Introduced in 1989, the first generation ES 250 was one of two vehicles in Lexus's debut range, along with the LS 400. The second generation ES 300 debuted in 1991, followed by the third generation ES 300 in 1996, and the fourth generation ES 300/330 in 2001. The first- through fourth generation sedans shared body styling elements with Japan-market Toyota sedans, and a domestic market equivalent, the Toyota Windom (Japanese: トヨタ・ウィンダム, Toyota Windamu), was sold until the launch of the fifth generation ES in 2006. The word "Windom" is a combination of "win" and the suffix "dom" expresses a state of perpetual victory. The fifth generation ES used body styling marketed by Lexus as L-finesse and debuted in early 2006 as a 2007 model. The sixth generation ES debuted in the first half of 2012 as a 2013 model, and features increased cabin dimensions due to a longer wheelbase which is shared with the full-size XX40 series Avalon.
Lexus has positioned the ES in the comfort luxury segment, with an emphasis on interior amenities, quietness, and ride quality, in contrast with more firm-riding sport sedans. - Summary: I started my vehicle and drove about 1/2 mile when the car started acting like it was running out of gas. I pulled over and got about 1gallon of gas in a gas can and put it in the vehicle. I turned the car back on and drove about 2 blocks when the vehicle started jumping like it was going to run out of gas again. The vehicle then shut down while I was driving it. I made it to the side of the road and put the vehicle in park and turned off the ignition with the push start button. I tried to start the vehicle again with the push start button and the vehicle would just try to start but just crank and not turn on. This ended up being a fault fuel pump. After some research I was able to find out Lexus had several thousand vehicles of the same year make and model recalled due to a faulty fuel pump that goes out while driving causing a dangerous driving condition which is exactly what occurred in my vehicle. I contacted Lexus and was told my vehicle was not included in the recall which I don’t understand due to the fact that my fuel pump went out while was driving. I am requesting this issue be investigated and the vehicle be added to the list of recalled vehicles with faulty fuel pumps

- Summary: Issue number one the dashboard the steering wheel and the clutch handle for automatic or manual melts it gets extremely hot and slippery it burns no matter if you cover your car or anything it melts and the glare from it is very dangerous when the Sun hits the windshield while driving it makes it look like a mirror form I'm not the only one who complains about this issue because why does the dashboard melts and create a dangerous flare with glare excuse the heating and cooling seats I believe also I'm not sure if it's causing condensation because it's connected to the AC which is also an issue no matter how much you get it fixed like I'm not sure if the blend door actuator gets stuck but a lot of people complain about that too because I'm not the only one with that issue 3 the gas pedal gets stuck no matter how many treatments and maintenance and services you get done with your car that's still dangerous because I was driving one day on the highway and my pedal got stuck while driving I keep my car in tip top shape have evidence and all. The light fixtures also is an issue I'm not sure if they're supposed to go down no matter how many lights and replacements you do they still become dim which is dangerous at night while driving in the woods or on dark paths 4 the fuel system they tell to use premium gas which is 91 but then the dealers take to use 87 which causes a stalling on the I believe transmission which is also another faulty issue cuz no matter how many times you replace everything is still very faulty I ran into a lot of people and Friends who have the same issue and again I'm a person who take care of my car and 5 last but not least all the windows and sunroof keep opening which I didn't know was that supposed to be a feature.

- Summary: Roughly 6-12 months ago the dashboard on my Lexus started to melt and become sticky, creating a glare on my windshield and impeding my ability to see the road causing dangerous situations. Both daytime and nighttime driving have been affected by this defect. I’ve contacted the local dealership, but they confirmed that no recalls are available and that the only solution is for me to replace the entire dash.

- Summary: The dashboard of the vehicle has deteriorated causing an extreme shiny surface all over. This can be seen at even given time of inspection. A recall was released to do this issue but when the LEXUS Newport News, VA dealership was contacted, the response was this vehicle was not included. During this time the vehicle was already in the need of the dashbpard being replaced due to the reasons stated in the recall letter. The vehicle was later taken to the same dealership whom denied the recall action, for a different service. The representative that was spoken with for the recall was present and seen the condition of the dashboad. the representative then stated that there was a recall for this issue. I reminded them of the call and the rep replied, if we would have known it was this bad, then we would have added your vehicle to the list for repair. I was told since the original recall date had expired for that repair issue that they were not going to honor the repair, even after acknowledging the damage and agreeing that it should have been included. The representative proceeded to suggest me to pay them as the dealer for a dashboard replacement. I asked to speak with another asociate which in turn advised the same information. The suggested service and charge, was declined. This dashboard has caused a mirror like glare in the windshield. It obtructs the view of objects while driving. Eye apparrel has been applied along with, seat position adjustments, and a towel placed to cover the dashboard while operating the vehicle. This is unsafe and as time goes on this issue continues to get worse. I have not had an auto insurance representative inspect the issue. I was unaware that this maybe an option.

- Summary: I have been driving with a shiny sticky dashboard that reflects light directly into my eyes when I'm driving creating a dangerous driving condition. I was just made aware that there was a Lexus Customer Support Program ZLZ to replace this defective dashboard but I never received a recall notice. I have asked Lexus corporate and the dealership to help me resolve this dangerous defect but they said the program has expired and is no longer willing to help. I am a senior citizen and cannot afford to pay for this out of pocket or buy a new car. This defect is a widely known issue and Lexus has acknowledged that this is causing a dangerous condition while driving. I cannot understand why they would not resolve this matter regardless the program expired or not especially if owners did not received the notice. Please help. Lexus is unwilling to resolve this matter even though they know this defect is causing dangerous driving conditions which may lead to accidents.

- Summary: I purchased and had installed 4 - Nokian Tyres One 215/55/17 on [XXX]. I brought my car to my Lexus dealer on [XXX] for routine car maintenance. When inspected, all four tires had a circumferential crack on the interior side wall. They were deep and went virtually around the entire tire. I was told not to drive the car and replace the tires immediately. At that point, we had put 30,000 miles on the tires and there was still plenty of tread. We returned to our tire dealer, and when he contacted Nokian, they said that this had been a problem with this group of tires, and although there wasn't a recall, they were replacing the tires for free on an "as-needed" basis. Our dealer replaced the tires, although I must say I am leery of this brand. In any event, there should be a formal recall on these tires. On March 4, 2020, Toyota expanded the recall to include certain 2014-2015 Toyota 4Runner and Land Cruiser, 2018 Avalon, Corolla, 2014 FJ Cruiser, 2017 Sienna and Lexus 2018 ES 350, 2018-2019 GS 300, 2013-2014 GS350, 2014-2015 GX 460, IS 350 and LX 570, 2014 IS F, 2018-2019 IS 350, LC 500H and LS 500H, 2013-2015 LS 460, 2015 NX 200T and RC350, 2017 RC 200T and RX 350. Toyota also removed the 2018-2019 Toyota 4Runner and Land Cruiser and 2018-2019 Lexus GX 460 and LX 570 and 2019 NX300 from inclusion in this recall. On March 19, 2020, Toyota expanded the recall to include 2015 Lexus GS350 vehicles. The low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.
- Consequence: If the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began May 4, 2020. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 20TB02 and 20TA02 for Toyota vehicles and 20LB01 and 20LA01 for Lexus vehicles.

This is my dream car and I absolutely love it! It's so comfortable and luxurious, and it's much quieter on the road than other cars I've driven. The engine is also incredibly powerful. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the navigation system, Scout. I personally prefer using Waze or Google Maps, but overall I'm still thrilled with my car!

I chose the Lexus ES due to its well-known quality, reliability, and value. I am very pleased with its many well-thought-out features. Although I had read that the driving experience may not be very exciting, I was pleasantly surprised by its decent power and handling. However, I have experienced some rattling issues with the car. After taking it to a Lexus dealer, they identified the issue as being with the right front suspension and fixed it under warranty after keeping the car for two nights. Unfortunately, I am now hearing another rattle from the left rear side of the car. After researching online, I found that Lexus models under $40k, including the IS and ES, have had many issues with rattling. This is quite disappointing, but I am hopeful that the issue can be resolved.

Hello! Thank you for considering this automobile. It's a great choice for a comfortable and luxurious ride. The front and rear seats are both very comfortable. While the console and glove box are spacious, there is a bit of a lack of space for storing smaller items like phones and sunglasses. The standard stereo, called premium audio, sounds very good, but it may not be up to par with high-end audio systems. However, if you're willing to invest in the MarkLevinson system, I'm sure you'll be more than pleased with the sound quality. After owning the car for a year now, I personally would have chosen the luxury model instead of the sportier F Sport. I've ridden in both, and the regular suspension definitely provides a smoother ride. Thank you again for considering this automobile!

When we were shopping for a car, we let our emotions guide us and ended up wanting a luxury vehicle with all-wheel drive, panoramic roof, power trunk lid, and a radar detector outlet near the windshield. Unfortunately, we felt trapped into buying what Bob Rohrman had at Arlington Lexus, even though it didn't fully meet our needs. We've noticed some deficiencies, such as a rough ride that feels like there are no shock absorbers. We've reached out to them about replacing the shocks, but haven't had any luck yet. Despite this, we're willing to pay for the repairs and hope to resolve the issue soon.

Hi there! I recently purchased a 2019 ES350 F Sport and wanted to share my experience with the winter driving conditions. Unfortunately, I've had some trouble with blown out tires due to potholes, which has been a new experience for me after 33 years of Canadian driving. I've gone through three brand new winter tires in the last 3 weeks, with one of them having less than 200 miles on it. I would advise caution when considering the low-profile wheels as they may not be the best fit for your needs. Thanks for listening!

I would recommend test driving several other cars before making a decision, and not just basing it on looks. Personally, I wish I had chosen a different car for the price I paid.

Out of the 50 cars I have owned in my lifetime, the last five have been Lexus models - the 250, 300, 400, 330, and 350. However, I have encountered two major issues with my 2007 model that Lexus has been unable to resolve. Firstly, the engine produces a noise when cold that resembles the tappet noise of previous years, and the engine idles roughly. Despite Lexus telling me that this is normal and caused by the fuel injectors, I find it hard to believe as my 97 Nissan Altima was quieter and did not produce such noises or rough idling. Secondly, the A/C system releases tiny white specs that cover my dashboard area. Despite Lexus changing the evaporator twice and the A/C filters numerous times, the issue persists and I am concerned that it may be affecting my lung health. As a loyal Lexus customer, I am disappointed with the performance of this year's model.

I purchased a 2019 Lexus 350 F-Sport a week ago and have mixed feelings about it. While the ride quality is good and the car has an upscale interior design, there are some major design flaws that I find frustrating. For example, I don't understand why Lexus didn't include a separate AC button. If you need to turn on the AC outside of the already set temperature, you have to use the central console, which can be unsafe while driving. Another major design flaw is the USB flash player. When you select an album from your USB stick, the player will play the songs in alphabetical order, rather than in the order you specify. This is a problem that I haven't encountered in any other car brand. I hope Lexus will address these issues in future models. I also agree with reviews that criticize the unbalanced Mark Levinson audio implementation. Even when you play a recording that utilizes the surround system, the rear speakers do not deliver. Unfortunately, there is no detailed documentation regarding the audio, which is disappointing given the price of Lexus cars. I wanted to follow up on my previous review and provide an update. I worked with a technical expert at the Lexus dealership and provided additional information about the MP3 player, which was not included in the official Lexus documentation. There are certain limitations in the current MP3 player implementation by Lexus, such as the USB drive having a limitation of 16GB (mine was 120GB) and limitations on the number of files and folders. The flash drive also needs to be formatted on a Windows OS. Overall, I hope Lexus will take customer feedback into account and improve their designs in the future.Thank you for sharing this information. Although it took some additional work, I was able to resolve the issue. It seems that the player indexes the USB flash drive and ignores any new additions in the middle of the folder(s), which can be frustrating. It's unfortunate that this information is not readily available for Lexus customers and that their support was not helpful. I also learned that the AC compressor will always run once turned on, regardless of the temperature setting. However, the dealership can customize the setting to address this issue with a visit to the service center. Regarding the ML audio system, I understand that there have been multiple customer complaints and the dealership promised to follow up and see if a software patch can be issued.
