2009 Lexus Gs 350 recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 3 recalls for different components of the 2009 Lexus Gs 350.
- Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Lexus GS350 and GS450h, 2006-2013 Lexus IS350 and 2010-2014 Lexus IS350C vehicles, equipped with 3.5L V6 2GR-FSE gasoline engines. The diaphragms in the fuel pulsation dampers may harden over time and develop cracks, possibly causing a fuel leak.
- Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel delivery pipe with a new pipe that has improved pulsation dampers, free of charge. The recall began August 23, 2018. Owners may contact Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's number for this recall is JLF.
- Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Lexus LS vehicles manufactured May 9, 2006, to July 20, 2010, 2006-2011 Lexus GS vehicles manufactured January 6, 2005, to September 10, 2010, and 2006-2011 Lexus IS vehicles manufactured August 30, 2005, to September 10, 2010. Due to anti-corrosion plating remnants, fuel may leak from where the fuel pressure sensor is attached to the fuel delivery pipe.
- Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will clean and reseal the fuel pressure sensor mounting area, free of charge. The recall began March 3, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.
- Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Lexus GS350 vehicles manufactured June 19, 2006, through July 12, 2011; and model year 2006-2011 Lexus IS350 vehicles manufactured May 27, 2005, through July 13, 2011; and model year 2010-2011 Lexus IS350c vehicles manufactured November 25, 2009, through July 19, 2011. These vehicles, equipped with the 2GR-FSE engine, use bolts to secure the housing and sprocket of the Variable-Valve Timing (VVT) system gear assembly. These bolts could become loose due to abnormal impacts generated within the gear assembly immediately after a cold start-up.
- Consequence: The loose bolts could cause the VVT gear housing and sprocket to separate and result in the engine stopping while the vehicle is being driven, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and Lexus dealers will replace the VVT unit free of charge. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

I previously owned an 06 and the 08 takes care of the few things that the 06 lacked, such as the horse power! This car runs great, accelerates quickly and can stop on a dime. I have never had a better car. I love the nav and the music systems--they are the best. Definitely the best car for the money!!

I previously owned a Volvo S80 T-6 and then a Volvo S80 V-8 AWD before trading them for the GS350. Although I miss the V-8 growl of the Volvo, I must say that the GS is superior in every regard, and I only sacrificed 8HP. The GS is much easier to live with, having 225 series tires rather than the much softer and lower profile 245's on the Volvo. I loved my Volvo, but I knew everyone in the dealer's service department by name. However, with my GS, I have experienced Lexus reliability. All I need is routine maintenance, and that's it. The GS is fun to drive, corners like a cat, and scoots like a scalded dog.

I recently switched from a 2008 BMW 535i xDrive to the GS350 AWD. Despite being warned by my BMW dealer that I would be disappointed, I have found that everything about this car handles better. While the performance may be slightly less than the 535i, I don't miss it at all. The GS is tighter and the luxury aspect is much better. I have been very impressed with the knowledge and helpfulness of the staff at Lexus of Ann Arbor. This is, without a doubt, the best vehicle I have ever owned. I typically only keep cars for about 2 years, but I am already excited to see what Lexus does to make this vehicle even better. I would strongly recommend it!

I've had the car for just over a year, and I absolutely love it! It has great pick up and is really fun to drive. The navigation system is awesome, and the sound system is okay. However, I have noticed that the service costs are quite high, with some ridiculous items required for scheduled maintenance even before reaching the 20K mileage mark. Additionally, the front brakes have already worn out at only 20K miles, which is disappointing. My previous ES worked great up to 80K miles, so I hope this issue can be resolved. If not, I might consider switching to a BMW next time around...

I drive approximately 2200 miles per month. I was looking for a car with better mileage than my SUV and compared the MB E350, Acura RL, Infiniti M35, and the E320 CDI. Although I had some experience with Toyota products in the past, I kept an open mind. I highly recommend the GS 350. On my first trip, I drove 225 miles and got an impressive 26.5 MPG.

The car has some noticeable issues such as a squeaky dash, occasional coolant smell, and a sulfur smell from the exhaust when the windows are down in the summer. Despite being a nice car, the price and frequency of these issues make it difficult for me to recommend. Additionally, I have found that Lexus dealerships can be dismissive when approached with these issues. Overall, I believe there is room for improvement in both the car and the customer service provided by Lexus.

I have been to the shop 4 times already and have noticed several issues with my vehicle. The rear view mirror vibrates excessively, the heated seats do not provide enough heat even when left on during the summer, and there is a significant amount of brake dust. Despite bringing these issues to the attention of the dealer, they have been unable to fix them or acknowledge that they are problems. Additionally, there is a lot of road noise and the navigation system is subpar. While I understand that this is a 'sports' ride, it should not feel like I am driving a 1987 SUV. Furthermore, callers have complained about the quality of the Bluetooth connection. However, I am confident that these issues can be resolved with the right attention and expertise.

I replaced my BMW 7 with this car because it's basically a Toyota with an L. I've had it for a little over a year and have never had any issues with it. Although it doesn't compare to a BMW or BENZ, both of which I've owned, I got tired of the high repair costs on the Beamer that drove me to this car. It's a very well-made car with tons of cool tech stuff that I'm too busy to learn about. The only downside is that if you're used to BMW or BENZ, this car has a lot more road noise. However, I've learned to live with it because it's super reliable. In fact, we even traded my wife's M-roadster for a Lexus 400 and love that car too.
