward. The front seat AC/Heat is a nice feature, and overall the AC system cools well. I had higher expectations for a Lincoln, but I appreciate the features that do work well.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my Lincoln. Unfortunately, I started experiencing some issues with it only 3 months after the manufacturer's warranty expired and with only 46,500 miles driven. I had to replace the ignition coils ($600 aftermarket), the air conditioner ($400), parking brakes, brake rotors, pvc tube, etc. I reached out to Ford-Lincoln several times, but they have not taken responsibility for these issues. After doing some research, I found out that others have experienced similar problems. It's a shame that there hasn't been a recall for these common problems with the Lincoln models. Have you had any similar experiences? Let me know!

I really appreciate the design of this car and it's a blast to drive when it's running smoothly. Unfortunately, it seems to have a lot of issues and repairs are always costly. Recently, I had to spend over three weeks going back and forth between a mechanic and Ford to diagnose a problem with it idling. We ended up replacing all the boots and coils, and it seems to be working fine now. However, I'm still a bit hesitant and worried that more issues may arise. Even our regular mechanic won't work on it. We even tried to sell it, but unfortunately, no one seems interested, despite the fact that the interior and exterior are in excellent condition. As someone who has owned several Fords in the past, I'm starting to question whether I want to purchase another one in the future.
