2021 Dodge Challenger problems
The Dodge Challenger is the name of three different generations of automobiles produced by American automobile manufacturer Dodge. However, the first use of the Challenger name by Dodge was in 1959 for marketing a "value version" of the full-sized Coronet Silver Challenger.
From model years 1970 to 1974, the first generation Dodge Challenger pony car was built using the Chrysler E platform in hardtop and convertible body styles sharing major components with the Plymouth Barracuda.
The second generation, from model years 1978 to 1983, was a badge engineered Mitsubishi Galant Lambda / Sapporo, a coupe version of an economical compact car.
The third and current generation is a full-size muscle car that was introduced in early 2008 originally as a rival to the evolved fifth generation Ford Mustang and the fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro.
In November 2021, Stellantis announced that 2023 model year would be the final model year for both the LD Dodge Charger and LA Dodge Challenger, as the company will focus its future plans on electric vehicles rather than fossil fuel powered vehicles, due to tougher emissions standards required by the Environmental Protection Agency for the 2023 model year. Challenger production ended on December 22, 2023, and the Brampton, Ontario assembly plant will be re-tooled to assemble an electrified successor.

Common 2021 Dodge Challenger problems
The Dodge Challenger, a powerful muscle car, has some common problems that owners have reported, particularly in the 2021 model year. Delayed gear changes are the most widespread complaint, affecting many 2021 Challenger owners within the first 2,500 miles. This issue is often caused by the transmission control module's software, which can be updated for free at most dealerships, although some may charge around $100 for labor.
Another problem mentioned by some 2021 Challenger owners is weak airflow from the A/C system, which usually starts around 10,000 miles. The first step to address this issue is to check the cabin air filter to ensure it's not clogged. If the air filter is new, the blower motor may not be getting up to full speed, which would require replacement, costing around $450.
Noise from the suspension has also been reported by Challenger owners at roughly 10,000 miles. This issue is often due to some of the bushings in the front suspension wearing out easily, which costs around $450 to replace, depending on local labor rates.
There are two recalls on the 2021 Dodge Challenger. The most serious recall is for the instrument cluster, which may malfunction. Dodge will update the software on the instrument cluster on affected models for free. The other recall covers windshield bonding, which Dodge will also replace for free.
A well-maintained 2021 Dodge Challenger can last around 200,000 miles, although regular annual maintenance costs are more than some competitors, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $625 per year.
The standard entertainment technology in the 2021 Dodge Challenger is good, including a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Optional upgrades include a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen along with a premium stereo system. Standard safety technology is basic, with only a rearview camera. Optional driver assistance features include forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
The 2021 Dodge Challenger is a good value for a very strong sports coupe that also has a practical cabin, priced between $20,499 and $76,999. However, it's essential to be aware of these common problems and address them promptly to ensure the longevity and reliability of the vehicle.

SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-22
- VIN: 2C3CDZJG8MH
- Components: SEATS
- Summary: On [XXX] I was traveling s/b on [XXX] in Florida in my Dodge Challenger which I purchased from New Smyrna Dodge this year. I was traveling approx 65 mph and all of a sudden the back of my drivers seat went back all the way putting me in a flat position against the rear seat. I was lucky enough to pull myself up and keep control of the vehicle. The incident could have been a disaster because my father was also riding in the vehicle on the passenger side. I pulled over on the median and checked the drivers seat thinking maybe the manual recline had just slipped. In doing so I saw that the metal frame on the right side of the seat had snapped where it connects to bottom of seat frame. Obviously it is a defect in the metal because the frame was not damaged in any way and metal just to broke(Snapped). Had it happened in an accident the injury could have been severe. These seat are suppose meet certain standards. I responded to The dealer today and spoke to a service representative who did agree it was probably a defect because he never heard of that happening but also said unfortunately you are just over warranty by three thousand miles. Stated you can leave car but it will involve full days labor taking seat apart. Doesn't say much for dealer mechanics. Also said there was no recall on it but admitted when it happened could have been serious accident. He also made no attempt to even go out and look at it. If in fact this is a defect people's lives could be in danger. If I wasn't able to pull myself up immediately to a sitting position we probably would have had an accident. The actions of this dealer did not surprise me at all. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NONE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-07-27
- VIN: 2C3CDZBT3MH
- Components: NONE
- Summary: This may not be the correct place to report this but it is a serious problem. Since Google took over the Waze navigation app they have been relentless in popping up ads, useless information and so on. They are now asking if I am driving an electric car of all things.... all while I'm driving on the highway! This strong, relentless encouragement to get drivers to distract their attention from the responsibility of driving is a menace! These apps know when a vehicle is in motion and these marketing idiots should not be doing this. This is a Nationwide problem that NHTSA could put a stop to tomorrow should they decide to. And I very much hope you will. These distractions serve no useful purpose... it's just one more way to annoy people with unwanted advertisements and unhelpful "tips". Thank you for your attention to this very important issue

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to say that your 2021 Challenger in Hellraison color is absolutely stunning! It's no surprise that people are constantly complimenting the car, the color, and the looks. I love how it reminds them of hot wheel cars they had when they were kids. It's great to hear that people even strike up conversations about it! Your SXT with 6 cylinders and 305 horsepower sounds like the perfect fit for you, and I'm glad to hear that it's fast and has decent gas mileage. As someone who's 75 years old and 6'2', it's great to hear that you find the car comfortable for long drives. It's no wonder you've already put 41,000 miles on it! I think it's a fantastic idea to keep this Challenger, especially since they're not being built anymore. Thank you for sharing your experience with me!

So glad to hear that you're enjoying the Challenger! It sounds like you're a true Mopar family with the Jeep Cherokee 4x4, Dodge Charger, and 1971 Coronet in the garage with a 400. Thanks for sharing!

Great Vehicle!! Very Responsive All American Muscle!!

This car is a true gem! It drives just as advertised and has the classic look of a retro muscle car. I've driven it for over 130,000 miles and have only needed one repair. The Harmon Kardon sound system is a dream and really adds to the overall experience. The power of this car is impressive and it's definitely a vehicle to be respected. I love the sound, stance, and suspension. The interior has steadily improved over time and is quite nice. The Uconnect system works perfectly in my 21. The ride is pretty smooth for a muscle car and the included functions are awesome. I expect this car to last until my next one, haha! I highly recommend the Hellcat without hesitation, as well as my dealer and Dodge Parts for accessory additions. If you don't garage your car, consider adding an alarm and kill switch for added security. Overall, this car is my perfect drive!

There is a loud knocking noise and vibration when starting the car, which has been present since day 1 with only 5 miles on the car. I am taking it to the dealer for repair. It is clear that there is a problem with the car, which should not be the case for a new vehicle.

What a stunning and speedy car! When you step on the throttle, you'll feel the power pushing you back into your seat. The ride is incredibly smooth on the highway and the handling is surprisingly agile for a car of this size and weight. Although I purchased it brand new, I did notice some issues with the fit and finish. The gaps around the car were uneven and the transmission (8 speed automatic) was questionable. The shifts were really hard, especially from 1st to 2nd, which myself and my passengers noticed. Additionally, I noticed that the Challenger needed an alignment after only 2000 miles of driving on normal roads. Unfortunately, these issues, combined with the poor gas mileage and the fact that my second home was located far from the nearest gas station, led me to sell the Challenger after only 3 months of ownership. It's a shame because I really like Dodge vehicles, but I couldn't justify owning a car with these problems. Perhaps I'll consider another one in the future.

Amazing car! It drives fantastic, what's not to love? However, I was disappointed to discover how easy it is to steal. I don't understand why, with today's technology, they are still so vulnerable. I recently purchased a 2021 Challenger Scat Pack and had it for only 3 months before it was stolen in minutes by smashing the window. Overall, I still love the car, but I hope that manufacturers can improve their security measures in the future.
