The Ford Crown Victoria ("Crown Vic") is a full-size sedan that was marketed and manufactured by Ford. The successor to the Ford LTD Crown Victoria, two generations of the model line were produced from the 1992 until the 2012 model years. The Ford counterpart of the Mercury Grand Marquis, the Crown Victoria was the largest sedan marketed by Ford in North America, slotted above the Ford Taurus. The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (1992–2011) was marketed specifically for law-enforcement use; a long-wheelbase Crown Victoria sedan (2002–2011) was marketed primarily for taxi cab fleets.

The Crown Victoria was produced on the rear-wheel drive, body-on-frame Ford Panther platform, sharing its chassis with the Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car. From 1997 until their 2011 discontinuation, the three model lines were the sole four-door sedans produced in North America with a full-length frame, rear-wheel drive, and a standard V8 engine. While the front and rear crumple zones were engineered into the vehicle, it was one of Ford's products that were not of unibody construction for the entire generation. The Crown Victoria was the last car made using the Ford Panther platform.

For its entire production, the Crown Victoria was produced by Ford Canada alongside the Grand Marquis at St. Thomas Assembly in Southwold, Ontario. From 1991 until 2011, over 1.5 million cars (including Police Interceptors) were produced by St. Thomas Assembly prior to its closure. A 2012 Crown Victoria (intended for Middle East export) was the final vehicle produced by the facility. Following the discontinuation of the model line, the Crown Victoria was not directly replaced, with the full-size Ford Taurus serving as the next basis for Ford police cars.

It's great to know that you can easily find it on eBay. You don't have to go through the same mistake I did!

  2. Hans Smitham 2024-11-27

This car may not have met my expectations, but it has provided me with valuable insights into what I need in a vehicle. Its initial design was appealing, but it did not hold up over time. Despite some mechanical issues, I am confident that I made the best decision I could with the information I had at the time. I encourage you to carefully consider your own needs and priorities before making a purchase.

  3. Berry Wyman 2024-02-08

Hey there! Have you ever experienced the thrill of riding a rear wheel drive car? This car may not be the most exciting, but it's definitely a solid performer and a rare find for an affordable big car.

Positive 2011 Ford Crown victoria car reviews

  1. Chadd Hartmann 2024-11-24

The Crown Victoria is such a great car! I've actually owned three of them now, and each one has been just as good as the last. They hardly ever break down, and all you really need to do is keep up with regular fluid changes. Plus, they're super comfortable to ride in - it's like driving around in a boat (in a good way!). And I've noticed that the handling has really improved over the past few years, which is great. Not to mention, this car has plenty of power!

  2. Enrique Keebler 2024-11-17

I've been driving my 2010 CVPI for over a year now and have put almost 10k miles on it. It's been a great experience so far! The car handles like a dream and I haven't had any major issues with it. The only minor problems I've encountered are a non-functional driver seat recline motor and a rear suspension squeak that I haven't been able to identify. While it's not the best in snow and rain, with a little bit of skill, it's still manageable. Overall, it's my favorite car that I've driven. If you're considering buying one, just make sure to check the transmission or be prepared for a rebuild. The intake manifold is known for cracking, but it's a fairly easy fix. Lastly, the blend door actuator is known for failing, but it's also easy to work on as long as you keep up with your maintenance.

  3. Soledad Muller 2024-10-19

I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your Crown Victoria! It can be tough to find one in your area, but it sounds like it was worth the effort. The rear wheel drive performance and comfortable ride really make it a great choice. And it's great to hear that everyone who rides in it finds a comfortable seating position. Thanks for the recommendation - I'll definitely have to give a Crown Victoria a try!

  4. Doris Labadie 2024-09-18

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with this amazing vehicle. In my opinion, it's the most dependable, well-made, and valuable car out there. I was lucky enough to purchase it from a local dealer for only 14,400, which is an incredible deal considering the original sticker price was 30k! I truly believe that there is no other car on the market that can offer what this one does for such a reasonable price. Unfortunately, I was recently in an accident where a drunk driver hit me while I was stopped at a corner. Thankfully, the car's driver's door took all of the impact and I wasn't injured. After just three weeks, a new door, and some paint, the car was back to me in perfect shape! It's such a quiet, comfortable, and fuel-efficient car (20mpg mixed cycle) that also happens to be incredibly safe. I really can't understand why Ford stopped making these. It's truly a great car!

  5. Edwin Quigley 2024-09-18

Handles very well, solid good running car. It has low mileage and has been well taken care of by the Orange County Sheriff's department. I am very happy with the car.
