The cooperation between GM and Isuzu to build a light-duty truck and offer it in North America returns to an original arrangement the two companies had in the 1970s with the Chevrolet LUV, a rebadged Isuzu Faster.

- Summary: The high pressure fuel pump broke twice within a 6 month period. The first time, I was traveling at 70 mph in the middle of 100 degree weather in Texas. When I took it to the shop, the mechanic mentioned that the bolt broke inside of the engine and caused the high pressure fuel pump to break and dump gasoline everywhere. It was repaired by adding a new pump and fuel line. After driving it for 5 months, the same issue happened again while driving 30 mph. My safety was put at risk since it was large amounts of gasoline that it was throwing which could have easily caused a explosion/fire. The warning message was a check engine light and the truck going into limp mode. From my research, this exact issue was a recall for the 2018 version of the truck.

I had a difficult experience with my 2019 GMC Canyon extended cab 4x4 V6. Despite checking off all the right boxes on paper and looking and driving great during the test ride, I encountered transmission issues, grinding vibration sounds from the engine, sounds of liquid sloshing around behind the dash, and a broken AC since mid-August. Unfortunately, none of these issues have been resolved and it's already October. I brought it in back in August and called to pick it up the same day so they can get the parts. I suffered through August and September in the heat with health issues until they took the truck in. I haven't had the truck for a couple of weeks now and driving a loaner. The dealer has no ETA and the corporate office does not ever seem to return calls or call back when they promise to call back. This has been a challenging ownership experience. If I knew this going in, I would have opted for the (supposedly) more reliable Toyota Tacoma, even if it meant giving up some of the features I got with the Canyon. I would advise others to avoid this truck. 4/3/2020: I am updating this review to share my experience with a dealership in the NYC area. Unfortunately, they only had two mechanics and their dealership served an entire NYC borough. To make matters worse, my issue happened during the GM strike. Even worse, GM corporate was absolutely uncaring when I called them, they did absolutely nothing for me, except throw me to person to person until I got a head supervisor and by that time (close to two months later in October) she said 'it's fixed and we owe you nothing.' If you have any issues, you can expect that kind of care from GM's dealership and senior corporate management. Since then, I have had no further issues, and I installed winter tires in November (Cooper Discoverer M+S 245/75R16 111 S Tires), on 16They were not the best, but for $75 per tire, they performed better than the stock tires in deep snow and mud. After the issues I had with GM, I decided to upgrade the speakers to something better. I installed Focal Integration ISC 165 in the rear and Focal Integration ISC 690 in the front, without any splicing, using the Metra 72-4572 adapters (which plug right into the truck's wiring harness). The sound is much better, but it takes a while for the speakers to loosen up for a little more bass response. The bass is not exceptional, even after they loosen up. They would probably perform better with an AMP. The truck got me through the rest of the fall and winter, and now we are in Spring. I have put on 8K miles since October and have not had any other issues. The truck is performing well, doing what it is supposed to, and is very comfortable. I highly recommend the Bose upgrade for this truck as the stock speakers are not great at all. Auto-4WD is a great mode, especially in rain and light snow.

We have owned our Canyon for nearly 2 years now. Apart from a minor shifting issue, which was promptly resolved by the dealership, this truck has been exceptional. It effortlessly tows our boat and has proven to be an incredibly dependable vehicle.

I recently upgraded from a Chevy Colorado to the GMC Canyon Denali and I must say, I'm impressed! The ride is smooth and the V6 engine provides plenty of power. It's a practical and attractive compact pickup truck that meets all our needs. However, I have experienced some reliability issues and needed to have the steering wheel, heater core, and differential replaced before 36K miles. Thankfully, these were all covered by the warranty. I have also had to replace the serpentine belt and A/C compressor, and now I'm looking at replacing the oil lines and radiator, all before hitting 50K miles. As someone who has owned GM products for the past 30 years, I have noticed a significant decline in the quality of the build, parts, and quality control. Despite these issues, I'm still happy with my purchase and will consider other brands in the future.

Hi there! I recently traded in my 2018 Toyota Rav4 for a 2018 Canyon Denali, thinking it was the top of the line. However, I was surprised to find out that it had less options than my previous car, such as no side collision avoidance, no active cruise control, and no back up sensors. I was expecting more from a top of the line car!

Unfortunately, it has required repairs twice, once for an exhaust sensor replacement costing over $300 and the second time for a faulty turbo which cost me over $3000. Despite these setbacks, I remain confident in my decision to purchase the Duramax and look forward to enjoying its benefits in the future.

I bought the vehicle back in March 2019 and, overall, I like the truck. However, I have had some issues with their 'Infotainment System'. Despite being told that the USB ports support USB devices with audio files in a number of formats, including mp3, the system does not recognize a USB stick. I have tried USB sticks of different capacities from different manufacturers, formatted in both NTFS and FAT32, as indicated in the Infotainment System booklet that came with the vehicle, but nothing seems to work. I contacted GM by phone two weeks ago and, after multiple attempts to get to someone that could help me, I was left feeling frustrated. The first person I spoke to 'escalated' the issue and assigned a case number, but then implied that the fault was the dealer's and promptly hung up after stating 'I have to terminate this call'. The second person I spoke to was a bit more understanding and listened to what I had to say, but in the end, I was left with the promise that they'll get back to me. I have searched the GMC.com websites and have found nothing that truly says what it should and shouldn't do. The General Manager at the dealer has gone so far as to say that they'll pay for an aftermarket system if I can find one that will work, but unfortunately, I haven't found anything. This experience has left me feeling disappointed, and I am unlikely to purchase another GM product in the future.
