Common 2010 Lexus Gs 350 problems

The Lexus GS 350 2010 is known to have several common problems based on complaints from owners of this car. Here are some of the most frequently reported issues in detail:

  1. Discoloration of Rear View Mirror: The rearview mirror can discolor over time, even if it is not exposed to sunlight. This is due to the failure of the mirror's coating, which can become faded and lose its reflective properties.
  2. VSC System Failure and Check Engine Light: The Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system is designed to help maintain control of the car during sudden turns or slippery conditions. However, the VSC system can fail, causing the check engine light to come on. This can be due to the failure of any of the sensors in the car, including the accelerator pedal position sensor, the throttle position sensor, or the crankshaft position sensor.
  3. Accelerator Pedal Problem: The accelerator pedal can become loose or the plastic over the metal can get off, causing the car to accelerate unexpectedly or not respond to the driver's input. This can be a serious safety issue and should be addressed immediately.
  4. PCV Valve Clogging: The Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve can get clogged, causing the engine to produce more smoke. This can be due to the buildup of oil and debris in the valve, which can restrict the flow of air and fuel vapor. Replacing the PCV valve can help prevent this issue.
  5. Battery Drain: The battery of the car can die quickly, even if it has been recently replaced. This can be due to a variety of factors, including a faulty alternator, a parasitic draw on the electrical system, or a problem with the battery itself.
  6. Engine Rattling Noises: The engine can produce rattling noises, which can be very annoying at times. This can be due to a variety of factors, including a loose timing chain, worn-out bearings, or a problem with the fuel injectors.
  7. Trunk Struts Failure: The trunk struts can stop working after their failure, causing the trunk door to not pop up if the trunk opening button is pressed. This can be due to a variety of factors, including worn-out struts, a problem with the latch mechanism, or a problem with the wiring.
  8. Limp Mode: The car can get into limp mode, which limits the car's speed and power. This can be due to a variety of factors, including a problem with the transmission, a problem with the engine, or a problem with the electrical system.
  9. High Engine Oil Consumption: The car can consume more oil than usual, which can be due to a variety of factors, including worn-out piston rings, a problem with the oil pump, or a problem with the engine's cylinders.
  10. Transmission Stalling: The transmission can stall, causing the car to shift roughly or not shift at all. This can be due to a variety of factors, including a low transmission fluid level, a problem with the transmission solenoid, or a problem with the transmission itself.

It is important to note that not all 2010 Lexus GS 350 owners will experience these issues, and some problems may be more common than others. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent many of these issues from occurring, and prompt attention to any warning signs or symptoms can help ensure that any problems are addressed before they become serious.

2018-06-26
  • Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
  • Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
  • Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Lexus GS350 and GS450h, 2006-2013 Lexus IS350 and 2010-2014 Lexus IS350C vehicles, equipped with 3.5L V6 2GR-FSE gasoline engines. The diaphragms in the fuel pulsation dampers may harden over time and develop cracks, possibly causing a fuel leak.
  • Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel delivery pipe with a new pipe that has improved pulsation dampers, free of charge. The recall began August 23, 2018. Owners may contact Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's number for this recall is JLF.

  • Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
  • Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
  • Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Lexus LS vehicles manufactured May 9, 2006, to July 20, 2010, 2006-2011 Lexus GS vehicles manufactured January 6, 2005, to September 10, 2010, and 2006-2011 Lexus IS vehicles manufactured August 30, 2005, to September 10, 2010. Due to anti-corrosion plating remnants, fuel may leak from where the fuel pressure sensor is attached to the fuel delivery pipe.
  • Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will clean and reseal the fuel pressure sensor mounting area, free of charge. The recall began March 3, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331.

  • Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: Toyota is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Lexus GS350 vehicles manufactured June 19, 2006, through July 12, 2011; and model year 2006-2011 Lexus IS350 vehicles manufactured May 27, 2005, through July 13, 2011; and model year 2010-2011 Lexus IS350c vehicles manufactured November 25, 2009, through July 19, 2011. These vehicles, equipped with the 2GR-FSE engine, use bolts to secure the housing and sprocket of the Variable-Valve Timing (VVT) system gear assembly. These bolts could become loose due to abnormal impacts generated within the gear assembly immediately after a cold start-up.
  • Consequence: The loose bolts could cause the VVT gear housing and sprocket to separate and result in the engine stopping while the vehicle is being driven, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and Lexus dealers will replace the VVT unit free of charge. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

Negative 2010 Lexus Gs 350 car reviews

  1. Hilbert Osinski 2024-07-10

The car has some noticeable issues such as a squeaky dash, occasional coolant smell, and a sulfur smell from the exhaust when the windows are down in the summer. Despite being a nice car, the price and frequency of these issues make it difficult for me to recommend. Additionally, I have found that Lexus dealerships can be dismissive when approached with these issues. Overall, I believe there is room for improvement in both the car and the customer service provided by Lexus.

  2. Arden Macejkovic 2024-07-05

I've been driving for 40 years and have never bothered to check the mpg of my car. I've been experiencing some issues and have been trying to get some help from the dealer since day one. On average, I get about 13 mpg whether I'm driving on the freeway or city streets, but I was able to get it up to 15 mpg on the road. I've heard some unhelpful comments from Lexus, but I'm still concerned. If other drivers are experiencing similar issues, I would really appreciate hearing about it. Currently, my car has 3000 miles on it.

Positive 2010 Lexus Gs 350 car reviews

  1. Toney Okuneva 2024-11-23

I purchased this Lexus in December 2009 and traded in my 2007 Acura MDX. Although I miss having an SUV, I must say that if you like sedans, this car is excellent. The car is super quiet and the ride is very comfortable. I have had no problems at low or high speed. The AWD is fantastic and this year was a good one to test this car with all the snow we had. The brakes and power steering are good with no issues. I only have 3200 miles, but so far, I would give Lexus an A+.

  2. Nathen Davis 2024-11-09

Smooth ride. I really like how well it drives. I also appreciate the automatic trunk opener that activates when I place my hand underneath.

  3. Burley Bahringer 2024-11-01

This is my 4th Lexus. I've owned a LS400 and 2 GS300s before this GS350. All of them have been incredibly reliable, lasting well over 200k miles with only normal wear and tear issues. While I love my GS350, there are a few things that could be improved. The trunk lid is quite heavy and difficult to open when my hands are full. Additionally, the stereo doesn't quite live up to the luxury standard of the car and could use an upgrade. Lastly, the USB and Aux ports are located at the very back of the center console, making them difficult to reach. Despite these minor issues, I still adore my Lexus and plan on purchasing another one in a few years.

  4. Dayton Jenkins 2024-06-10

This car's performance surpassed all other luxury vehicles I have had in every way.

  5. Malcolm Schmeler 2024-06-03

I've had the pleasure of experiencing German cars and roughing it out with BMW, but for those of you in search of a world-class supercar, the Lexus GS 350 AWD is truly a remarkable machine. Its performance is exceptional, especially when you hit the open highway and engage the
