2019 Hyundai Elantra gt problems
The Hyundai Elantra, also known as the Hyundai Avante (Korean: 현대 아반떼), is a compact car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1990. The Elantra was initially marketed as the Lantra in Australia and some European markets. In Australia, this was due to the similarly named Mitsubishi Magna Elante model; similarly, in other markets, the name Avante is not used due to its similarity with Audi's "Avant" designation, which is used for their line-up of station wagons. The name was standardized as "Elantra" worldwide in 2001 (except in South Korea and Singapore).
First generation (J1; 1990)
The Elantra (codename J1) was launched in October 1990, and received a mid-term facelift in 1993.
It was sold in Europe from the spring of 1991. It replaced the somewhat larger on the outside Stellar, although that model had not been offered in many markets. The Elantra competed with the likes of the Ford Sierra and Vauxhall Cavalier/Opel Vectra, but at a considerably lower price.
The Elantra was powered by a Mitsubishi-designed 1.6 L (1595 cc) straight-four. This DOHC 16-valve 1.6 L unit produced 113 PS (83 kW) at 6000 rpm and could push the Elantra to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 9.5 seconds. The quarter-mile (0.4 km) run took 17.1 seconds and produced 129 km/h (80 mph). Top speed was 187 km/h (116 mph). The Elantra got 22 mpg‑US (11 L/100 km) in the city cycle. Starting in 1993 a Mitsubishi-designed 1.8 L (1836 cc) inline-four option was available; this unit produces 135 PS (99 kW) at 6000 rpm and replaced the twin-cam 1.6 in the home market.

Common 2019 Hyundai Elantra gt problems
Based on complaints from owners of the 2019 Hyundai Elantra GT, here are some common problems reported:
- Misfires: Some owners have experienced misfires in their Elantra GT, which can be addressed by replacing the MSD Ignition coils. If not fixed, this issue can lead to further complications.
- Transmission Concerns: The dual-clutch transmission (DCT) in the Elantra GT has been a point of contention. Owners have noted that the DCT can slip if not driven correctly, especially in stop-and-go traffic. Additionally, the transmission can exhibit rough shifting and dislike hard acceleration from a stop.
- Loose Rear Spoiler Nuts: Another reported issue is the rear spoiler nuts becoming loose, causing the spoiler to rattle around. This can be a nuisance and may require tightening to resolve the problem.
- Phantom Creaks and Knocks: Owners have mentioned phantom creaks and knocks coming from nuts and bolts under trim pieces, creating noises that echo throughout the interior of the car. Identifying and securing these loose components can help eliminate these sounds.
- Paint and Trim Concerns: Some owners have reported issues with fading, chalking, peeling, or cracking paint, particularly on exterior surfaces like the hood and roof. This can be addressed through repainting or warranty extensions provided by Hyundai.
- Steering and Suspension Problems: Complaints have been made about steering-related issues, such as noise when turning the steering wheel, which have been resolved under warranty. Addressing these concerns promptly can help maintain the vehicle's performance.
- Climate System Malfunctions: Problems with the climate system, including issues with the AC compressor, blower motor, and refrigerant leakage, have been reported by some owners. Timely maintenance and repairs can prevent these issues from escalating.
These common problems reported by owners of the 2019 Hyundai Elantra GT highlight various areas where maintenance and attention may be needed to ensure the vehicle's optimal performance and longevity.

ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-29
- VIN: 5NPD84LF2KH
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: I am experiencing an issue where the O-rings in the engine are not preventing oil from entering the engine stated by a repair shop that took a look into issues where my engine would cut out while driving, lurching when downshifting. I believe this to be related to a current recall that is happening with 2019-22 model elantras. This poses a significant safety hazard to me and other drivers due to the engine cutting out while driving and prevents oil from being distributed in the engine without a warning light telling me that my oil pressure and oil level were low potentially causing a vehicle fire. I received a check engine light and not long after started to see my engine cut out, lurch and have a significant lack of power about 20 miles after the check engine light came on. My car currently is at 67k miles and mostly use it on the highway.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-02
- VIN: 5NPD84LF3KH
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Vehicle stalls when coming to a stop or light. Very reminiscent of recall [XXX], but when I called local dealership and Natl Hyundai Customer Service, I was told that the recall was not specific to my Vin Nbr. The vehicle stalls in traffic which is extremely dangerous and gives no engine light or OBD code. I have taken it to a few local mechanics and they cannot resolve the issue. They have changed parts that could possibly be the issue, but it solves nothing. The vehicle has 109,471 miles 2019 Elantra which is practically new still. I would like my Vin added to that recall so it can get fully checked out by Hyundai. Ive spent a few hundred dollars already and am tapped out, plus the stress of getting into an accident crosses my mind every day and worries me. Thank you. ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-19
- VIN: KMHD84LF2KU
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: The vehicle has demonstrated a recurring and dangerous problem of stalling while in operation, without any warning indicators or lights. This fault has not only persisted but has also led to a near-collision incident, underlining its severity. The first occurrence of this issue was when my car stalled unexpectedly during regular driving, with no dashboard warning lights or indicators of a malfunction. After taking the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership, I was informed that the car was burning oil, which had spread throughout the engine. This diagnosis led to costly repairs amounting to $2,500. However, merely two months post-repair, the same problem reoccurred. The car stalled abruptly as I was merging onto a highway, nearly causing a severe accident. This incident was particularly alarming as it happened without any prior warning or indication of engine trouble. I emphasize that I have diligently maintained the vehicle, adhering to the recommended 3,000-mile oil change intervals and ensuring all fluids are regularly checked and replaced as necessary. The recurrence of this issue despite proper maintenance raises significant concerns about the reliability and safety of the 2019 Hyundai Elantra model.

It started back up after 30 minutes and I was able to drive it home, but it continued to make loud noises and I had to drive very slow. Battery is good with 70% charge and the alternator is good.

This car has a great personality! I purchased one with the tech and style package, and the features exceeded all of my expectations. It's so much fun to drive! While the acceleration is a bit slow, it's to be expected for a 4 cylinder car. I'm used to driving a 6 cylinder car. The cabin feels spacious, and the trunk has ample storage space. It's also very easy to get in and out of. While the fuel economy could be better, overall I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase!
-
Great little hatchback! It's fast, durable, and good-looking. I love it and it handles very well.
-
I found the car to be reliable and fuel-efficient, with only minor maintenance required for brakes and tires. However, the seat comfort could be improved.

This HYUNDAI model is brand new and I've only had it for about six weeks. So far, it's been great! It's peppy and has enough speed to handle the highway, even though it doesn't have a lot of power. The only issue I've had is that the passenger side seat belt sensor is very sensitive. It sets off the 'seat belt not fastened' warning light and signal when I put my smartphone or a bag of fast food on the seat, which can be hard to shut off while driving. However, it's been getting me great gas mileage! The main reason I bought it is because of the lifetime warranty on the HYBRID battery and system. I'm not a fan of working with new car dealers, but the warranty and gas mileage made it worth it. Ask me in a year or two how the car is working out...

I understand that many people recommend the 1.6 t, and I agree that it is a great option. However, I personally purchased the 2.0 base on a budget and have found it to be more than adequate. Surprisingly, it is quite zippy! One tip I have is to run it on premium fuel for even better response than you might expect.

Whenever the car drove over anything other than a perfectly flat part of the roadway at higher speeds, the car suspension would absorb the bump with a floating, almost swaying motion. This could be a deal breaker for me as it might make me car sick if I had to drive it every day. However, I am hopeful that the N-line version with the better sport suspension will fix this poorly designed suspension. Update: I drove a 2019 Elantra Gt N line with the Tech package, and it was much better than the base model. It had the 1.6 turbo with the dual clutch transmission, a multilink rear suspension, and other suspension tweaks that gave it a much better ride and handling. I almost bought the car, but Hyundai foolishly omitted the blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert, which is baffling as it is available in the much cheaper base models. This N line is the most expensive trim level, and at this price point, I would expect these safety aids to be included.

I have owned the vehicle for 13 months and it has 9000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I have had several serious issues with it. Firstly, at 2000 miles, 2 tires developed bubbles and as they were discontinued, I had to replace all 4 tires. Then, at 5000 miles later, I had to replace 2 more tires. Secondly, the transmission keeps slipping and thirdly, the wipers keep hitting the hood. The car has already been painted twice. Fourthly, the car drives terribly in rain and snow, even after upgrading to better tires. I was advised to downsize to 17 inch tires and purchase taller profile tires. Lastly, the navigation system is terrible and always wrong. I use my phone (MapQuest) instead. Don't get me wrong, I like the car, but the issues listed above are enough for me to consider selling it.

I purchased a 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Sport in late September 2018 with only 170 miles on it. Unfortunately, I experienced some transmission problems when I reached 800 miles, but thankfully it was covered under warranty. However, I am now facing another issue with the engine at 4300 miles and it is currently in the shop. The dealership informed me that the engine was losing compression and had a bad head gasket, along with some other issues. Although they initially denied my warranty claim, I have sought legal assistance to resolve this situation. While my experience has been frustrating, I would still encourage anyone considering a Hyundai or Kia to explore all their options before making a decision.
