The Lexus ES (Japanese: レクサス・ES, Hepburn: Rekusasu ES) is a series of mid-size executive cars marketed since 1989 by Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota, across multiple generations, each offering V6 engines and a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. The first five generations of the ES used the Toyota Camry platform, while the latter generations are more closely related to both the Camry and the Avalon. Manual transmissions were offered until 1993, a lower-displacement inline-four engine became an option in Asian markets in 2010, and a gasoline-electric hybrid version was introduced in 2012. The ES was Lexus's only front-wheel drive vehicle until 1998, when the related RX was introduced, and the sedan occupied the entry-level luxury car segment of the Lexus lineup in North America and other regions until the debut of the IS in 1999. The ES name stands for "Executive Sedan". However, some Lexus importers use the name, "Elegant Sedan".

Introduced in 1989, the first generation ES 250 was one of two vehicles in Lexus's debut range, along with the LS 400. The second generation ES 300 debuted in 1991, followed by the third generation ES 300 in 1996, and the fourth generation ES 300/330 in 2001. The first- through fourth generation sedans shared body styling elements with Japan-market Toyota sedans, and a domestic market equivalent, the Toyota Windom (Japanese: トヨタ・ウィンダム, Toyota Windamu), was sold until the launch of the fifth generation ES in 2006. The word "Windom" is a combination of "win" and the suffix "dom" expresses a state of perpetual victory. The fifth generation ES used body styling marketed by Lexus as L-finesse and debuted in early 2006 as a 2007 model. The sixth generation ES debuted in the first half of 2012 as a 2013 model, and features increased cabin dimensions due to a longer wheelbase which is shared with the full-size XX40 series Avalon.

Lexus has positioned the ES in the comfort luxury segment, with an emphasis on interior amenities, quietness, and ride quality, in contrast with more firm-riding sport sedans. Buyers seeking more performance-focused models are targeted by the Lexus IS and rival makes, with such models offering a sportier drive with differently tuned suspensions. In Europe, Japan and other markets where it was not available until the seventh generation model, the GS sport sedans occupy the mid-size category in the Lexus lineup until it was cancelled August 2020. Hi there! I recently purchased a 2019 ES350 F Sport and wanted to share my experience with the winter driving conditions. Unfortunately, I've had some trouble with blown out tires due to potholes, which has been a new experience for me after 33 years of Canadian driving. I've gone through three brand new winter tires in the last 3 weeks, with one of them having less than 200 miles on it. I purchased a 2019 Lexus 350 F-Sport a week ago and have mixed feelings about it. While the ride quality is good and the car has an upscale interior design, there are some major design flaws that I find frustrating. For example, I don't understand why Lexus didn't include a separate AC button. If you need to turn on the AC outside of the already set temperature, you have to use the central console, which can be unsafe while driving. Another major design flaw is the USB flash player. When you select an album from your USB stick, the player will play the songs in alphabetical order, rather than in the order you specify. This is a problem that I haven't encountered in any other car brand. I hope Lexus will address these issues in future models. I also agree with reviews that criticize the unbalanced Mark Levinson audio implementation. Even when you play a recording that utilizes the surround system, the rear speakers do not deliver. Unfortunately, there is no detailed documentation regarding the audio, which is disappointing given the price of Lexus cars. I wanted to follow up on my previous review and provide an update. I worked with a technical expert at the Lexus dealership and provided additional information about the MP3 player, which was not included in the official Lexus documentation. There are certain limitations in the current MP3 player implementation by Lexus, such as the USB drive having a limitation of 16GB (mine was 120GB) and limitations on the number of files and folders. The flash drive also needs to be formatted on a Windows OS. Overall, I hope Lexus will take customer feedback into account and improve their designs in the future.Thank you for sharing this information. Although it took some additional work, I was able to resolve the issue. It seems that the player indexes the USB flash drive and ignores any new additions in the middle of the folder(s), which can be frustrating. It's unfortunate that this information is not readily available for Lexus customers and that their support was not helpful. I also learned that the AC compressor will always run once turned on, regardless of the temperature setting. However, the dealership can customize the setting to address this issue with a visit to the service center. Regarding the ML audio system, I understand that there have been multiple customer complaints and the dealership promised to follow up and see if a software patch can be issued. I recently upgraded from a 2013 ES300 to a 2019 ES350. I was so used to the great sound system in my old Lexus that I didn't even think to check the new one. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the sound quality when I finally turned it on during my drive home. I went back to the dealer the next day, but they informed me that it was working as intended. The sound was comparable to my old pickup truck with just one speaker in the dash! I even reached out to Lexus corporate for assistance, but unfortunately, they were unable to help. Although they did offer to document my complaint, I declined as I have decided not to purchase another Lexus in the future.

Hello! We are thrilled to share our experience with the 2019 ES350. This is actually our fourth Lexus and third ES, and we couldn't be happier with our purchase. We initially considered the new LS500, which is a fantastic vehicle, but we were pleasantly surprised by the 2019 ES350. The ride is incredibly quiet and comfortable, and the Ultra Luxury model offers all the features we were looking for at a much lower cost than the LS500. Even our neighbors noticed the difference in the ride quality compared to our 2018 model. Plus, the gas mileage is great and we love that it uses regular gas. We're particularly enjoying the HUD feature, the large navigation/information display, and the extra quality leather seating. The climate control is also a huge upgrade from our 2018 model. The only downside is that we're a bit disappointed in the radio sound quality of the Mark Levinson audio system. Overall, we highly recommend the 2019 Ultra Luxury version of the ES350. It's a fantastic car that offers a great value for the quality you get. Thank you for considering our experience!The car was purchased primarily for my wife's use, and although I drove it little, I noticed that the audio system (Mark Levinson, '17-speaker, 1800-watt, PurePlay Surround Sound') did not meet my expectations. I tried working with a Lexus technician and even called Lexus Consumer Care, but unfortunately, my case was closed as the Mark Levinson audio system 'works as designed'. However, I believe that the system does not perform as Lexus claims it does. The audio quality is not Surround Sound, and it is questionable whether the 10 speaker ports operate as 17 speakers. Interestingly, Lexus now describes the audio system performance as 'Concert facing audio quality', which seems to be a new term to replace 'Surround Sound'. I am disappointed that Lexus is not addressing this issue, and I am unsure of what steps to take next.

If you like the styling, that's great! Personally, I find it a bit fussy, especially the cowcatcher grill. However, the ride is very good, and the handling is impressive for this type of car. It's also incredibly comfortable and quiet, with great fit and finish. Surprisingly, it gets 35-39 mpg on regular fuel on the highway. The head-up display is fantastic, and the map display is really impressive. Rain-sensing wipers and auto headlamp dimming are implemented nicely, and the overhead camera view is a great feature. The seat adjustments are fine, and the real leg room is impressive. However, the interior design could be improved. The hump over the cluster has two of the least-used controls front and center, which can be a bit distracting. The touchpad is also a bit difficult to use at first, but you'll get used to it. The USB port for the phone is under a flip-up cover that also reveals the second cup holder, which can be a bit inconvenient. It's also worth noting that the stereo fader needs to be tuned carefully. Despite these minor issues, the car is still a great choice. The adaptive cruise control works well, and the controls are easy to use once you get used to them. Overall, it's a great car that's definitely worth considering.It's a shame that the default distance is always the longest, which can be quite annoying. Additionally, the steering wheel has too many switches, which can be distracting. Perhaps the designers should take a drive in a Honda to get some inspiration. While visibility to the sides and rear isn't the best, the blind spot monitors work well enough to compensate, as long as you pay attention to them. For $50k, getting all the bells and whistles is a decent deal, but if the Genesis G80 AWD got better mileage on regular gas, the choice wouldn't have been so clear. Overall, I'm getting used to the interior quirks, and the ride quality makes up for a lot. You really need to drive one to see if the same compromises work for you. On a positive note, I've found that once you train yourself to find the click stops without looking, the trackpad is less of a distraction. Despite the scathing reviews of the sound system (Mark Levenson), I find it acceptable. I listen to classical music and don't want exaggerated surround sound or booming bass. I suspect that the system was tuned more for that than rap, country, or rock, but your mileage may vary. Unfortunately, the navigation system has become a real annoyance. It will choose routes that are ridiculous, including the ones suggested. It can't be trusted if you don't have some outside knowledge. Google Maps via iPhone is preferable. I got the base ES. It rides amazingly and the comfort is great. The white paint with black interior looks sharp. I'm also impressed with the safety features. Although the interior was missing some features such as the electric steering wheel adjuster, I understand that this is the base model. Overall, I'm definitely pleased with the car.
