2013 Chrysler 300c problems
The Chrysler 300 is a full-size car manufactured and marketed by Stellantis North America and its predecessor companies as a four-door sedan and station wagon in its first generation (model years 2005–2010) and solely as a four-door sedan in its second generation (model years 2011–2023).
The second generation 300 was marketed as the Chrysler 300C in the United Kingdom and Ireland and as the Lancia Thema in the remainder of Europe.
Background
The Chrysler 300 continues a tradition of large front engine, rear-wheel drive V8-powered luxury sedans the company has offered, starting in the 1940s with the Chrysler Saratoga and Chrysler New Yorker, followed by the Chrysler Windsor, Chrysler Newport and the Chrysler Cordoba, with the last rear wheel drive sedan, the Chrysler Fifth Avenue that ended production in 1989.
When the company began operations in 1925, the Chrysler Six was entered as a roadster in the 1925 24 Hours of Le Mans where it finished the race, and in 1926, the Chrysler Imperial started the tradition of luxury and performance products. Starting in 1955, the Imperial became its own luxury brand and offered the Imperial Newport along with the Imperial Crown. The original Chrysler FirePower Hemi engine powered the Cunningham C-5R, a special racecar, and finished the 1952 Le Mans, 1953 Le Mans, and 1954 Le Mans endurance races, as well as the 1953 12 Hours of Sebring.

Common 2013 Chrysler 300c problems
The 2013 Chrysler 300C has been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to the electrical system, engine, and transmission.
- Defective Airbags: Several recalls were issued in 2015 and 2016 for numerous 2005-2010 Chrysler models due to airbag issues. The frontal and/or passenger air bags installed in the affected units may be prone to moisture, causing the material to rupture easily. The inflators could rupture during a crash and cause severe injuries.
- HVAC System: Some Chrysler 300 units from the 2005-2009, 2012, 2013, and 2016 model years may develop and emit a musty odor due to bacterial growth in the HVAC system. This issue can be resolved by applying a cleaner or disinfectant to inhibit bacterial growth or using a coating for the evaporator.
- Rough Shifting: Owners of 2004-2016 Chrysler 300s have experienced transmission issues like shuddering and roughness when shifting gears. Software updates on the powertrain control and transmission control module can potentially solve the issue.
- Engine Troubles: Some Chrysler 300 models have received complaints about jarring noises coming from the engine and oil sludge buildup, which can lead to engine overheating and failure. The timing chain-driven water pump and water pump gasket are also known to leak, causing engine damage.
- Transmission Failure: The 5-speed and 8-speed automatic transmissions in the Chrysler 300 are known to have issues, with the 5-speed transmission usually lasting around 180,000 miles. If a car has more miles than this, it should be inspected carefully for transmission issues.
- Rocker Arm Failure: Between 2011 and 2013, the Chrysler 300 experienced rocker arm failure on the left bank due to bad valve guides. This problem resulted in the valve losing its position and destroying the head, requiring a head replacement. Chrysler increased the warranty for these engines up to 10 years due to this issue.
- Cooling Problems: The V6 engine in the Chrysler 300 is prone to overheating issues, especially if the engine oil pump fails. If the oil pressure drops, it's likely that the oil pump has failed, requiring replacement.
- MDS System Issues: The MDS system, designed to improve fuel efficiency, has been reported to cause issues in the new generation Chrysler 300s. This system can cause hesitation, stalling, and rough idling.
- Rear End Knocking: A knocking sound coming from the rear of the car can be caused by a lack of lubrication on the ends of the drive shafts from the differential to the rear wheels. Applying lubrication to those ends can help resolve the issue. However, if the knocking sound persists, it could be due to leaking rear shock absorbers, which would require replacement.
These common problems should be considered when purchasing a 2013 Chrysler 300C, as they may impact the vehicle's reliability and require costly repairs.

- Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: ON MORE THAN 20 OCCASIONS, WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY 'SHUTS OFF'. EVERYTHING IS COMPLETELY OFF. ENGINE, POWERTRAIN, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. SOMETIMES THERE'S A WARNING LIGHT THAT FLASHES AFTER THE SHUT DOWN THAT LOOKS LIKE A REDDISH ORANGE SIDEWAYS Z LIGHTING BOLT. THE CHECK ENGINE GOES ON SOMETIMES AND OTHER TIMES IT DOES NOT. WHEN IT GOES ON IT SOMETIMES STAYS ON AND SOMETIMES IT DISAPPEARS. I'VE HAD 2 CHRYSLER DEALERS AND 1 INDEPENDENT MECHANIC RUN DIAGNOSTICS AND NO ONE CAN PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. SO FAR, I'VE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, HANGED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND PAN, AND HAD THE FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED. I'M BEING TOLD THAT 'MAYBE' IT'S THE FUEL PUMP OR THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE. THE [XXX] HAS ONLY OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS SO FAR. THANKFULLY, I'VE BEEN ABLE TO PULL OFF ON THE SHOULDER EVERY TIME. THAT MAY BECAUSE I AVOID ROADS WITH NO SHOULDERS AND ONLY DRIVE IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND HAS RENDERED THE VEHICLE UNSAFE FOR HIGHWAY DRIVING. I'VE DISCOVERED A CURRENT CHRYSLER RECALL, U87 THAT APPEARS TO BE EXACTLY MY SYMPTOMS, BUT MY CHRYSLER DEALER COULD NOT FIND A CODE THAT PROVED IT. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
