The Chevrolet Suburban is a series of SUVs built by Chevrolet since the 1935 model year. The longest-used automobile nameplate in the world, the Chevrolet Suburban is currently in its twelfth generation, introduced for 2021. Beginning life as one of the first metal-bodied station wagons, the Suburban is the progenitor of the modern full-size SUV, combining a wagon-style body with the chassis and powertrain of a pickup truck. Alongside its Advance Design, Task Force, and C/K predecessors, the Chevrolet Silverado currently shares chassis and mechanical commonality with the Suburban and other trucks.

Traditionally one of the most profitable vehicles sold by General Motors, the Suburban has been marketed through both Chevrolet and GMC for nearly its entire production. Along sharing the Suburban name with Chevrolet, GMC has used several nameplates for the model line; since 2000, the division has marketed it as the GMC Yukon XL. Since 2003, Cadillac has marketed the Suburban as the Cadillac Escalade ESV. During the 1990s, GM Australia marketed right-hand drive Suburbans under the Holden brand.

.The Suburban is sold in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, Chile, Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Peru, Philippines, and the Middle East (except Israel), while the Yukon XL is sold only in North America (exclusive to the United States, Canada, and Mexico) and the Middle East territories (except Israel).

A 2018 iSeeCars.com study identified the Chevrolet Suburban as the car that is driven the most each year. A 2019 iSeeCars.com study named the Chevrolet Suburban the second-ranked longest-lasting vehicle. In December 2019, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce unveiled a Hollywood Walk of Fame star for the Suburban, noting that the Suburban had been in "1,750 films and TV shows since 1952."

Common 2011 Gmc Yukon xl 2500 problems

The 2011 GMC Yukon XL 2500 is a full-size SUV that offers spacious seating for up to nine passengers and massive interior space. However, it is not without its common problems, which are primarily related to its design and mechanical components.

One of the most common problems reported by owners of the 2011 GMC Yukon XL 2500 is the portly curb weight, which hampers handling and maneuverability. The vehicle's massive size and weight make it difficult to navigate in tight spaces and around corners, leading to a higher risk of accidents and collisions.

Another common problem reported by owners is the third-row seat, which is bulky and doesn't fold into the floor. This makes it difficult to maximize cargo space when the third row is not in use, and can also make it more challenging to configure the seating arrangement for different passenger needs.

The 2011 GMC Yukon XL 2500 also has a problem with excessive oil consumption, which is especially common in the 2015 model. This issue is not extreme, but it can lead to higher maintenance costs over time as the vehicle requires more frequent oil changes. Sealing the engine won't help fix this problem, and excessive oil consumption can get worse over time. The best solution is to carry the appropriate weight oil with you and check your oil levels regularly to prevent engine damage.

The AC not working properly is another common problem reported by owners of the 2015 Yukon, with the repair being relatively expensive but not unreasonable, at about $1k on average. This issue is more common in the 2015 model compared to other models, and the type of failure can impact the cost of the repair. The 2015 Yukon is somewhat prone to A/C failure, which can be frustrating for drivers and passengers during hot weather.

In addition to these common problems, the 2011 GMC Yukon XL 2500 also has some specific issues related to its steering and suspension components. Shocks or struts, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, alignment, steering linkage (includes rack and pinion), power steering (pumps and hoses, leaks), wheel balance, springs or torsion bars, bushings, electronic or air suspension are all areas where problems can occur. For example, one owner reported that the left front wheel hub bearing needed to be replaced due to age/mileage, which is not a typical DIY repair and would have cost over $500.00 to be done by an auto repair shop.

Overall, the 2011 GMC Yukon XL 2500 is a powerful and spacious full-size SUV that offers many features and capabilities. However, it is important for potential buyers to be aware of the common problems associated with this vehicle, including its portly curb weight, bulky third-row seat, excessive oil consumption, and steering and suspension issues. By understanding these problems, buyers can make informed decisions about whether the 2011 GMC Yukon XL 2500 is the right vehicle for their needs and budget.

This has been ongoing for some time while driving and has required ongoing fuel adjustments. I have received tune-up services, coolant services, fuel services, wheel balancing, and several alignments, which have recently caused significant inconvenience. Routine maintenance has been performed, and the RPM gauge remains constant during operation. Make a unsafe drive.

  • VIN: 1GKS2AE04BR
  • Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: I, like thousands of other GMC owners have been frustrated to no end, having to deal with a cracked and highly unsafe vehicle dashboard. I own a 2011 GMC Yukon and my dashboard has cracked so bad, that it’s not only aesthetically unappealing but it poses a grave danger to myself and all passengers inside. If I were to be involved in an accident and the airbag deploy, it would send shards of hard sharp plastic through our faces. You can imagine how much pressure would be behind those sharp pieces as they embed into someone’s face. GMC owes it to its consumers to recall these dashboards and make it right. I feel GMC is intentionally and wrecklessly placing my family in danger by blatantly refusing to recall this obvious problem. As an American consumer, can you help me with this please? Thank you
