2022 Land rover Range rover evoque problems
The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, also known as the Range Rover Evoque, is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV developed and produced by Jaguar Land Rover under their Land Rover marque. The original Evoque was a development of the Land Rover LRX concept vehicle, which was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in January 2008. The first generation Evoque was produced from July 2011 until 2018 in three and five-door versions, with both two-wheel and four-wheel drive. The second generation of the car went into production in 2018.
First generation (L538; 2011)
Development
The size of the LRX concept vehicle complemented a wide array of efficiency-improving technologies in the form of Land Rover's e_Terrain technologies. These included biofuel compatibility, lightweight construction materials, and technologies such as the removable carbon composite roof panels, regenerative brakes, a stop-start system, along with the ERAD (electric rear axle drive) parallel hybrid powertrain system.
ERAD system
The ERAD system could propel the LRX to speeds up to 20 mph (32 km/h) before the engine was started by an integrated starter generator as part of the stop-start system. ERAD was designed to reduce CO2 emissions by an average of 20% under the NEDC test cycle and was expected to offer another 10% reduction in extra-urban driving situations while also optimizing the off-road ability of the vehicle. Land Rover aimed to achieve 120 g/km CO2 emissions and fuel economy of 60 mpg‑imp (4.7 L/100 km; 50 mpg‑US) on the European combined cycle with an efficient 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine based on PSA DW12. The engine would become the only four-cylinder vehicle in the Range Rover lineup.

Is Range Rover Evoque 2022 reliable?
Range Rover Evoque reliability
That inconsistency was no different between 2021 and 2022, with a 22nd followed by a 14th-place finish, something it retained in 2023. The surprise here is that with Land Rover's close relationship with Jaguar the two brands had such a gap between them.
Are there any problems with Range Rover Evoque?
Unfortunately, it seems build quality can be variable on the Evoque. Most problems centre on the non-engine electrics, especially around the air-con and sat-nav units, with gearbox woes a close second, followed by engine and suspension issues. Automatic gearbox problems on the Evoque are fairly common.

Is it a good idea to buy a Range Rover Evoque?
Out on the road, whichever engine you go for, the Evoque is generally a comfortable companion, but it does have a tendency to fidget and jiggle over rough surfaces at lower speeds. Considering its off-road readiness, this is a posh SUV that's also surprisingly fun and capable in corners.

It's understandable to be hesitant about purchasing a car with negative reviews, but I can assure you that my 3-year-old Evoque is still in excellent condition. The D180 engine provides a satisfying level of speed and fuel efficiency, and I've never experienced any issues with gear shifts. The seats are comfortable and the sound system is top-notch. Additionally, the head-up display and infotainment system are both responsive and user-friendly. The lane keep feature is also a great addition for added safety. Overall, I highly recommend the Evoque for anyone in the market for a reliable and enjoyable car.

The engine start and off option can be frustrating as it cannot be turned off due to legal requirements. Additionally, the car can be quite jumpy, especially on hills and slanted streets. After driving for 30 minutes, the suspension can make noise that sounds like rocks underneath the car's tires. Despite contacting the dealer and having them drive the car for 300 miles, they were unable to detect any noise. However, I have captured the noise on camera. Lastly, the audio system leaves much to be desired.

The frequent engine issues caused by the thermostat problem have persisted despite multiple attempts to fix them. As a result, I have filed a claim under the lemon law. Additionally, there have been some minor issues occurring every 2-3 months. It is important to note that the Evoque has been unstable.

The Evoque 2020 with 2300km looks great and handles well. It has lots of power and is absolutely no slouch. However, I have experienced some engine knock which sounds like a used Ford. The garage has informed me that this is normal, but it does detract from the overall package. Additionally, the fuel economy is not great, with 1000m equating to 3 tanks of gas. The driver's seat also lacks support, which can be uncomfortable for the back. While the car looks great and handles well, it is disappointing that a luxury vehicle would have these known faults. I previously drove a Lexus NX 200 T, which was admittedly boring, but had a much better engine quality. Over 60000 km, I only spent money on oil and filter changes, and the car was whisper quiet. It had a 2 litre engine with a turbo, similar to what's in the Evoque. It's a shame that Range Rover, with such a beautiful vehicle, did not ensure that the engine was of a higher quality build. It's also concerning that my friend, who picked up his 2020 Evoque one week after me, is experiencing similar issues. We have only had our vehicles for two months, so it's disappointing that a manufacturer like Range Rover can't seem to get it right in 2020.

During our 10-day vacation in Florida, we decided to rent a car. As owners of a 2019 X3, we were looking for something upscale and different. We settled on the LR, which I had never driven before, and decided to give it a try. The 2.0L turbo engine was quick to respond with almost no turbo lag, making it easy to drive in the city and park. However, we did experience some cons. The suspension rattle was quite bad, especially in the rear, and sounded like something was falling off. Additionally, when braking from above 30-35 mph, the transmission kept trying to stay on gear, and at the stop, it made a loud bang, which was a bit scary. The trunk space was almost non-existent, and the rear window was very tiny. I was surprised that a car with less than 20K miles could be in this kind of shape. In the past, I have rented non-upscale SUVs like Tahoe, Murano, Edge, and even the Dodge Journey, which were better vehicles than this Land Rover.

I have experienced the same issues and problems that other reviewers have mentioned. My car has been in the dealer for service fees multiple times, and in the first year alone, it was at the dealer for over a total of 6 weeks. When I had finally had enough, I called Land Rover National HQ to complain. They assured me that they would open a formal case file and get back to me quickly with an offer of resolution. However, I never received a call back, and despite my attempts to contact them over several weeks, I did not receive any return calls. Paying for a car that is unsafe and unreliable and that you can't drive is frustrating. As a result, I have decided to never purchase another Range Rover.
