The first- through fourth generation sedans shared body styling elements with Japan-market Toyota sedans, and a domestic market equivalent, the Toyota Windom (Japanese: トヨタ・ウィンダム, Toyota Windamu), was sold until the launch of the fifth generation ES in 2006. The word "Windom" is a combination of "win" and the suffix "dom" expresses a state of perpetual victory. The fifth generation ES used body styling marketed by Lexus as L-finesse and debuted in early 2006 as a 2007 model. The sixth generation ES debuted in the first half of 2012 as a 2013 model, and features increased cabin dimensions due to a longer wheelbase which is shared with the full-size XX40 series Avalon.
Lexus has positioned the ES in the comfort luxury segment, with an emphasis on interior amenities, quietness, and ride quality, in contrast with more firm-riding sport sedans. - Summary: Issue number one the dashboard the steering wheel and the clutch handle for automatic or manual melts it gets extremely hot and slippery it burns no matter if you cover your car or anything it melts and the glare from it is very dangerous when the Sun hits the windshield while driving it makes it look like a mirror form I'm not the only one who complains about this issue because why does the dashboard melts and create a dangerous flare with glare excuse the heating and cooling seats I believe also I'm not sure if it's causing condensation because it's connected to the AC which is also an issue no matter how much you get it fixed like I'm not sure if the blend door actuator gets stuck but a lot of people complain about that too because I'm not the only one with that issue 3 the gas pedal gets stuck no matter how many treatments and maintenance and services you get done with your car that's still dangerous because I was driving one day on the highway and my pedal got stuck while driving I keep my car in tip top shape have evidence and all. The light fixtures also is an issue I'm not sure if they're supposed to go down no matter how many lights and replacements you do they still become dim which is dangerous at night while driving in the woods or on dark paths 4 the fuel system they tell to use premium gas which is 91 but then the dealers take to use 87 which causes a stalling on the I believe transmission which is also another faulty issue cuz no matter how many times you replace everything is still very faulty I ran into a lot of people and Friends who have the same issue and again I'm a person who take care of my car and 5 last but not least all the windows and sunroof keep opening which I didn't know was that supposed to be a feature.

A recall which they are telling me now, they will no longer honor had been in effect: "January 21, 2015 — After years of complaints and recent lawsuits, Toyota has agreed to replace about 3.5 million dashboards that get sticky, cracked, shiny and melt in heat and humidity. Calling it a "Customer Support Program" - ZE6 - Toyota will extend dashboard warranty coverage on the following Toyota and Lexus vehicles." The PHOTO of my dashboard below, shows the cracks and chipping that has occurred over the years. If the air bag deploys fragments will be disbursed throughout my vehicle. I have two grandchildren that I drive to school each day and this is a very bad situation about to happen. I contacted the customer service numerous times and simply flat out said that they will not own responsibility.

- Summary: This is a second report of unexpected, unanticipated extremly high acceleration while braking. I reported this experience in November 2019, NHTSA Complaint Number 11279155. At that time, the car was moving and I was braking on an uphill curve. On October 10, 2021, at approx 12:30 p.m. The unexpected, unanticipated extremely high acceleration occurred as I was starting my car in a Pittsburgh area restaurant parking lot. The car requires that my foot be on the brake while starting. The car was in Park when I depressed the start button. Immediately the car started with extremely high revolutions to the point the loud engine noise frightened several individuals standing 15-20 feet on an adjacent sidewalk. The tachometer was in or close to the redzone. I immediately shut the engine down. At no time did I have my foot on the accelerator and neither the floor mat nor any other item was touching the accelerator.

I CONTACTED LEXUS CUSTOMER SERVICE TO INQUIRE INTO WHAT CAUSES THE SEAL TO NEED REPLACEMENT EVERY 7 OR SO YEARS. CASE # 210506001409 WAS ASSIGNED. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE CALLED TODAY AND INFORMED ME THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER AT CROWN LEXUS IN ONTARIO INFORMED HER THE SEALER SHRINKS OVERTIME. HOWEVER, SHE COULD NOT PROVIDE A REASON FOR THE SHRINKAGE. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT CAUSES THIS SO I CAN DECIDE WHETHER TO CONTINUE PUTTING MONEY INTO THIS CAR. THIS DOES SEEM RIGHT TO ME. IT IS REALLY CONCERNING AS I ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN WHEN THE SUN WAS GLARING OVER MY FRONT WINDSHIELD. I AM ACTUALLY TERRIFIED OF LEAVING MY HOME ON SUNNY DAYS AS I MIGHT GET IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE GLARE. FEW YEARS AGO, LEXUS OFFERED TO REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT IT WASN'T A RECALL AND THE OWNER DIDN'T HAVE IT FIXED. BACK THEN THE CAR HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM THE DEALER (ESKRIDGE LEXUS OKC). THE GRACE PERIOD FOR THE REPLACEMENT IS OVER.THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND GOOD SERVICE RECORD. I HAVE NO PROOF OF WHAT I'M GOING TO SAY NEXT, BUT I FEAR THAT SINCE THE DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND CRACKED AND PEELING OFF, THE AIRBAGS MIGHT NOT PROPERLY DEPLOY IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT.

- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2010-2016 4Runner, 2003-2006 Tundra, 2003-2013 Corolla, 2009-2010 Corolla Matrix, 2004-2005 RAV4, 2002-2007 Sequoia, 2011-2013 Sienna, 2008-2012 Scion xB, 2008-2009 Lexus IS-F, 2007-2012 Yaris and Lexus ES350, 2010-2017 Lexus GX460, 2002-2010 Lexus SC430, 2006-2012 Lexus IS250 and IS350 and 2010-2015 Lexus IS250C and IS350C vehicles. These vehicles had their driver or passenger frontal air bag inflators previously replaced under a prior recall using inflators of the same design. The inflators may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
- Consequence: An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify owners. Depending on the vehicle model, dealers will replace the front driver inflator, front passenger airbag inflator, the airbag assembly, or the front passenger airbag sub-assembly and inflator. ALSO, DEALERS WILL REPLACE ANY GENUINE TOYOTA OR LEXUS ALL-WEATHER FLOOR MATS WITH REDESIGNED ALL-WEATHER MATS, OR REPURCHASE THE PREVIOUS MATS FROM OWNERS WHO DO NOT WANT THE NEW ONES. Out of the 50 cars I have owned in my lifetime, the last five have been Lexus models - the 250, 300, 400, 330, and 350. However, I have encountered two major issues with my 2007 model that Lexus has been unable to resolve. Firstly, the engine produces a noise when cold that resembles the tappet noise of previous years, and the engine idles roughly. Despite Lexus telling me that this is normal and caused by the fuel injectors, I find it hard to believe as my 97 Nissan Altima was quieter and did not produce such noises or rough idling. Secondly, the A/C system releases tiny white specs that cover my dashboard area. Despite Lexus changing the evaporator twice and the A/C filters numerous times, the issue persists and I am concerned that it may be affecting my lung health. As a loyal Lexus customer, I am disappointed with the performance of this year's model.

I had some unexpected repairs on my car, which was surprising since Lexus has a reputation for being very reliable. Fortunately, I had purchased an extended warranty, which was a lifesaver. I would recommend that all future buyers consider getting an extended warranty, ideally one that covers up to 200,000 miles. While I was disappointed with my experience, especially since this was my first time purchasing a Lexus, I still believe it's a high-end automobile company. I'm not sure how such a defective vehicle could have been sold with less than 100,000 miles, and the list of repairs was too long to list here.

I am experiencing a major issue with the paint chipping on my car. It is frustrating to see a new chip on the hood every day, especially considering that the car has only clocked 76,000 miles. I have noticed that other people have reported similar issues in their reviews, which is disappointing as it affects the value of the car. Additionally, I have had to replace the transmission and water pump, despite getting regular oil changes every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. If only I could get another paint job, it would make me feel much better about the money I have spent on repairs.

I have had this car for 4 years. It is a weekend car. The car is fun to drive. But I have had the transmission replaced, when it barely had 10,000 miles on it. It would change gears with a major kick. After a week my vsc came on. About a month ago when I would turn my steering wheel I would feel clicking noises. So back to the shop it went and their was a defect in the steering rods. I also had a oil leak and a plug was defective so they replaced that. Thank god! This car inst what I use daily.

I think the car is good, but there is room for improvement. The seats could be more comfortable, and the stereo could sound better. Unfortunately, the voice recognition system doesn't work very well, and there is a noticeable rattle or creaking coming from the dashboard. However, the car does have great forward visibility and gets excellent mileage.
