The Chrysler PT Cruiser is a compact car that was built by the American company Chrysler from 2001 until 2010. Introduced as a five-door hatchback wagon, a two-door convertible variant was also made from 2005 until 2008.
Originally planned as a Plymouth model, the PT Cruiser was ultimately marketed as a Chrysler when Plymouth was discontinued. Intended to invoke 1930s aesthetics, the exterior of the PT Cruiser was designed by Bryan Nesbitt. The model received an intermediate facelift for the 2006 model year. Interior packaging was noted for its high roof, high h-point seating, and flexible cargo and passenger configurations enabled by a multi-level rear cargo shelf and rear seats a user could fold, tumble, or remove.
The PT Cruiser was produced in Mexico and Austria at the Toluca Car Assembly and Eurostar Automobilwerk factories. By the end of production in July 2010, worldwide production had reached 1.35 million.
In its nameplate, PT stands for "Personal Transport" or "Personal Transportation". PT was the PT Cruiser's product code for the Mexican-made units.

A YEAR LATER MY DAUGHTER MENTIONED THE CAR WAS DOING THIS AGAIN (COLD WEATHER HAD RETURNED). I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO KLABEN AND SAID I WAS COMPELLED TO CONTACT NHTSA AS IF I OR MY DAUGHTER HIT A PERSON BECAUSE OF NO BRAKE ASSIST WHATSOEVER, IT WOULD BE TRAGIC. IN MARCH OF 2015, KLABEN AGAIN REPLACED THE BOOSTER AND PCV FILTER, FREE, INFORMING ME THAT THERE WAS OIL IN THE BOOSTER. WHILE THIS SERVICE WAS APPRECIATED, WHEN MY DAUGHTER WAS HOME FROM COLLEGE RECENTLY (JAN. 2016), I STARTED HER CAR AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ROCK-HARD WHEN PUSHING IT TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF PARK. IT IMMEDIATELY HAD POWER ASSIST AFTER THAT, BUT THIS TELLS ME THE PROBLEM IS RETURNING. THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL LAST YEAR (AFTER OUR CAR'S LAST BOOSTER REPLACEMENT) ON 2013-14 DODGE DART MODELS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE REPAIR WAS IDENTICAL--REPLACE BOOSTER IF OIL IS FOUND IN THERE. I BELIEVE OTHER CHRYSLER MODELS BESIDES THE DART ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE, AS OUR CAR HAS. THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED AND HOPEFULLY A PERMANENT FIX FOUND. I BELIEVE OUR CAR'S COLD-WEATHER BRAKING WILL CONTINUE TO DETERIORATE AND I DON'T WANT THIS PROBLEM TO REAR ITS UGLY HEAD IN THE NEXT WINTER.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.

I rented a convertible twice, covering a total of 2k miles, and it was the most enjoyable car I've ever driven. When I learned that it was going to be discontinued, I ordered one from the factory. While it feels a bit top-heavy on sharp turns, it is an absolute king of flat-out cruising. The standard engine is adequate, but the turbo is thrilling. The stereo upgrade is worth every penny and is easily the best audio I've ever heard in any vehicle. The front seats are comfortable, especially with leather and seat heaters. However, the back seats are cambered just a bit too far back. There is tons and tons of headroom, and the engine is extremely easy to check the oil on. Overall, it was a very fun experience.

I confidently ordered a 2008 PT Conv. with a 5-speed transmission for my wife to replace her tiny Hyundai Accent. Our goal was to find a fun car, and we were not disappointed. Despite it being December and living in the North, the car handles exceptionally well on the snow. The gears are more closely spaced than her Hyundai, and the shifter has a better action. The car handles great, even though it is a little heavy, and we enjoy pushing it to its limits. Although the fuel economy could be better, we are currently getting about 26 mpg, which should improve after the break-in period and warmer weather. We are particularly impressed with the insulated top, which is quieter and warmer than the Hyundai. The YES essentials seats are also fantastic, as coffee doesn't soak in!

I've only owned this car for 2 days and it has been absolutely incredible! Everyone who sees it goes WOW!!! The surf blue color is a real eye-catcher. Despite being a large person, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this convertible is so roomy and comfortable. At 350 lbs., most cars are not suitable for me, but this one is perfect! Of course, all good things in Detroit eventually get discontinued. I had to really search to find one, but so far it has been well worth it!

My wife's old Jag recently stopped working and we decided to replace it with an SUV/CUV. We came across this PT online with only 16K miles for $10.6K. It's the Touring model, which includes a nicer interior and more standard content, including some lovely alloys. While it may not be the fastest car out there and the gas mileage could be better, my wife is happy with it and it has proven to be reliable so far. As they say, happy wife, happy life!

I completely understand that the concept of value can vary from person to person. However, I must say that the space utility, design, quality of vehicle, and comfort of the PT Cruiser are unparalleled for the money. Personally, I bought a slightly used one (with only 1800 miles on it in the same model year) and it has become my daily driver as well as my go-to vehicle for many of my family's long trips. It handles both interstate and in-town driving with ease. The seats fit me well, although they may be smaller than some, and there is plenty of leg and head room for my 6'2

I had a brand new 2002 PT Cruiser which I absolutely loved. I had it for 7 years and only experienced two minor issues which were resolved quickly. However, I recently purchased a new 2008 turbo and unfortunately it has been to the dealership about 12 times. Despite their efforts, they have been unable to identify any issues and have deemed everything to be normal. The gas mileage is poor, the tire light is on, there are rattling noises and squeaks, and the power seat handle has even broken off. Needless to say, I am quite upset with my current PT Cruiser and would love to have my 2002 model back. I am left wondering what could be causing these issues and why the dealership has been unable to resolve them.

I would strongly advise against purchasing this car. Unfortunately, my wife had a scary experience while driving it on the freeway when it suddenly stalled and she was hit from behind. It was a very dangerous situation. In my opinion, this car is not safe to drive and I would not recommend it to anyone. Please be careful and consider other options.

The W.P. Chrysler Special Edition has a slightly smaller interior compared to the 2002 model. However, the dealership replaced the water pump and transmission solenoid block (machined casting) under warranty at no charge, which was a great relief. While the 4 cylinder engine may not offer the best performance, it still gets the job done. It's worth noting that the car's turning radius is not as tight as that of an extended-cab pickup truck. Overall, the W.P. Chrysler Special Edition is a decent car that can meet your needs.
