Ford F-250 sd problems
The Ford Super Duty (also known as the Ford F-Series Super Duty) is a series of heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1999 model year. Slotted above the consumer-oriented Ford F-150, the Super Duty trucks are an expansion of the Ford F-Series range, from F-250 to the F-600. The F-250 through F-450 are offered as pickup trucks, while the F-350 through F-600 are offered as chassis cabs.
Rather than adapting the lighter-duty F-150 truck for heavier use, Super Duty trucks have been designed as a dedicated variant of the Ford F-Series. The heavier-duty chassis components allow for heavier payloads and towing capabilities. With a GVWR over 8,500 lb (3,900 kg), Super Duty pickups are Class 2 and 3 trucks, while chassis-cab trucks are offered in Classes 3, 4, 5, and 6. The model line also offers Ford Power Stroke V8 diesel engines as an option.
Ford also offers a medium-duty version of the F-Series (F-650 and F-750), which is sometimes branded as the Super Duty, but is another chassis variant. The Super Duty pickup truck also served as the basis for the Ford Excursion full-sized SUV.
The Super Duty trucks and chassis-cabs are assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and at Ohio Assembly in Avon Lake, Ohio. Prior to 2016, medium-duty trucks were assembled in Mexico under the Blue Diamond Truck joint venture with Navistar International.

Common Ford F-250 sd problems
The Ford F-250 Super Duty is a popular heavy-duty pickup truck, but like any vehicle, it has its share of common problems. Here are three major issues that F-250 owners have reported based on search results:
- Engine Troubles:
Engine issues are a common complaint among Ford F-250 owners. The 2006 model stands out as the worst iteration for engine problems, with specific issues including EGR failure, stalling engine while driving, and sudden loss of power. These engine troubles can be costly and inconvenient for drivers, as they may require expensive replacements or repairs.
- Suspension Issues:
Suspension problems are another concern for F-250 owners, particularly in the 2006 and 2011 models. Issues include death wobble, hyper shaking, and shaking and loss of control. These suspension difficulties can lead to an inability to control the vehicle and may result in expensive repairs.
- Steering Difficulties:
Steering issues have been reported in several versions of the Ford F-250, with the 2017 model being the most prominent. Problems include wobbles when steering and locking up the steering wheel. These control issues also correlate with the suspension difficulties mentioned earlier.
In addition to these issues, the 2019 Ford F-250 has faced specific complaints, such as the death wobble, which can be a frightening experience for drivers. One owner reported that the death wobble was so severe that it felt like a miracle they didn't crash.
While the Ford F-250 Super Duty is a capable heavy-duty pickup truck, it is essential to be aware of these common problems to make an informed decision when purchasing a used model. Regular maintenance and inspections can help identify and address these issues before they become significant problems.

- Date Complaint: 2024-09-13
- VIN: 1FT8W2BN9PE
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Variable Displacement Oil Pump delivers oil to the engine at low pressure/capacity during idle conditions. Routine occurrences of prolonged idle time may result in excess wear to the engine camshaft lobes and valve tappet surfaces due to reduced lubrication. Overtime, the engine may progressively run rough due to cylinder misfire. Additionally, customers may hear engine tapping noises and the Check Engine Light may illuminate. This causes delamination of the lifters and camshaft which sends metal throughout the engine causing total engine failure and this requires a completely new engine. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Beyond the financial implications, A sudden breakdown on a busy road can lead to dangerous situations, putting both me and other drivers at risk. Additionally, driving a vehicle with a compromised engine can result in further damage and potentially cause accidents. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes there are many forums and videos online about this issue in the 7.3 Godzilla engine produced by ford. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? My vehicle is currently at the dealership for repairs which they said they are unable to do so I will be taking it to another dealership next week. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? In my vehicle there was no CEL but in other customers vehicles the CEL will appear if the problem is not caught soon enough.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-20
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-08
- VIN: 1FT8W2BM6RE
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: Headlights on new Platinum 2024 F250--when driving at night there are several issues. On low beam there is a black line that shows up across the upper view. On high beam the black line is even more prominent and shapes start showing up in the lights. Squares first then as you drive and turn they change to V, M and X shapes. (see pictures). The truck has 560 miles on it and it has been to the Ford dealership twice. They are saying that there is nothing wrong with the lights, and these lights are the new projector lights from Ford. They even pulled another Platinum 2024 F250 next to mine to compare the lights and they are the same (see pictures) I am not getting anywhere with Ford, our local dealership is trying, but Ford is not helping them. I even made a call to customer service on 8/22/24. They told me that I need to go to another dealership and get a second opinion. These lights are very distracting with shapes moving across your line of vision and could be distracting to other vehicles. Also, there are totally blacked out areas on the sides, we live in a high deer population area, being able to see in the ditches is imperative. I do not want to drive at night due to it being unsafe. Truck is available for inspection upon request. Its just parked for now until we can get the lights changed or Ford does a recall. This is my second complaint filed online. I never got a call back from the first complaint.

- Date Complaint: 2024-09-01
- Fire: 1
- VIN: 1FT7W2BTXPE
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: The engine had a life threatening malfunction. Currently, there are arrangements being made to move the truck to my insurance company's property. I'm sure my insurance company would allow and arrange a site visit to inspect the truck. It happened so fast and without warning, we were blessed that we were able to escape the truck without losing our lives or getting severely burned. Anyone who helped or passed by was put at risk due to the fire or possible explosion that could have accrued from the truck fuel tank or trailer propane bottles. The fire inspector and insurance company have conducted there preliminary inspections and are in the process of writing up their reports. There was no warning lamp, message or symptom of a engine problem or failure prior to the engine bursting into flames, but the only warning that accrued after the engine caught fire, was the engine was being shut off.

- Summary: The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated upon depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The vehicle was taken to the local Ford dealer on numerous occasions where various software updates and maintenance checks were performed on the vehicle; however, the failure persisted after each repair. Recently, the contact stated that while the vehicle was idling, there was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact's friend tested the vehicle by placing the vehicle into park and depressing the accelerator pedal; both the contact and the friend noticed that the vehicle would inch forward despite the vehicle being in park. The failure mileage was approximately 400.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-02-09
- Date Complaint: 2024-02-09
- VIN: 1FT8W2BN2PE
- Components: POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: During the 1st 20 min or so of operation the truck tries to "high idle" when in gear. This forces the operator use excessive brake pressure to keep the vehicle stopped. There have been several times my leg gets tired of holding the brake pedal down so hard the truck will creep forward unintentionally. The brakes grunt due to excessive force trying to keep the truck stopped. The dealer blows it off as normal, saying the truck is doing what its supposed to. I don't think the truck should be allowed to high idle in gear. I am afraid that I am going to accidently roll forward and hit someone. I have driven other 3/4 ton trucks and the ford 7.3 engine this is the only one that does this. I called ford and they said there is nothing to do if the dealership says the truck is operating properly.
