In late 2005, Isuzu offered a version in North America called the Isuzu i-series. This North American model Isuzu shared North American powertrains, styling, and equipment with the Colorado/Canyon twins and differed from Isuzu's worldwide offering. All Chevrolet, GMC, and Isuzu versions worldwide are based on the GMT355, itself the basis for the GMT 345-based Hummer H3. Most vehicles for markets outside North America are manufactured at a GM plant in Rayong, Thailand. All North American-market vehicles were manufactured by Shreveport Operations.
The cooperation between GM and Isuzu to build a light-duty truck and offer it in North America returns to an original arrangement the two companies had in the 1970s with the Chevrolet LUV, a rebadged Isuzu Faster.

- Summary: The rear camera and wire harness for the Rear Backup Camera became corroded and stopped working months ago. This is vital technology that our children have grown up with to ensure the safety of backing up in case something is behind the vehicle including young children, toys, equipment or someone simply walking by your driveway while you're backing up. The Service Manager at Billion GMC in Sioux Falls, SD (Dan Dunnagan) said they are replacing tons of the rear cameras due to corrosion, which might be caused by water getting into the system or faulty parts and faulty wiring from the product manufacturer. This is certainly a safety issue. I had it repaired at a cost of $591.84 for the rear camera and wire harness plus labor. This issue on GMC Canyon and Sierra 1500 pickups should be investigated as the Rear Camera is a vital piece of safety equipment and if a large number of these are faulty, subject to corrosion or poor manufacturing, it should be brought forward to protect consumers.

- Summary: I was involved in a MVA with another car. The other car had all their airbags deploy after they struck me. None of my airbags deployed. I was hit in the right front corner ahead of my right tire. The secondary impact was to my right side between my rear passenger door and rear tire. They hit me with enough force to bend the frame of my truck, crack my engine block and the appraisal from the repair shop came to over $34K without any engine work. I was the only one in my vehicle, thankfully. I am not sure how many occupants were in the other vehicle. But they were transported to the hospital by ambulance. My wife took me in our other vehicle. I was diagnosed with a concussion, assorted bruises, aches and pains. What troubles me is that while my airbags didn't deploy, the other vehicles did! I was spun 90* to 180* from the way I was traveling. (I don't recall any portion of the accident, I was planning on making a right hand turn and I ended up the opposite way from the way I intended to go. I fell that there was sufficient force involved to have my airbags deploy and I did contact GMC to make them aware of it as well.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
- Consequence: An incorrect label may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will mail owners a new B-pillar label, free of charge. Owners may apply the label, or bring it to a dealer for installation. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 17, 2021. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212340735.

- Summary: General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV and 2021 GMC Canyon and Sierra 1500, 2500 and 3500, Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV and Chevrolet Blazer, Camaro, Colorado, Equinox, Silverado 1500, 2500 and 3500, Suburban and Tahoe vehicles. Incorrect bolts may have been used at one or more fastening locations to secure the seat belts to the vehicle. If an incorrect bolt was used, the seat belt may not be properly attached to the vehicle.
- Consequence: If a seat belt assembly is not properly attached to the vehicle, the seat belt may not properly restrain an occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the suspect bolts, free of charge. The recall began January 29, 2021. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8785, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is N202322230.

I purchased my Canyon AT4 in February 2021 and have driven about 3K miles so far. It's been a great truck! I downsized from a full-size 2018 Sierra, and the Canyon works great for me as I mostly use it to tow my bass boat. I really like the size of the truck as it's easier to get it in and out of my single door garage. The V6 provides all the power I need to tow my bass boat with ease! The only downside is that the door pocket storage is not very useful, and I wish it had a CD player as I have a ton of CDs that I haven't burned to a USB. If you're a fan of a truck ride, then the AT4 is the perfect choice for you, as I love the type of ride it provides in a truck.

I've had my vehicle for 6 months now and the only real issue I've had is that the fuel system is slow to take fuel. However, the dealer was able to figure out the problem and identified a faulty fuel filler neck. The fit and finish of the vehicle is almost perfect and I'm very pleased with the paint finish. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase!

I've had my Canyon for a while now and have only been to GMC for routine maintenance. It has good power and shifts great. I purchased it specifically to pull my travel trailer, so now the real test begins!

I recently purchased a 2020 Colorado and after 4 weeks of driving it, I noticed it began to jerk. Despite my husband's suggestion that it was due to the 4 cyl, it turned out to be something else. While driving 70 on the highway, the jerking became worse and I immediately took it to the dealership. After 4 weeks, they informed me that it needed a new alternator, which was surprising for a new truck. Unfortunately, I had not even made my first truck payment yet. I requested a replacement vehicle, but was told by the repair department manager that it was not possible and GMC does not offer that option. I wrote a negative review on the dealership and filed a complaint with my credit union loan department. I also contacted the dealership's general manager directly. Within two weeks, they found me a new 2020 Canyon, transferred my step bars to the new truck, sprayed my bed and gave me a rubber, sprayed floor lining. I was happy with the replacement and the speed of it, but I still have concerns about the alternator issue. GMC has always been my go-to vehicle, but now I have some doubts.

My Canyon has 21,000 miles on it and unfortunately experienced a mechanical issue. Despite this setback, I am confident in the expertise of the mechanics who are currently working on it. While waiting for a head gasket, I have been in contact with GMC and they have been responsive to my concerns. Although I have missed out on some plans due to this unexpected issue, I am optimistic that my truck will be back on the road soon.
