The Daewoo Lacetti is a compact car manufactured and marketed globally by GM Korea since 2002. The first-generation Lacetti was available as a four-door sedan and five-door station wagon, styled by Pininfarina—and five-door hatchback styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro. In 2008, the second-generation Lacetti was launched as the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere, a badge-engineered version of the Chevrolet Cruze, co-developed by GM Daewoo, Holden, and General Motors. It was marketed under the Daewoo marque until the beginning of 2011, when the brand was discontinued, and was thereafter marketed under the Chevrolet and Holden brands.
The name Lacetti derives from the Latin "Lacertus", meaning "youthful".

Other times transmission won't even go into drive have to screw with shifter to get it to go into gear May last for about a mile and jumps back out of gear. HE GRABBED THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT OUT THE FIRE AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. DURING THIS TIME, I WAS IN THE CAB OF THE TOW TRUCK. CAR WAS THEN CONSIDERED A LIABILITY, THEREFOR WAS NOT ALLOWED AT THE TOW TRUCK YARD OR MY APARTMENT COMPLEX. DEALER SERVICE CENTERS ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS PART BREAKS OFTEN AND THEY KEEP EXTRA IN STOCK. THIS ISSUE WILL BEGIN WITH CAUSING VEHICLES TO SHIFT ROUGH AND END WITH VEHICLES NOT BEING ABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF OR INTO PARK. THE AIRBAG AND SEAT BELT LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS THE CUSHION SENSOR AND WILL COST $1500 TO REPLACE. AGAIN, AFTER SPEAKING WITH OTHER SUZUKI CAR OWNERS, THEY TOO HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE. SUZUKI ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR SOME VEHICLES BUT NOT VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN IMPACTED HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND OWNERS ARE BEING CHARGED TO REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE PART. SUZUKI HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THESE ISSUES BY OTHER OWNERS AND HAVE COVERED REPAIR COSTS FOR A FEW, BUT HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES.

- Summary: THE DRL STAYED ON EVEN AFTER THE CAR WAS PARKED AND OFF. I JUST CAME HOME WITH MY SON AND NEWBORN THANK GOD WE WERE NOT IN THE CAR. THE CAR STARTED SMOKING WHICH CAUSED A FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME OUT, INVESTIGATED AND LOOKED UP RECALLS AND MY CAR WAS ON THE LIST THE SAME THING HAPPENED, ON THE LEFT SIDE. NOW MY CAR IS RUINED! I HOPE SUZUKI WILL BE REPLACING MY CAR!

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 1 recalls for different components of the 2008 Suzuki Forenza.

- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
- Summary: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Forenza vehicles, and 2005-2008 Reno vehicles manufactured from September 1, 2003, through July 30, 2008. In the affected vehicles, heat may be generated in the headlamp switch or daytime running light (DRL) module which could melt the headlamp switch or the DRL module.
- Consequence: If the heat generated within the headlamp switch or DRL module located on the left side of the steering column melts the headlamp switch or DRL module, there is an increased risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Suzuki will replace the signal switch and add a jumper relay kit and will replace the DRL Module in teh instrument panel harness. Suzuki distributed to owners an interim letter on July 30, 2014. The recall began October 29, 2014. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-934-0934. Suzuki's number for this recall is XA.

Hello! I was wondering who reviewed this car? I'm asking because I absolutely love it! I previously owned a 2008 Honda Civic sedan for two years, but I have to say that the Forenza drives even better. Plus, my car payment went down by $200! The ride is smoother and quieter, and I got 26mpg on my first gas tank - not bad for city/highway driving. If you're considering getting one of these cars, I highly recommend taking it for a test drive. You'll be sold! And at only 11k for a new car, it's a great deal!

Hi there! Congratulations on your new foreign car! I noticed the price advertised and it drew me into the showroom as well. I used to drive an American car, a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire, but after driving a Mitsubishi at work, I realized how much better foreign cars can be. I'm really enjoying this car, it reminds me a lot of the Mitsubishi I drove before. The gas mileage is great, and there's plenty of room in the car and trunk. The ride is smooth and I have no problems with the acceleration. It took me a little while to get used to the zig-zag on the stick, but I'm okay with it now. The interior is soft and the MP3 player is fantastic. The stereo sounds awesome! The only downside was the $100 for mats, and I would have liked nicer rims. The power windows are super fast and have a lock for window control. I also love the heated mirrors and the latch for the gas cap. The lights inside are great and there's no way to lock yourself out. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase!

I purchased my 2008 Suzuki Forenza last October with 30,400 miles on the odometer. It has a 2.0 liter 4cyl engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. I use it daily for a 33-mile commute and I'm happy to report that I'm getting great gas mileage. I'm averaging 29-30 mpg, even with mixed city/country driving. Since then, I've had to make a few repairs, including two new rear struts, a new drive belt, and a new valve gasket, but I'm pleased to say that all of these repairs were covered under warranty and didn't cost me a penny.

I have the basic model of the Forenza, but it looks great with chrome wheels and a rear spoiler. If you have a Forenza, consider adding a spoiler to enhance its appearance. I love my Forenza (Lucy), but unfortunately, some people tend to dislike it. The car handles very well in heavy rain, especially with new air dynamic wipers. Instead of settling for a basic Toyota or Honda with manual windows, you can get a Forenza with power everything for a similar price.

In 2014, I purchased my little 2004 Suzuki Forenza for $1200 from a used car lot. It had 163k miles and a wreck on the car fax, but I saw it as a gas saver alternative to my 1978 GMC C1500. I knew the water pump was out and it would overheat if not driven carefully, but I replaced the water pump and timing belt myself for only $120. As a typical young 20s driver, I drove it hard, jumping railroad tracks, taking it off-road, and even towing a 1993 Ford F150 about 10 miles. Despite my rough treatment, the car was incredibly resilient and I couldn't kill it! I carried a jump pack with me after about 4 months because the original battery finally stopped holding a charge. Unfortunately, my negligence caught up with me and the transmission started slipping. I lost 4th gear entirely, over-revved the engine, and blew the timing set. I had to scrap it for $86, but I hope I gave that car a good swan song.

This car has been dependable since I got it, although I have noticed some issues with slow acceleration and rough handling on bumps. However, I believe that the car will improve with time and use. While the gas mileage is not as good as my previous V6 Pontiac Grand Prix, I still find it to be acceptable. In hindsight, I wish I had done more research before purchasing this car, but overall I am satisfied with its performance.

After 50 k, the water pump went and the check engine light would not turn off. Additionally, the radio stopped working and the engine blew at 90k. The transmission also thumped and there was an oil leak through the seals. To top it off, the door lock broke and I had to exit through the passenger side. It's disappointing that Suzuki allowed Daewoo to manufacture this vehicle.

Although I had high hopes for this vehicle, it has unfortunately not met my expectations. The car jerks quite severely when accelerating, which is not ideal. Additionally, I had to replace the speakers due to them blowing out, and the fuses for the cigarette lighters and turn signals also blew out within a year. Currently, the engine light is on due to a bad transmission sensor. The gas mileage is not as good as I had hoped. While I was in a difficult situation and needed a new car, I am now regretting my decision and wish I had kept my old one.
