2007 Jaguar Xk problems
The Jaguar XK is a two-door 2+2 grand tourer manufactured and marketed by Jaguar Cars from 1996–2012 and by Jaguar Land Rover from 2013–2014 in hatchback coupé and convertible body styles, across two generations. The XK was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1996 and was discontinued in July 2014.
The first generation was marketed as the XK8, replacing the XJS and was Jaguar's first 8-cylinder model since the Daimler 250, introducing the all-new Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. The XK8 shared its platform with the Aston Martin DB7 which was itself based on the stillborn XJ41/42 project built on a modified XJ-S chassis conceived in the mid-1980s. The second generation of the XK, noted for its aluminium monocoque chassis and construction, was launched in 2006 for the 2007 model year. The XKR performance variant was introduced in both of the generations with the second generation also offering a more powerful XKR-S variant.
XK8/XKR (1996–2006)
The XK8 was launched in 1996 to replace the XJS designed by then Jaguar design director Geoff Lawson. It was available in two body styles – a two-door coupé and two-door convertible with both variations featuring 2+2 seating. The car was the first in the Jaguar line-up to use Jaguar's newly developed 32-valve V8 engine – the AJ-V8 which had a displacement of 4.0 litres.
The XK8 was joined by a more powerful XKR in 1998. The XKR featured a supercharged variation of the V8 engine rated at 276 kW (375 PS; 370 hp). The engine was shared with the XJR but featured a new intercooler and a two-piece driveshaft. The supercharger was manufactured by Eaton and displaced at 2.0 litres. It generated 11.9 pounds of boost pressure to contribute to the higher power output. Visual differences from the XK8 included a rear spoiler, mesh front grille and hood louvres on the bonnet for improved airflow to the engine.
The XK8 came standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, while 18-inch (standard on the XKR), 19-inch, and 20-inch wheels were available for the XK8 and XKR at an additional cost. Jaguar's Adaptive Cruise Control is an optional feature available on both models. Both models came with all-leather interior, burl walnut trim, and side airbags. Two interior configurations were offered, the sport configuration was aimed at young buyers and had a leather interior with cloth seats while the classic trim featured more amenities.
The XK range received a mechanical update in 2002 with the engines in both the XK8 and XKR models being enlarged to 4.2 litres and gaining more power, the front headlamps were also updated by the addition of a clear lens. Further changes included new exterior colours and wheels along with different badging. The models were revised again in spring 2004 and notable changes included new wheel designs, bigger front and rear spoilers and a redesigned grille.
Initially, the ZF 5HP24 five-speed automatic transmission was coupled to the conventionally aspirated 4.0-litre model and a Mercedes W5A580 five-speed transmission to the supercharged version, but in 2002 the new ZF 6HP26 six-speed automatic transmission was fitted in both versions of the 4.2-litre model.

Common 2007 Jaguar Xk problems
The 2007 Jaguar XK, part of the X150 generation, has been known to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. One of the issues is related to the headlights, where some owners have reported melting xenon headlights that caused contained fires. This problem may be due to a defect in the headlight assembly, and it is crucial to address it immediately to avoid potential safety hazards.
Another common issue with the 2007 Jaguar XK is related to electrical problems, which can be particularly frustrating for owners. Some have reported that their cars fail to start at least twice a month, and in some cases, the keyless entry and ignition system may play up. These issues can be caused by various factors, including low battery voltage or faulty wiring. It is essential to have a professional diagnose and address these problems to ensure the vehicle's reliability and safety.

It is essential to have the fabric roof inspected regularly and repaired promptly if any issues are found.
In summary, the 2007 Jaguar XK has several common problems, including headlight defects, electrical issues, thermostat failure, rear halfshaft/driveshaft failure, and fabric roof problems. Owners should be aware of these issues and have their vehicles inspected and maintained regularly to ensure their reliability and safety.
What is the problem with the Jaguar XK engine?
The engines are renowned for oil leaks, they all leak engine oil. Indeed it was rumoured that this was a design attribute as it formed Jaguar's answer to underbody rust protection! The truth is that the engine has poor front and back oil seals, both in the sense of materials used and in their design.
Are Jaguar XK reliable cars?
While the Jaguar XK is considered a reliable luxury coupe as a whole, some years are simply less reliable than others. So for today's post, we highlight the Jaguar XK years to avoid if you're looking to buy a used model. Plus, we offer insights into why they should be approached with caution.
How many miles can a 2007 Jaguar XK last?
Most Jaguar vehicles will last for at least 150,000 miles, but there's a lot that a driver can do to push this number much higher. With regular oil replacement, belt changes, spark plug replacement, and other basic maintenance services, you can ensure that your Jaguar lasts for 200,000 miles or more.
Is the Jaguar XK expensive to maintain?
The average annual repair cost for a Jaguar is $1,123, which means it has average ownership costs.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-12-11
- Crash: 1
- VIN: SAJWA44B775
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: On at least 3 occasions, my vehicle had unintended acceleration and applying brakes did not stop the car. I put it in park to stop. I took it to the Foreign performance (mechanic shop) on 11-29-23 after the first time and they said they fixed it. It occurred again on 12-8-23. I again threw it into park. I called the shop on 12-11-23 and they agreed to see it on 12-12-23. I hit a car on 12-11-23 around 11:45 am coming out of my driveway. I had my car towed to mechanic. The other car did not need to be towed. On 12-20-23, Foreign Performance wrote: "Vehicle is driving normally at this time. Checked for any set faults, none stored. Tested the function of the accelerator pedal and the throttle body. Both function normally. There are no bulletin issues by the manufacturer for this problem related to this vehicle. Called the dealership to ask what they are doing to fix this problem with uncontrolled acceleration. They claim to never heard of such a problem and that they no longer work on these vehicles. The problem is well documented nationally and has existed since the vehicle was first produced. Bottom line is that the manufacturer and dealerships have washed their hands on the vehicle. The only advise to give would be to replace the accelerator pedal assembly, the throttle body and the engine control module all together and then program the engine control module to the highest level that is available. Vehicle should not be driven by the customer." Foreign Performance said they would not guarantee my vehicle would never do this again after their recommended repairs of $4027.91. It was Christmas, I was leaving on a planned vacation for two weeks and it was complicated so the vehicle is still at Foreign Performance and no work has been done so all components are available for inspection. No warning lights. Police and State Farm insurance have been involved. Needs body work as well after MVA--estimate of $1100 per state farm.

- Components: STRUCTURE
- Summary: WHILE DRIVING THE PASSENGER FOOTWELL BECAME DRENCHED WITH WATER WHICH STARTLED THE DRIVER AND OBVIOUSLY THE PASSENGER WHO WAS WET AND HER SHOES SOAKED IN WATER. THE CAUSE IS SOMETHING JAGUAR IS AWARE OF BECAUSE THEY HAVE ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TSB JTB001211 WHICH REPLACES THE DRAIN TUBE FROM THE AC. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN AND MANY JAGUAR XK VEHICLES 2007-2011 HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE BEEN FORCED TO PAY $1,200 - $1,500 FOR THE DEFECT TO BE REPAIRED. MANY VEHICLES ARE OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY PERIOD. THE SUDDEN RUSH OF WATER FROM THE DASH IS LIKELY TO CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-12-21
- VIN: SAJWA51A87W
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: THE ENGINE STALLED OUT WHEN WE WERE TRAVELING IN THE PASSING LANE AT SPEED ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. WE HAD TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY IN FRONT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE WE HAD JUST PASSED AND OTHER TRAFFIC COMING CLOSE BEHIND. DEFINITELY A SCARY SITUATION FOR US AND THE OTHER DRIVERS. WE WERE TOWED TO THE NEAREST JAG DEALER. THE DEALER HAD OUR CAR FOR TWO WEEKS. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. THE SERVICE TECH'S TOLD US THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF A FUEL PUMP GOING BAD IN AN X-TYPE. WHEN I QUESTIONED THE COST OF THE JOB, ABOUT $1450, I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. SINCE THAT TIME, WE HAVE HAD A BATTERY REPLACED, THE SECOND FOR THIS CAR SINCE WE HAVE OWNED IT, AND HAD TO HAVE BRAKE PADS REPLACED, AT WHICH TIME, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKES HAD A PROBLEM IN THE CALIPERS THAT CAUSED THE PADS TO SIT FURTHER FROM THE DISCS THAN THEY SHOULD. THIS BRAKE PROBLEM CAUSES US TO USE EXTRA PEDAL TRAVEL WHEN BRAKING THE CAR. THEN, ON DEC 9, 2013, THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FELL OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF OUR CAR. WE WERE ONLY DOING ABOUT 20 MPH SO THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, BUT WE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A JAG DEALER ABOUT 30 MILES AWAY. MY RESEARCH FOUND THAT WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS REMOVED, THE DIFFERENTIAL WOULD ALSO BE REMOVED. THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY THE SERVICE WRITER WHERE MY JAG WAS TOWED. ONE OF THE DIFFERENTIALS BOLTS BROKE WHERE IT APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN CRACKED, AS IF IT HAD BEEN OVER TORQUED WHEN INSTALLED! THE SERVICE WRITER ASKED TO SEE THE WORK ORDER FOR THE FUEL PUMP WORK, SO I ASKED HIM TO LOOK IT UP. HE WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND THE INFO, BECAUSE THE WORK WAS DONE OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE JAG SYSTEM DOES NOT RECORD OUT OF WARRANTY WORK! THAT IS PROBABLY WHY THE TECHS NEVER HEARD OF A FUEL PUMP GOING BAD OR A DIFFERENTIAL FALLING OUT OF A JAG CAR, EVEN THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN EXAMPLES OF BOTH REPORTED HERE! *TR
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2013-01-04
- VIN: SAJDA44B575
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
- Summary: INCIDENT #1 - JAN 2013: AS I WAS BRAKING TO A STOP, THE CAR SUDDENLY WENT TO WHAT I WOULD CALL "FULL THROTTLE". MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE SO I FIRMLY PRESSED THE BRAKE TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM CRASHING INTO MY BUILDING. I TRIED PUMPING THE ACCELERATOR QUICKLY WHILE PRACTICALLY STANDING ON THE BRAKE BUT THAT MADE NO DIFFERENCE IN THE RPMS. I PRESSED THE BUTTON TO STOP THE ENGINE. I RE-STARTED THE CAR AND IT RAN NORMALLY. INCIDENT #2 - FEB 2013: THINKING INCIDENT #1, ABOVE, WAS A FLUKE, I CONTINUED DRIVING THE CAR WITHOUT REPORTING THE INCIDENT TO MY JAGUAR DEALER. MY VICE PRESIDENT AND I STOPPED AT A MCDONALD'S, PAID AT WINDOW #1 AND AS WE MOVED TO WINDOW #2 TO PICK UP THE FOOD, THE CAR AGAIN WENT TO FULL THROTTLE'WITH NO ADVANCE WARNING WITH THE BACK WHEELS SPINNING. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AS THERE WAS A CAR IN THE LANE IN FRONT OF ME. THIS TIME I KNEW TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF QUICKLY. AGAIN, THE CAR RAN NORMALLY AFTER RE-STARTING IT. MY VICE PRESIDENT, JACK FRENCH, WILL PROVIDE TESTIMONY TO THIS INCIDENT. INCIDENT #3 - EARLY APRIL 2013: THE CAR WAS PARKED ALL DAY. I GOT IN TO LEAVE FOR THE DAY AND STARTED THE ENGINE. WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL IN PARK, THE ENGINE REVVED TO RED-LINE 4 TIMES IN A ROW ABOUT 2 SECS EACH. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE IT WAS DOING THIS AND NEVER TOUCHED THE ACCELERATOR OR BRAKE PEDAL DURING THE INCIDENT. AFTER REVVING FOUR TIMES TO RED LINE, THE ENGINE WENT BACK TO NORMAL IDLE. INCIDENT #4 - APRIL 25TH: MY VP AND I WERE AT A MEETING WITH THE CAR PARKED FOR SEVERAL HOURS. WE GOT IN AND DROVE ABOUT 4 BLOCKS. AS I BRAKED TO A STOP AT A STOP SIGN WITH A CAR IN FRONT OF ME , THE ENGINE AGAIN WENT FULL-THROTTLE WITH NO WARNING; THE BACK WHEELS SPINNING. I AGAIN PRESSED THE START BUTTON AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. MY VICE PRESIDENT WILL PROVIDE WRITTEN TESTIMONY OF THIS INCIDENT AS WELL. *TR

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-12-04
- VIN: SAJWA43B375
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: WHILE ACCELERATING TO CHANGE LANES MY VEHICLE WENT INTO WIDE OPEN THROTTLE. DESPITE REMOVING MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR AND SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES THE CAR COULD ONLY BE SLOWED TO 40 MPH. HIT THE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH SHUT THE VEHICLE DOWN INCLUDING LIGHTS. APPEARED I WOULD BE REAR ENDED THEREFORE HIT IGNITION AND VEHICLE RESTARTED WITH CAR STILL STUCK IN WOT WITH FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR. WITH ENGINE SCREAMING AND RIGHT FOOT FULLY ON BRAKE ONLY ABLE TO HOLD CAR DOWN TO 40 MPH. HIT IGNITION AGAIN WHICH SHUT CAR DOWN BUT ONCE AGAIN FOLLOWING CAR ABOUT TO REAR END ME AND THEREFORE ONCE AGAIN HIT THE IGNITION WITH SAME RESULT WITH CAR RACING FORWARD AT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE DESPITE NO ENGAGEMENT OF THE ACCELERATOR. THIS TIME AFTER HOLDING THE VEHICLE TO ABOUT 40 MPH WITH FULL PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE WITH MY RIGHT FOOT, AND THE ENGINE AT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE, ALL CARS HAD CLEARED OUT OF THE WAY. I THEREFORE HIT THE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE. THIS TIME I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A FULL STOP. I THEN PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL (UP UNTIL THIS TIME IT HAD BEEN IN DRIVE) AND PUSHED THE IGNITION ON THE CAR AND IT STARTED AT NORMAL RPM. I THEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND THE ENGINE REMAINED AT IDLE SPEED. I THEN , AT IDLE SPEED, TRAVELED TWO BLOCKS TO MY HOUSE. THE SMELL OF THE BURNING BRAKE PADS WAS TERRIBLE. THE NEXT MORNING I HAD THE VEHICLE TRANSPORTED ON A FLAT BED TRUCK TO THE LOCAL JAGUAR DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE REMAINS TO THIS DATE. THIS ALL TRANSPIRED OVER APPROXIMATELY 300-400 YARDS OVER A NUMBER OF SECONDS. THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE FLOOR OR IN THE DRIVING COMPARTMENT THAT INTERFERED WITH THE ACCELERATOR OR BRAKE. *TR
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-01-27
- VIN: SAJWA51A27W
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS (1/27/12 AND 3/23/12) THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 65-70 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE RESTARTED AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. FOR THE 1/27/12 EVENT, THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT IN THE PASSING LANE AND I HAD TO MAKE IT TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. THE DEALER DID NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE AFTER AN EXHAUSTIVE DIAGNOSIS. IT ALSO INCLUDED DRIVING THE VEHICLE OVER 400 MILES, MOST OF THEM AT A HIGH SPEED, IN AN ATTEMPT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IT DID STALL-OUT ONCE, AND THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER 30 MINUTES. THE SECOND EVENT WAS A MERGE FROM ONE INTERSTATE TO ANOTHER WITH THE VEHICLE STOPPING ON AN EXIT RAMP BRIDGE LEAVING LITTLE ROOM BETWEEN THE CAR AND BRIDGE WALL ON ONE SIDE AND THE EXIT RAMP ON THE OTHER. THIS RESULTED IN THE RECOMMENDATION TO REPLACE THE TWO FUEL PUMPS - WHICH I HAVE IN MY POSSESSION. I DO WANT TO POINT OUT THAT IN BOTH EVENTS WE WERE IN GREAT FEAR FOR OUR SAFETY. I ASSUME THIS IS NOT A COMMON PROBLEM, SINCE THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL OF THE FUEL PUMPS. I DID WANT TO REPORT IT IN CASE THERE IS AN EMERGING PROBLEM. *TR

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2008-03-25
- VIN: SAJWA43C679
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: MY WIFE AND I NEARLY SUFFERED A FATAL ACCIDENT OWING TO WHAT TURNED-OUT TO BE A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE JAGUAR MOTOR MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE RESIDENT IN OUR AND LIKELY EVERY 2007 AND LATER SUPERCHARGED JAGUAR ENGINE. OUR AUTOMOBILE, WITH 2800 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, WITHOUT WARNING WENT FROM ACCELERATING INTO THE IDLE MODE AND THEN REMAINED UNRESPONSIVE TO THROTTLE INPUT PLACING THE AUTOMOBILE IN A DEADLY 'T-BONE,' FORTUNATELY, THE DRIVER OF THE LINCOLN SUV (I CAN STILL SEE THE GRILL IN THE PASSENGER WINDOW AND HEAR MY WIFE'S SCREAMS), MANAGED TO STOP HIS VEHICLE JUST INCHES FROM THE PASSENGER DOOR. JAGUAR CALLS THE CONDITION THAT DISABLED THE CAR WITHOUT WARNING ITS "LIMP MODE." THE 'LIMP MODE' WAS FURTHER DESCRIBED BY THE DEALER AND A REPRESENTATIVE OF JAGUAR MANAGEMENT AS 'A MEANS OF PROTECTING A DRIVE-BY-WIRE ENGINE FROM DAMAGE.' SUBSEQUENT CORRESPONDENCE AND INCREDIBLY UNPRODUCTIVE AND ILL-INFORMED WITH CONVERSATIONS WITH JAGUAR OFFICIALS IN NEW JERSEY REVEALS THAT WHILE THEY TOO KNOW THIS CONDITION EXISTS THEY INTEND TO DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT UNLESS A CUSTOMER COMPLAINS. GIVEN ALL THE ABOVE AND A GREAT DEAL MORE, I REQUEST ODI, IN THE INTERESTS OF AMERICAN PUBLIC SAFETY AND TO ENFORCE CORPORATE INTEGRITY AND RESPONSIBILITY LAWS; REQUIRE JAGUAR TO CONDUCT A PUBLIC, IMMEDIATE RECALL AND PERMANENT REPAIR OF ALL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE DEFECTIVE SOFTWARE, AND FURTHER, THAT JAGUAR BE REQUIRED TO CERTIFY IN WRITING TO EVERY OWNER AND PERSPECTIVE BUYER A PERMANENT FIX TO THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN MADE AND THAT JAGUAR WILL REMAIN ACCOUNTABLE FOR ENSURING SUCH FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. I HAVE A GREAT DEAL OF INCREDIBLE DOCUMENTATION ON THE INCIDENT AND SUBSEQUENT DISCUSSIONS WITH JAGUAR OFFICIALS. I LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH ODI TO QUICKLY AND PERMANENTLY RESOLVE IT. *TR

- Manufacturer: JAGUAR CARS LTD
- Components: TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS
- Summary: JAGUAR IS RECALLING 112 MY 2007-2009 XK VEHICLES FITTED WITH RUN FLAT TIRES FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO.138, "TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM, (TPMS)." THE TPMS WARNINGS WERE TURNED OFF. - Remedy: DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE CAR CONFIGURATION FILE SETTINGS TO ENABLE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TO FLAG THE WARNING SYMBOLS AS REQUIRED BY FMVSS 138 AND ASSOCIATED TEST IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MESSAGE CENTER. THE REMEDY WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE JUNE 8, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT JAGUAR AT 1-201-818-8500.
