- VIN: 2C4RC1N70JR
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The unresolved recall with no remedy stems from an earlier recall is entering its fourth month with no further communications from the manufacturer about the status of the remedy. There has been no compensation provided to car owners with increased carrying costs due to the manufacturing failures, decreased car valuation due to repeated failed attempts to remedy the same recall, nor indirect costs of extended stress and fear. I am unable to park my car by my house due to the fire risk, which has required me to buy monthly parking passes. I am unable to charge my car, which has caused increased gas costs. I previously paid to install a level 2 charger in my home, which I am unable to use. Additionally a concerning electrical noise has started to occur when starting the car or long after turning the car off. I am continually anxious about driving this car with my children, but I have no other choice to continually put all of us at risk. - Summary: Chrysler has still not offered a remedy for this recall .the vehicle was purchased used and selling dealer did not provide recall info until the sale had been completed. I love the vehicle except the possible fire hazard in the recall makes me nervous to drive it . Chrysler told me earlier recalls were for this hazard but now says remedy is incomplete!!
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-10
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG4JR
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Misfire code on cylinder 1. Pulled the coil and plug and replaced, cleared code. Code returns in a matter of days. Then engine temp hot flashes during a short drive, so I purchase approved OAT coolant and fill it back up. Happens again three weeks later. Then two weeks later. Have local mechanic replace coolant pump and thermostat thinking that might do the trick. It doesn't. Issues return in a week. Mechanic can find no coolant leak and says the only thing that makes sense is a blown head gasket. I browse Chrysler forums and see that this is a common issue. No recall as of yet.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-08
- VIN: 2C4RC1FG3JR
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: I left work one day and I stopped at Walmart once I was done there, I got into my car to leave when I attempted to start my car all of the dash board lights illuminated although my car turned over it would not engage into gear. I did notice that all the dashboard lights illuminated simultaneously, which was quite alarming. This happened not once, but twice both times when I went to start the car however the second time I immediately drove it to the dealer for service. This left me concerned about what might be causing the issue. Only for the dealer to tell me it is my transmission and it would cost me $10,000.00 to fix it as a blue collar worker I have absolutely know idea what I am going to do. I then began to research the car only to find out that this year, make & model has a recall on the transmission describing the exact symptoms I am having. Please help!!!!!! my lively hood depends on me being able to get to work!
STEERING,WHEELS,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-05
- VIN: 2C4RC1GG3JR
- Components: STEERING,WHEELS,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: While I was driving the right control arm seperated from the car. I was fortunate that I wasn't on the highway, also that I did not cause a collision with another car/person. With no warning the car felt as if it dropped on to the ground. Soon after I received an error message saying to service the brakes which i assume was also damaged when the control arm fell... I had to have the car towed to a repair shop and received a list of repairs. The car is avaliable for inspection. I had no clue how something like that could even happen. Ive been trying to find answers when i saw a recall on another car by the same maker that perfectly summed up what happened to me. Chrysler's number for this recall is V15.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-10
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG7JR
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: In April of 2022 my dash engine check light went on, as well as my start stop. Van was running rough and coolant missing. Chrysler fixed seals, gaskets. In July of 2024, 3000 before warranty ended, the same thing, Chrysler fixed. As of today October 10, 2024, the same dash lights and coolant missing. Now I am over 100,000 warranty. they just fixed this issue. Looking at Technical Service Bulletins and thousands of Chrysler forum complaints report the same issue. Despite two warranty fixes almost 10,00 in 15 months, the same issue continues. In 2024 this past fix Chrysler said this on the phone, Failed leak and combustion test. Cylinder head gasket has gone. Cylinder itself. Cylinder one. Misfire but not as bad. Checking the cylinder wall. Seems odd. Really inspecting the cylinder wall. Odd it would come back odd a year later. Not sure what he is going to find. They can do it tomorrow unless more. When my husband called today all they said was payment is on us of it is not the same thing but did not day to was we did this 3 months ago. I took my van to auto zone after same dash lights went on and they read the code, misfire cylinder one
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-10-02
- VIN: 2C4RC1EG6JR
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Touring L+ with 59,300 miles on it that we bought new from the dealer with a blown head gasket needing replacement of cylinders 3 and 4. We are outside the powertrain warranty. We got a check engine light [XXX] and found code p-0303 (cylinder 3 misfire). We were fortunate enough to get it to the dealer the very next day. It failed the engine block test and we were informed that the head gasket had blown and needed replacement. They also recommended replacing cylinders 3 and 4. This cannot be the expected lifespan of this engine or car. Searching forums on the internet and unfortunately it is a common problem with pacifica's and other vehicles with the pentastar 3.6L engine. We are averaging <10,000 miles per year, did not drive it aggressively, and got regular maintenance on it. This seems like obvious premature failure of the engine. Chrysler wanted $8200 for the parts and labor to fix it. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- VIN: 2C4RC1CG0JR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
- Summary: I have a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica with 50k miles and it is still covered under the powertrain warranty. 1. I had a check engine light with code as "misfire on cylinder 6" in August of 2024. I had all spark plugs and engine coils replaced. 2. I drove the vehicle for one week before the engine light came back on with the same code, and then the vehicle wouldn't start. It was towed to a dealer. 3. A dealer replaced the starter assembly and valve body. 4. I drove the vehicle for 2 days before the engine light came back on with code as misfire to a different cylinder. 5. I am now being told by the dealer that I need to replace both cylinder heads, both cylinder head gaskets, timing cover gaskets, valve cover gaskets, valve cover gaskets and the coil boots (again) because they were ruined the the failure/leaks in the other parts.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-13
- VIN: 2C4RC1FG3JR
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the power steering and braking functionality were inoperable. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the batteries and the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V348000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 104,417.
POWER TRAIN,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-03
- VIN: 2C4RC1EG1JR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
- Summary: The check engine light recently came on, and there was an issue with starting and idling, so we replaced the battery and the light went off, but would randomly come back on. One day notice the vehicle as overheating, and found the coolant tank to be completely empty. Refilled the tank, and several days later the problem arose again. Checked under the van immediately after refilling, no leaks detected. Took van to the dealership and was told the head gasket was bad, and the coolant was leaking into cylinder 3. Recommended repairs noted are as follows: “HEAD GASKET IS BAD. LEAKING ON CYLINDER 3. NEEDS A NEW HEAD AND GASKET TO FIX ISSUE. WILL ALSO NEED CAMS, LIFTERS, AND ROCKERS DUE TO THE TICKING COMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE MOTOR” I’ve seen that apparently, this is a more than common issue specifically with the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. Others have recommended a total engine replacement, as the damage caused thus far is significant enough that replacing only the head and gasket would be, as quoted, “a very expensive bandaid.” This is the only vehicle we have available for my wife and four small kids, and to see that it’s such a common and, thus far ignored problem is infuriating to say the least. Vehicle was purchased 2 years ago, and has depreciated $21,000 in that short amount of time. Repairs are estimated around $6000. Vehicle value is estimated around negative $12,000, so we’re stuck with a faulty vehicle regardless. With the overwhelming number of complaints regarding this issue, almost verbatim, there is absolutely no reason Chrysler should continue to be allowed to let this go unresolved. The fact that the vehicle depreciated so rapidly in such a short time span should be a testament in and of itself to the known and perceived quality of these vehicles, and if ever I can be rid of it, it’ll be that last Chrysler product I ever own.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-26
- VIN: 2C4RC1GG4JR
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: 76,115 and my head gasket is blown. After researching, I found that there are more than over 1000 people with the same issue. Dealership says they can do nothing. Chrysler of America says they have no resolution either. This is ridiculous that so many people are having the issues with low miles on their vans. Something has to be done. I'm not sure why there is not a recall already (because Chrysler won't accept the fact that they messed up). People don't have money to replace the head gaskets and/or replace heads or even engines. Please help.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-24
- VIN: 2C4RC1FG5JR
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: The vehicle has stalled several times while driving and while at a stop light leaving the van completely disabled and it will not turn on or start again. My wife and 2 year old were put at risk when the vehicle stalled on them at a major intersection and my wife was unable to put the vehicle into parking or drive since there was no power after it stalled and dashboard lights flicked on and off multiple times.. Stall has also happened at drive thru almost causing collision with vehicle in front. The stall produces dashboard error messages reporting an internal transmission malfunction, auto start/stop error, and or a problem charging the battery. Certified ASE mechanics can’t reproduce the issue or find anything to pin point the issue after multiple diagnostic tests ran and physical thorough inspection. Every time a stall happens loads of error codes (85+) pull up but none point to the root cause of stalling happening. Vehicle has most up to date software update done over a year ago.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-09-26
- VIN: 2C4RC1N75JR
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: My vehicle was performing great - no Issues what so ever until FCA performed Recall 03A. After I had FCA US LLC Recall 03A for Loss of Motive Power installed; my vehicle had several issues the same day I picked it up from the Dealer. They stated it was ready for pickup even with all my issues and they new I had ½ of them and still turned it over to me. . 50 % of the issues are still waiting to be repaired. The Major issue remaining is the High Voltage Battery. After 1 year of them trying to get the vehicle back to the condition I turned it in before for the Recall - Chrysler refuses to replace the HV battery under the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty. They will not let anyone order the part even the dealer can not. To order the bad part Chrysler STAR (FCAs part replacement approval authority) has to Approve it. They say they won't replace it due to normal degradation. I was getting 30 miles per full charge and after the Recall I was only getting18-20 Miles per full charge. That is Not normal degradation. Now I only get 17-18 miles per charge. They Degraded my battery with their Recall. The battery degraded by 33% in 2 weeks – that is Not normal their Recall caused it. I feel someone needs to enforce them to put my vehicle back the the same as I turned it over to them September 26, 2023 at their Expense no matter what it takes. The following is the list of issues in the past year because of Recall 03A. Basically my vehicle was in the shop for repairs Almost the Entire year! 1. Engine Lite is on all the time since Recall. 2. Charging System Errors. 3. Gear Selector does not work intermittently making undrivable. 4. Side doors and lift gate do not open or close automatically. 5. Radio Display keeps flashing intermittently 6. Back Up Camera flash on and off. 7. Every lite on the dash lights up - Giving my vehicle Multiple CANBUS Errors shorting out every computer system in the vehicle 20+ computers.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-01-15
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG8JR
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, the steering wheel seized and was unable to be turned. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the steering failure message was displayed, and the power steering function was not available. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 74,780.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-11
- VIN: 2C4RC1FG7JR
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: At just over 100K miles, vehicle had check engine light come on (P303) indicating cylinder #3 mis-fire. After replacing spark plugs did not resolve the issue, further diagnosis from mechanic revealed leaking of coolant into cylinder #3 as the cause of the miss-fire. This is further borne out by the rough starts when cold followed by more smooth operation once the coolant is burned off. Research on-line shows that this failure is common in Chrysler Pacifica rather than a one-off incident. Leaking of coolant into the engine not only puts the engine (and therefore vehicle occupants) at risk but also damages the catalytic converter which can have an impact on the environment.
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-12
- VIN: 2C4RC1GG4JR
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: Cylinder head gasket failure: known to be a common failure in the Pentastar 3.6L engine. Repair in thousands, and may not be a solution as the engine block may warp due to failure preventing a proper seal with the cylinder head. The number of cases of this failure is alarming and should really be considered a proper consumer risk.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-06
- VIN: 2C4RC1GG5JR
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE
- Summary: Purchased vehicle used and have put on miles. But since day 1 issues have been arising. First the Auto stop/start function stopped, 2 years later still unable to find the fix. More recent the gear shift just doesn’t work/turn on randomly or turns off while driving which is a safety concern. Now for the past 2 months the gear shift will not work or while driving the vehicle just loses acceleration and braking and slows to a stall and I can’t do anything until the gear shift turns back. I had 3 children on [XXX] when this started putting all our lives in danger. We were stuck for 2 hours the vehicle ran but was not drivable. Every mechanic says something different and it is a luck of the draw if the vehicle will work when you try it. Batteries all tested good. No obvious other issues other than loss of power steering for a short time. All warning lights flashing on and off randomly but it coincides with the loss of driving capabilities. I just want to be done with this vehicle it’s dangerous and now I’m stuck with it. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-05
- VIN: 2C4RC1N77JR
- Components: SEATS
- Summary: The back of the second row bucket bucket will no longer latch in place, and free floats forwards and backwards, the bottom latch of the seat is also not longer catching and holding the seat in one place and moves all the way forwards in backwards. This is the second time this has happen, with a car seat installed. This caused the car seat to be the at the incorrect angle for the age, height and weight of my child. The latch mechanism that holds the seat back in a fixed position, and the seat in a fixed location both failed. In the event of a crash the seat back would swing forward causing the passenger in that seat to be hunched forward, along with the passenger to be pushed into the front passenger seat. The dealership repaired this same issue several years ago and it has since happened again. We took the car to the dealership today but they were not able to take in for a repair. There were no warning for this defect, just looking back and seeing that the car seat was no longer at the correct angle, and when removing my child from the car feeling the seat back, and seat base free moving in my hand.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2019-06-07
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG5JR
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: Sometimes when I am accelerating it feels like I am being rear-ended. The whole vehicle jumps as if it is being pushed. I have tried to reset the Transmission by watching YouTube videos that show the same problem. But it has not fixed it. It also happens when I am driving. I am worried that it may not shift gears at all. I use it for all my long distance trips and do not want to break down on Interstate 95 in the dark. I have had it back to Auto Lenders in EHT, NJ multiple times from 2019- 2021. I gave up bringing it back because it never got fixed. Now it is happening almost every week.
POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-09-01
- VIN: 2C4RC1BG6JR
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: 2018 Pacifica with multiple similar issues. August 2018 - Recall - Reprogram Powertrain Control module May 1019 - Recall fixes (Power steering and ball joint). July 2021 - start/stop light came on - took to dealership and they replaced the battery for that system. Feb 2022 - Recall customer satisfaction notification 1 Y65 July 2022 - ISSUES begin - Cylinder misfire - and car would not start and was smoking. Van was towed to dealership. The dealership had the van for 2 months and had a difficult time really diagnosing the issue. They ended up replacing the right Cylinder head - which is a major part of the engine. Just being over the 60,000 mile mark, we had to fight with Chrysler to honor the warranty on this very expensive fix. Spark plugs were also changed at that time. August 2024 - check engine light is back on, as well as the automatic start/stop button. We took to Auto zone and the diagnosis was Cylinder 6 misfire. All along we have felt there should have been a recall on this van. Is it an electrical issue that is failing? Searching online there are a lot of these complaints about Cylinder misfiring issues with this year/model. It also looks like there may have been a class action lawsuit as well. A 4 year old van should not need a major engine repair. Now here we are 2 years later with a 6 year old van and having a similar issue. We are worried it is going to be another costly fix. We have had nothing but issues with this van and it is unacceptable, especially regarding a brand new car. We have all our receipts indicating appropriate and timely oil changes and transmission flushes, etc from the dealer.

- Consequence: If the axle shaft disengages from the CV joint, the vehicle will have a loss of drive or allow the vehicle to move while in the "Park" position. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash.

These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
- Consequence: If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Get the advanced safety tech package. The versatility of the folding seats lets you use this van in so many ways. It's like having a truck, a van, and a car all in one. You will love it. I certainly do!

I've been driving this van for over three years and have put 75,000 miles on it with almost no service problems. I found the stow & Go feature to be extremely useful and all the safety features work great. I love the headlight auto-dimmer, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, Apple Play, and many other features. The 3.6 engine still runs great and the van handles fantastic. I highly recommend this mini-van, especially if you're looking for the stow & Go seats. The car battery and tires had to be replaced at just over 60,000 miles, but overall, the van has been excellent. When it's time to replace this van, I'll definitely consider the Pacifica hybrid or the AWD version.

I am absolutely in love with my Chrysler Pacifica Limited and all of its luxurious advanced features. The backup split screen with warning beeps makes getting in and out of tight spots a breeze. The entertainment system and games keep the kids entertained, and we can even plug in our ROKU for long trips (with the option of paying a $20 fee for unlimited car wifi through AT&T). The safety features are exceptional, and I appreciate how the battery turns off to recharge at stops. The ability to open and close all the doors is a fantastic feature. However, there have been a few minor issues. Firstly, the ability to open the sliding doors and trunk by waving my foot has not worked consistently, despite taking the car in for repairs multiple times. Secondly, two of the 3rd row seatbelts have inexplicably torn, which could be due to the automatic stow feature slicing the seat belt. Thirdly, the car has had five recalls, which can be inconvenient to get repaired. Lastly, the speed warning feature can be annoying, as it warns me unnecessarily when the car thinks the speed limit is lower than it actually is. Despite these minor issues, we still love the car and would purchase it again, although we would consider buying a used one to avoid dealing with recalls and save time and money. It is worth noting that right after the 36-month warranty expired, the transmission started slipping at very low speeds (between 1st and 2nd gear), which was initially alarming, but we have since figured out how to manage it.The problem persists and occurs at least once a week, despite my attempts to replicate it at the dealer. It is a frustrating issue that requires immediate attention.

The Chrysler Pacifica van has excellent ride comfort, and acceleration. Even after two years, the van still runs like new.

The stow n go seats are fantastic and incredibly easy to use. When all the seats are down, you can fit a twin size mattress in the back, making it possible to sleep in the car very comfortably during road trips.

I recently purchased a brand new 2018 Chrysler Pacifica S with only 3 miles on it. Unfortunately, I have experienced several issues with the vehicle, including computer glitches and power steering problems. After having it towed to Chrysler Stafford in Winchester, I was provided with a Jeep Cherokee as a loaner vehicle, which was not ideal for my family's needs. Although I am disappointed with my purchase and the issues I have encountered, I believe that Chrysler can improve their product and customer service. In the future, I may consider other brands such as Toyota or Honda, but I remain hopeful that Chrysler will address these issues and improve their vehicles.

I was initially enamoured with this product, but unfortunately it has let me down. Despite bringing it in for repairs multiple times, the issue cannot seem to be 'verified' or 'duplicated'. The vehicle stalls after starting and then cranks when trying to restart. Additionally, the key fob won't unlock the door when I'm standing by it and holding the handle. The DVD player randomly goes black and I can't control it on the front monitor because it gets locked out. There is also a burnt odor at times from the heated steering wheel or driver seat. The automatic sliding door won't operate and needs to be forced open at times. Furthermore, it drives terribly in any inclement weather, be it rain or snow. It's been one problem after another, and while some of these issues have recalls, they only apply to specific vans. Unfortunately, mine is not one of them, despite clearly having these issues. I implore you to fix it!

I have had a few too many visits to the dealer for various issues such as strange sounds, creaky suspension, technology issues, and poor temperature & fog control. Although the dealer has said that these are normal sounds, I have never heard them in other cars. If you are okay with 'normal' sounds that don't instill confidence, then this car may be for you. However, if you prefer a more reliable and better-looking car with higher resale value, I would recommend a Toyota or Honda. UPDATE: After a few more months, the suspension is creaking again, and the noise in the front left continues. According to Chrysler, this is 'normal', but I have yet to find another vehicle that makes this sound. The sliding doors also have a new feature where they decide to open back up when closing them from the exterior handle. Overall, this car has been underwhelming and a disappointment. FINAL UPDATE: I have since gotten rid of it and am much happier with my Sienna! It was unfortunate to have lost the money, but it was worth it in the end.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to let you know that the car comes with two batteries, but unfortunately, the auxiliary battery died after 15 months and the car won't start. I went to the dealership and they told me that the battery is on backorder because it's a very common problem, so I've been waiting for more than two weeks already. Thanks for your understanding!

The review has been updated. The seat of the vehicle is extremely uncomfortable and feels like sitting on a bag of rocks. The front 10-way seat adjustability does not provide any comfort. The driver's seat only has one armrest on the right side, which is not suitable for long drives. The leather covering on the seat is very hot in Florida, and cloth would have been a better option. The cooling system for the front seats is not effective. Overall, the vehicle is not a good choice for long drives or extended periods of time behind the wheel.
