Common 2019 Chrysler Pacifica problems
Based on the complaints from owners of the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica, several common problems have been reported:
- Engine Issues: Owners have raised complaints about random engine stalls and the inability to restart the engine after a stall. This problem was attributed to a faulty battery ground connection and voltage regulator chip, leading to two separate recalls to address these issues.
- Transmission Problems: Common transmission issues include the inability to shift to drive mode from park, lurching when applying brakes, low-speed jerking, and failure to upshift. Some owners also experienced stalling when coming to a halt in drive mode.
- Service Brakes: Several owners reported a loss of braking force when depressing the brake pedals. Brake shudder and hissing noise were also prominent complaints, with rusted brake discs and faulty pads being identified as causes.
- Electric System Complaints: Issues with the infotainment system were prevalent, with the radio getting stuck on the backup camera view, causing driver distraction. Various electrical problems like random cabin equipment power loss, premature battery failure, and key-fob issues were also reported.
- Structural Complaints: Problems with the sliding door closing or opening unintendedly due to door lock sensor issues were highlighted. Additionally, steering issues such as hard pulling to one side and oscillation during heavy braking or acceleration were reported.
- Safety Concerns: Complaints included second-row seat belts detaching from their mounting points, posing a safety risk. Despite recalls for previous model years, the 2019 model year owners did not receive updates on this issue.
These problems indicate a range of issues affecting the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica, from engine and transmission malfunctions to safety concerns and structural issues. Owners have faced challenges with various components of the vehicle, prompting recalls and highlighting areas that require attention for improved reliability and safety.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-01
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG8KR
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: The power brake booster was failing and causing the vehicle to not stop as expected. When it was brought to an auto mechanic a few weeks after noticing the issue, they described it as appearing defective beyond normal wear-and-tear and reminiscent of a recall for earlier year models of Chrysler Pacificas. The issue caused the vehicle to not respond to the pushing of the brakes and required a pumping of the brakes until the vehicle stopped. Occasionally, when the brakes were depressed and the car was at rest, the vehicle would start moving and the brake pedal would push strongly against being depressed. There were no warning lamps or messages associated with this issue; the issue was discovered simply by noticing that the brakes were not working as they should.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-17
- VIN: 2C4RC1FG0KR
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: There is a slight scrubbing noise when I turn the steering wheel in either direction. When I turn the wheel to the right there is a 'catch' of some sort and I have to put a little force in getting it centered again. I am scared honestly is gonna stay right and I am gonna run into something. I went to the auto parts store to see about power steering fluid only to find out my vehicle doesn't have that and its all electrical. I checked for recalls to see if this is an issue happening with my vehicle and saw none but did see that I am apparently not the only person to have reported such an issue. I am very, very concerned. This has been happening now for about a month.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-13
- VIN: 2C4RC1GG7KR
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION
- Summary: Radio Uconnect resets every 3 to 5 minutes. When this happens screen goes black. If backing no warning on what is behind you. GPS is resetting with wrong location. Wireless calls stop. This has been a problem across all FCA brands and an issue since 2017. I had 2018 Pacifica with same issues. I believe there are two class action lawsuits over this problem. I had to pay $650 to replace radio. No help from Chrysler customer cares NO HELP.
STEERING PROBLEM

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-30
- VIN: 2C4RC1EG0KR
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: Brake Booster has failed. There was previously an extended warranty published for this same issue on November 11, 2023 (No D-22-15) for XA7 Brake Booster, however that expires after 5 years after the vehicle was placed in service or 150,000 miles (whichever is sooner). The Brake Booster failure on our vehicle happened just a few short months after this "expiration date" of the extended warranty. Also, the date of the extended warranty was issued was November 2023. This left only 5 months from the issuance of the letter to the expiration of the warranty, which does not seem to be a reasonable amount of time. Our vehicle is not safe to drive as the brakes are not functioning properly which could result in serious and fatal injury's to the occupants or other vehicles on the roadway. Additionally repair parts are not available to purchase and are on a "National back order". Attention needs to be given to this topic as there are many vehicles on the road that are not safe because of this lack of quality.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-24
- VIN: 2C4RC1N70KR
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: On [XXX] around 12:00 PM, while traveling northbound in the HOV lane at 70 MPH on [XXX] near [XXX] , with two small children in the passenger row and two adults in the front, the following error suddenly appeared on the dashboard: "Stop Safely -- Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon." Power to the engine stopped as a result and the car coasted. A "red turtle" warning and a "Check Engine" error also displayed. No other errors, unfamiliar sounds, or mechanical noises preceded these errors, nor had there been any other recent problems with the car. We pulled over to the shoulder immediately and turned the car off for approximately 5 minutes to see whether the errors would persist. With the "Stop Safely" error no longer on the dashboard, we turned the car on again and drove it to the dealership. On that drive, the previous errors appeared a second time. The dealership, Carl Burger Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM World (La Mesa CA), has confirmed that the transmission needs to be replaced and that it is unsafe to drive the vehicle until the transmission is replaced. On August 30, 2024, the dealership said that they are waiting for Stellantis to release the transmission and "that won't happen any time soon." As of today, September 2, 2024, Carl Burger has failed to provide a timeline for the replacement and have informed us that we must deal with Stellantis in order to get the case escalated and the car repaired. They have also refused to offer us a replacement/loaner vehicle while ours is in the shop. ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-28
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG6KR
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: I am the mechanic that was hard to work on this vehicle and I am feeling this out for the customer but I am submitting it in my name . Vehicle has code p105c and p0303. The first code is pending permanent and stored, it is saying the intake valve is stuck in a low lift position. The second code is for cylinder 3 misfire. We had the coils switched over from cylinder 3 to cylinder 5 and made sure that the wiring was not damaged and the same code keeps coming back for that cylinder as well as the p105c. It causes the vehicle to start shaking while going down the road almost causing an accident. There is a recall on the 2020 Pacifica having the same code but there isn't a recall on the 2019 which has the same engine.
POWER TRAIN,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-10
- VIN: 2C4RC1FG8KR

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-23
- VIN: 2C4RC1GG1KR
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: The vehicle's brake booster is going out. The vehicle's warranty was already extended once but is now out of that 5-year timeframe. This issue began about 2 weeks ago. Now, the brake pushes back and doesn't want to engage which poses the risk of rear-ending someone. Chrysler is aware of this situation and refuses to extend or fix the issue.
POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-17
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG6KR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Car seems to slip out of drive. In the Dashboard the D will start blinking and I can no longer accelerate. The message says to shift to park and back to drive. If this happens on time, I can start going again. If I can't get it to register that I've shifted, I will not be able to accelerate and I need to pull off the road. Once I come to about 1 or 2 MPH, the shifter knob will turn itself to park and the car will slam the parking break on. I get the message to press then engine button, turn the parking break back off and turn the knob to drive.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-13
- VIN: 2C4RC1GG8KR
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: When at a stopped position, the brake pedal gets stiff and starts pushing back … and then the car starts creeping forward. I’ve almost hit countless cars in drive-through, and my car tries to creep through red lights. It’s also very hard to brake. I went to one shop and they said it was the brake booster and vacuum hose , and that a lot of people were complaining about this issue in the Pacifica’s. I took the car to a Chrysler dealership to get it repaired and they said the brake booster is on back order because it’s a common problem. The only way to get the car to stop from rolling when you’ve got the brake on is to slam down on the brake (then it’s a crazy crunching sound) or to throw it into park before it gets you into traffic. It’s scary and it’s not safe.
POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-01-01
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG6KR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES
- Summary: The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that the START/STOP sensor light was continually illuminated. While at a red traffic light, the vehicle independently shifted to park(P) and shut off. The vehicle was restarted and placed in drive(D). The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the START/STOP battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the hood latch and the START/STOP battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-25
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG3KR
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: My breaks stopped worked due to a failed brake booster. I would compress the brake and it would let out air and not adequately stop. When it did finally stop, it would propel me forward. This became very dangerous for my family and I

- Summary: My brake boosters failed causing me to not be able to stop adequately. The brakes would not fully compress.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-05
- VIN: 2C4RC1FG1KR
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Around 79,000 miles, my 2019 Pacifica experienced check engine error codes. Upon diagnostics by a repair shop, found that the engine coolant was leaking into the engine due to a bad head gasket and that the engine cylinders were damaged and the only repair is a full engine replacement. The car has been maintained and received regular oil changes and should not fail in this manner at less than 80,000 miles. Reading through various forums I see this is a known issue with the 2017+ model year Pacificas
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-01
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG5KR
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: The following message displays on the vehicle: “Stop Safely. Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon.” Upon receiving the message, the vehicle will stall. This has occurred multiple times while driving on the freeway at 70 mph, while driving on city streets, etc. Every time the vehicle stalls, it is INCREDIBLY dangerous. There is not always time to pull over to a safe location as the vehicle simply freezes up and won't move. This is a van which means that there could often be children in the vehicle. It is a danger to ourselves and to other vehicles around us. We were first told that this was an issue with wiring in the battery. The second time we took it in, we were told that it was because the auxiliary battery needed to be replaced. Now, we're told that we need to replace the generator. Please note that the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica has known electronic issues with the vehicle stalling. The vehicle is at a Chrysler Dealership for the third time this month for diagnostic evaluation and repairs. The error message has been confirmed by the dealership.
POWER TRAIN,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-28
- VIN: 2C4RC1N76KR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
- Summary: Check engine light cam on then a message "Stop safely Vehicle will shut off soon" This is related to recall 23V-010
POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-26
- VIN: 2C4RC1L71KR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: My 2019 Pacifica Hybrid started showing a message around 07/19 “Service Charing Station” followed by Service Park brakes, Service Parking system and was not able to start or control anything in the car. After 15 to 30 minutes it started working and no errors. On Friday, 07/26, car stopped all of a sudden (luckily my family was in the parking lot) and showed a different message “Stop Safely. Vehicle will stop soon” message and after that it went completely dead. This is a concern that the vehicle would stop when driving and making the vehicle not responding to anything. You cannot control (brakes, driving modes, light) anything and when AAA jump started the car was in “Running” mode and asking to power on the vehicle.

The front row driver and navigator are unable to listen to a CD or watch a DVD, even when the car is parked. However, they can easily access these features from the second row. It may sound a bit unusual, but that's how this minivan was designed. Additionally, the minivan will automatically shut off while you are at a red light with your foot on the brake, but it will not do so when you are in the park position with the motor running. It's a bit of an odd feature, but it's just the way it is.

UPDATE: Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with the Chrysler Pacifica. After owning it for 3 years, I still highly recommend it. I've even considered upgrading to a newer model, but I haven't found the perfect color and options combination yet. When you're considering buying a car, make sure to do your research and determine if the size and storage meet your needs. It's important not to buy more options than you actually need or want. For me, the adaptive cruise control, stow away seating, a color other than black or another dark color on the exterior or interior, and ample storage were at the top of my list. The 'would be nice' list included various power options and techie type 'toys'. I found that the Pacifica met all of my needs perfectly. Thanks for reading!
-
You can easily take your aging parents with you or use the stow and go feature to pick up vintage treasures. The vehicle also provides a smooth ride and has ample power.
-
You'll love how versatile, comfortable, and efficient it is!

I bought my Touring L new and have driven it for four years now. I don't have one complaint. The bells and whistles I got for the money are unbeatable. I did have some corrosion occur on the front tip of the hood, but the hood was then replaced under warranty. This vehicle is really fun to drive and makes traveling with kids so much easier.

I had a lot of problems with my minivan. It wouldn't start more than six times, which was really inconvenient, especially with seven small kids. When I called Chrysler, they told me to contact Chrysler Care Service, but they couldn't schedule an appointment for me for three to four weeks. I was really frustrated and told them to take back the broken minivan, but they didn't want to help me. One day, the minivan stopped completely dead on the street, so I called Chrysler Roadside Assistance and they took it to Ramsey Chrysler for service. Unfortunately, I had to wait for more than a week without a car, and they didn't provide me with a rental or any money for one. When they called me to say that my grill was broken, I was really upset because it wasn't broken when I had the minivan. They broke it. When I picked up the minivan, there was a new problem, and it was a safety issue. The minivan stopped more than four times in the middle of the road or highway, and it was really dangerous. I had an emergency and needed to go with my wife to the birth of our new baby, but in the middle of the highway, we had a flat tire. The reason was that Ramsey Chrysler had put too much air in the tires. I called Roadside Assistance again, and they took me back to Ramsey Chrysler, but they didn't want to fix my tire without charging me an additional $350, even though they were the ones who overinflated my tires to 38 psi. It was a safety issue, so I decided to lease a new minivan from Toyota, and it's working great. Thank God!

We purchased the Touring L Plus at the end of 2019 and have driven approximately 15000 miles in it. The sound system is fantastic and there is ample room for the whole family. The leather seats are comfortable and have warmers, which is a nice touch. The LED display is also very sharp. However, we have experienced some issues with the electrical systems in the van. The horn has been intermittently going in and out, and we have been unable to resolve a warning light that says 'Wash under vehicle sliding doors unavailable', despite taking it to the manufacturer for repair. Unfortunately, we have found that the service providers for Chrysler are not up to the same standard as those for Toyota or Honda. During a routine PM, we even found oil all over the van. Additionally, the transmission can be rough at lower speeds. All things considered, we would not recommend purchasing this van, new or used. If you are trying to decide, we believe that the Sienna is a much better option.

We had some trouble with shifting after 60k miles and, to make a long story short, we ended up needing to replace the transmission. If you're looking for a reliable vehicle, this may not be the best option for you. However, if you're looking for an affordable van, this could be a good choice for you.

I recently brought home my new 2019 Touring L Plus from the dealer and attempted to install car seats in the second row captain's chairs. Unfortunately, the headrests caused the car seats to be pushed forward, preventing them from fitting flush in the seat. After contacting the dealer, they suggested that I may be doing something wrong or that I should consider purchasing new car seats. As someone who has never owned a minivan before and has always had SUVs, this has been a bit of a disappointment. Not only due to the problem itself, but also with the response I received from Chrysler. I would greatly appreciate any advice or assistance in resolving this issue. Thank you for your help.

We have experienced a surge in acceleration twice now. The first time, we mistook it for human error, which we later found out was not the case. Last week, while I was pulling into a parking space and had already stopped, the accelerator suddenly gunned and caused me to crash into a building. Fortunately, I was not injured, but had there been anyone on the sidewalk, it could have been fatal. This is the second time this has happened, and it was not due to human error. The car accelerated so quickly that the wall of the building was moved a couple of inches, and the tires continued to spin after the crash, leaving black marks on the sidewalk.
