The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, also known as the Range Rover Evoque, is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV developed and produced by Jaguar Land Rover under their Land Rover marque. The original Evoque was a development of the Land Rover LRX concept vehicle, which was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in January 2008. The first generation Evoque was produced from July 2011 until 2018 in three and five-door versions, with both two-wheel and four-wheel drive. The second generation of the car went into production in 2018.

First generation (L538; 2011)

Development

The size of the LRX concept vehicle complemented a wide array of efficiency-improving technologies in the form of Land Rover's e_Terrain technologies. These included biofuel compatibility, lightweight construction materials, and technologies such as the removable carbon composite roof panels, regenerative brakes, a stop-start system, along with the ERAD (electric rear axle drive) parallel hybrid powertrain system.

ERAD system

The ERAD system could propel the LRX to speeds up to 20 mph (32 km/h) before the engine was started by an integrated starter generator as part of the stop-start system. ERAD was designed to reduce CO2 emissions by an average of 20% under the NEDC test cycle and was expected to offer another 10% reduction in extra-urban driving situations while also optimizing the off-road ability of the vehicle. Land Rover aimed to achieve 120 g/km CO2 emissions and fuel economy of 60 mpg‑imp (4.7 L/100 km; 50 mpg‑US) on the European combined cycle with an efficient 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine based on PSA DW12. The engine would become the only four-cylinder vehicle in the Range Rover lineup.

Owning my 2013 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has been quite a challenging experience. In the almost 3 years that I've had the car, I've had to visit the dealership 17 times for various faults and repairs. Despite this, I'm grateful that the dealership has been understanding and helpful throughout the process. I'm hoping that after the warranty expires, I can find a more reliable vehicle. However, I'm still enjoying the car and the comfort it provides. Today, I'm experiencing an issue with the infotainment console, but I'm confident that the dealership will be able to help me resolve it. Overall, while I've had some difficulties with the car, I'm still grateful for the experience and the support I've received from the dealership.

I purchased a car from Patrick Jaguar Naperville on January 2nd. Unfortunately, the car was towed just one week later due to warning lights being on, the car not shifting gears, and power steering not working. It took a week to repair and replace the module. I expressed my concerns to Land Rover and received $500 in Land Rover certificates. Today, I had a scheduled service appointment because neither smart key worked, but when I tried to start the car, it would not start. The car had to be towed again. I called Land Rover prior to the appointment and explained that I had received a one-time certificate before and that the car was still under warranty, but they did not offer any help. Unfortunately, this has been the worst service I have experienced from a luxury car. I regret my purchase and will not buy from them again. My husband was considering a Jaguar, but after this experience, he has changed his mind.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I noticed that you mentioned having spent thousands of dollars since purchasing your 2014 Range Rover Evoque. That can definitely add up! Is there anything I can help you with?

I leased my 2013 Evoque brand new in 2013 and then purchased it in 2016. It was good up until about 50K miles, and I had it maintained at the local LR dealership. However, at about 65K miles, the engine output completely went away, with no turbo. I had the car diagnosed at a local shop and they told me the Turbo is seized, which is a common design problem with this model. Unfortunately, the incredibly high price tag kept me from repairing it. I managed to get another 10K miles before purchasing a new Turbo (complete assembly with the exhaust manifold). However, the real issues appeared when I got a look at the underside of the car. It was completely rusted, with heat shields, frame joints, etc. The car looked like it was 30 years old. The protective shield (around the fuel tank) was falling off in chunks, which explained the loud noises coming out of the underside of the car because all this metal was bouncing off the drive shaft. As I grabbed the drive shaft to look closely, I realized the front differential pinion was also loose, apparently the bearings in there are shot. Now, I need to replace the front differential and all the underside protections. I reached out to Land Rover/Jaguar repeatedly (via email), but unfortunately, they simply ignored me. I found this pretty lousy and disrespectful of their customers.

Hello, I would like to share my experience with Land Rover. Unfortunately, my daughter's Land Rover had a known defect that caused a recall on other models. While on the expressway, the transmission went into neutral, which was quite concerning. The vehicle was only 6,000 miles out of warranty, and the dealer quoted $16,000 to replace the transmission. We have been in contact with the dealer and corporate representatives, but no resolution has been offered yet. We are disappointed with the customer service and reliability of the vehicle. We hope that Land Rover can address these issues and improve their quality and customer service. Thank you for your attention.

  2. Mateo Johnson 2024-07-21

Hey there! It's always important to be cautious when reading reviews. If you're interested in a car, make sure to ask plenty of questions, take it for a test drive, and even talk to current owners. By the way, I wanted to share that I've been the proud owner of my car for a year now and I absolutely love it! It's comfortable, reliable, and the perfect compact size for me. Plus, the styling is beautiful. I do want to mention a couple of minor things though. Firstly, the turbo can be a bit slow to kick in, so just be aware of that when pulling out into traffic. However, once it does kick in, it's like a rocket car! Secondly, there can be a slight exhaust smell in the cabin for the first 2-5 minutes upon start up. I contacted the service department and they said that other owners have reported the same issue. They suggested pushing the Man button on the circulation option, which has worked for me. Overall, I still absolutely love my car!

  4. Gilbert Johnson 2024-07-11

We've had our Evoque for a year now and my wife absolutely loves it. It's such a fun car to drive and we haven't had any issues with it. We're already planning on purchasing another one in two years, unless something drastic changes. It's quick, maneuverable, and has plenty of power and zip.

  5. Omer Batz 2024-06-24

I love my car, I named her Princess. She's very cute and the performance is excellent. When I get in my car, I feel like I'm in a spaceship. The music is absolutely fabulous. I got this car at an excellent price. I would recommend doing your research and taking your time. This car is above and beyond!
