Dodge Durango 2005 problems
The Dodge Durango is a mid-size/full-size SUV produced by Dodge starting with the 1998 model year. The first two generations were very similar in that both were based on the Dodge Dakota and Dodge Ram, both featured a body-on-frame construction and both were produced at the Newark Assembly Plant in Newark, Delaware through the 2009 model year.
The third-generation Durango began with the 2011 model year. It is built on the same platform as the Jeep Grand Cherokee, features unibody construction, and has been assembled at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan since late 2010.
Each generation had options for different engine sizes and power ratings, with different transmissions also. In 2009 a hybrid variant was introduced, but ended quickly with the second generation Durango. From 2007 to 2009 the Durango was available as the Chrysler Aspen from Chrysler. Over two million Durangos have been sold since it was introduced in 1998.

This is very common while parking, when often pedestrians are present and the vehicle becomes unpredictable due to this issue. POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-01-17
- VIN: 1D4HB48D15F
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: My 2005 Durango all of a sudden has decided to stall while driving . I've bought this vehicle almost 2 years ago, and this is by far the scariest experience I've had in it. The first time it happened was as I was slowing down to stop at a red light on January 17th. Since then it has been stalling one at least 3 to 5 times a week . Something isn't right. I did receive a code from my Milewise ins OBD reader today, that said P1794 URGENCY UNKNOWN - contact your mechanic . That's one of 3 I got . The other two are p 0700 Transmission control system ( MIL request ) Urgent - have checked ASAP AND - P0430 CATALYST system efficiency below threshold. Urgent - have checked ASAP This tells me something is seriously wrong and it's going to cost me a fortune. Which for me is impossible to even try to contemplate. I am disabled and my income is not enough. I can not afford to fix this, nor can I afford to buy something else. This is a real problem that I can't afford and it should have been fixed before when it was brought to your attention back in 2005.

I looked it up online and mine was never replaced but “checked” before I owned it. I don’t know why it was replaced because my vehicles is obviously affected by this recall and the dealer will not fix it because it was previously checked. I’m scared of the danger this issues has. I’m a single dad and this is my only vehicle. It happens regularly every time I refuel.

- Summary: I have had my durango for about 2 years, one day I went to start it and it clicked as if battery had died. When I jumped it, it started right up. I noticed that my dash had a tire sensor light and a light saying Overhead lamp on. I turned my overhead switch and all my lights in the car turned on and then off when i turned switch.( normal) so I knew something was up. After doing some research I read about the recall. I Made an appointment on the 15th of June to get a recall for my instrument panel fixed. I dropped my car off at 7 am my appointment was at 8am. I called around 11:30 to get an ETA since I was on a time limit for work and live an hour away. The dealership called to tell me that he needed to take out cluster and test it and if it was cluster he would have to order it and it could be a few days. If it was fine it was a circuit Issue and he would need to fix it. Thank god my mother was in the same area visiting and was able to give me a ride home. He then called that evening and asked if I owned another Key/FOB. I told them I didn't and my fob has never worked since i purchased the vehicle. He stated that he got the recall all finished and fixed but now all the lights on my dash were flashing, my headlights the horn, flashers and something" went wonky" there. He then tried to tell me they needed to order a new fob to program it to my car and it was going to cost me almost $400. I told them I was not going to pay that amount and that it seems like they messed something up when they put it together. I picked up my car Friday the 17th and my tire pressure light was still on. After getting home and checking tires they were all fine. The next day I went to start my car and the Headlight lamp light came back onto my dash. I already had to take 2 days off work and now have to miss more to have this recall done right. I looked up my vin today the 20th and it says my recall is incomplete! To top it off they never gave me any paperwork or have me sign anything.

This is my 3rd Durango and I love it. The interior design is far superior to the Durango's of the past. While I love the look of the vehicle from the front, the rear could use some improvement. I've always had the upgraded V8 engine and while the HEMI's response is good, it hasn't quite brought the power that I expected. Although it's not what I've been accustomed to in previous models, it's still a great car.

If you're in the market for an SUV, I highly recommend checking out the Dodge Durango. Living in New England, it's important to have a vehicle that can handle adverse weather conditions, and the Durango is a true winner in that regard. On a recent long trip, my kids were comfortable and enjoyed the superior DVD system. In the past, we had a Ford Expedition, but it was the worst quality vehicle we have ever owned. After being in the shop more than home, we traded it for the Durango, and we couldn't be happier with our decision. The Durango performs well and is a joy to drive. So, if you're looking for a reliable and comfortable SUV, definitely give the Durango a chance!

I bought my Durango for its utility and it has exceeded my expectations. With the best towing capacity of any full-size SUV on the market, it pulls my boat with ease. But what I love most about it is how comfortable and easy it is to drive. The Hemi engine has a deep, throaty growl that lets you know it's a powerful machine, but it's not overbearing. The Durango is also surprisingly easy to maneuver and park in tight spaces. If you're looking for a full-size SUV that's both capable and comfortable, the Durango is the perfect choice.

You've made an excellent choice with this SUV! Despite the initial sticker price, you can expect to receive a rebate of up to $8000. The vehicle is incredibly spacious and comfortable, easily accommodating up to six passengers. The DVD/sound system is top-notch, and the climate control works flawlessly. The Hemi engine provides impressive power and acceleration, making it feel like a sports car. I was able to purchase a fully-loaded Limited model for just $32K, and it's covered under warranty for 70K miles. The fit and finish are superb, especially for an American brand. With the seats folded down, there's plenty of room for large items like 4x8 sheets of plywood, and it can even tow up to 12,000 lbs. I'm confident that you'll be thrilled with your choice!

I love everything about it! Its mileage is the only downfall, but it's really not that bad. I have the 4.7 V8 and that's enough power for me. I haven't had any problems with it either.

Lousy gas mileage, large blind spots, and a poorly thought-out dashboard panel are just a few of the issues I've encountered with this car. The back seat is also too small for my liking. I must admit, I'm starting to miss my Pathfinder. Can you blame me?

Firstly, I would like to mention that the gas mileage may not be suitable for those with longer commutes. Secondly, as a parent of five young children, I found it difficult to get them in and out of the vehicle, especially with larger strollers. Additionally, the interior seems to be showing signs of wear and tear despite gentle use. Overall, I would recommend this vehicle for those with fewer children and shorter commutes. However, for larger families and longer commutes, it may not be the most practical option.

You have every option available with this vehicle. Mechanically, the oil has been changed and it runs smoothly. However, the interior build quality could use some improvement as some parts have fallen off, such as the seat belt holder and door reflectors on both sides. The air conditioning and heater blower could also use some work. Additionally, the light tan interior can be difficult to keep clean, especially the arm rest. The mileage is not accurate due to the computer and odometer being off by 7%, which can be frustrating. Despite these issues, the service team has been working to resolve them and provide the best possible experience for you.

Great to hear that you enjoyed the ride and handling of your large truck! It's awesome that you have plenty of room for all your stuff, and the stereo sound and DVD player are definitely a plus. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I'm glad to hear that you enjoy driving the Durango! I wanted to share a couple of things that I've learned about it. Firstly, I've found that the cloth seats can be easily snagged, so investing in seat covers might be a good idea to keep them in good condition. Secondly, I've found that it can be a bit tricky to install a car seat in the safest position, which is in the middle of the back seat. This can be a bit of a challenge with seatbelts and other passengers in the back. Additionally, if you have the Durango without the 3rd row seating, there isn't much room for anyone to sit in the back seats, including a 3-year-old in a car seat. It's definitely not suitable for an infant! Despite these challenges, I think the Durango has a sleek appearance and is a great car overall!
