On August 8, 2023, GM unveiled the Escalade IQ, an all-electric version of the Escalade, and the third model in Cadillac's EV line, after the Celestiq, and Lyriq. It is expected to go on sale in late 2024 for the 2025 model year, with a starting price of $130,000.

  • Summary:  For approx. the past 6 months, the radio has been cutting out several times during my daily commute. On occasion, a message would appear saying Stabilitrack is off. Saturday, it cut out and stayed off for more than 30 minutes and did it several more times. Everytime the radio cuts out, the door locks started locking and unlocking on their own, the air conditioning, cooled front seats, and defrost turns on and the seats the airbag off light came on, and a warning message saying service stability system came on, plus the engine was revving without power and I was worried I was going to lose all electrical and control, so I pulled off the We have ran several diagnostic but found no error code messages and nothing wrong with the vehicle. When I was talking to them, the system was acting normally. I have taken the car to the dealership and my local family mechanic shop. We have paid extensively to change the grounding wire, battery, cables, fuses and other grounding components to resolve this issue. It is very dangerous and has caused my family to jerk and sometimes be hit in the process. It has died on the highway and creates an extreme possibility for accident to others, if this continues to occur. I typically would not reach out in this manner and I would just replace the vehicle, but through further research, others have also had this problem, reported it on the Cadillac forum and we have not been added to the previous electrical recall or gotten resolutions. This is my last resort before this becomes a fatality for some owner.

The new seat belts are designed to safely secure a car seat by locking when pulled completely out. Unfortunately, this means that car seats can no longer be secured in the 3rd row of 2009 and 2010 ESVs. However, you can still secure car seats in the 2nd row, which also has anchors for added safety. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope that you continue to enjoy your Escalade ESV despite this limitation. Thank you for your understanding!

While it drives okay, it's not the best around corners, and the auto box sometimes struggles to keep up with the engine. Unfortunately, the build quality was a downfall for me and ultimately led me to switch to a LR3 Land Rover, which I find much nicer to drive.

    ... for something aesthetically pleasing. I purchased a used CPO 2009 Cadillac Escalade with ~53,000 miles at the end of 2014. It was fully loaded and I was so excited to have it. However, as time went on, I started to experience some issues with the car. Thankfully, all repairs were still under warranty, but unfortunately, the warranty is set to expire in a month. I am now seriously considering selling the car to avoid costly repairs. Since I have owned it for almost a year, I have had to get several repairs done, including the heating and ventilation front driver seat repair, front struts replacement, cables to and from battery replacement due to complete electrical system failure while driving, lumbar support driver's seat repair, right driver's side CV boot leak, side cover for moon roof replacement, tire pressure monitoring system constantly going on/off, and now battery draining overnight and auto-up/down on driver side window malfunctioning. The complete electrical failure while driving was the scariest. We experienced a complete electrical system failure while driving twice (i.e. NO POWER STEERING, NO ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, NO INJECTION OF FUEL INTO ENGINE). Thankfully, my wife and I were able to pull the vehicle over before an accident occurred. Cadillac replaced the cables going to and from the car battery which has seemingly remedied the issue. There are tons of forums of this occurring and how the NHTSA has not recalled the car because of this boggles my mind. Overall, this car has been a bit of a headache, and I would not recommend it if you value reliability or quality craftsmanship. Unfortunately, it was my wife's dream car, but it has been in the shop more often than not and she has been unable to showcase its most valuable asset: aesthetics. I cannot imagine the cost that we will incur once the CPO warranty expires. For example, the cost to repair the driver's side heated and ventilated seat was just over $1,000. The Cadillac dealership near us charges $150 just to diagnose an issue. I guess this is what you get for a In comparison, I have owned a 2004 Lexus ES330 with 130,000 miles and have only needed to perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and new tires. I have owned it for 3 years, purchasing it with approximately 90,000 miles. I understand the challenges that Cadillac owners may face, and wish you all the best.

    I returned to GM after a disappointing experience with Range Rover. Both vehicles I owned turned out to be maintenance nightmares within 6 months. Unfortunately, my 2009 ESV has been in the shop twice in the last 6 months. The first time was due to an electronic issue and just yesterday, my transmission failed with only 13k miles on it. This is not a good sign. I hope my dealership can resolve the issue soon.

    I have owned 3 Range Rovers from 2005 up until 2008 and I must say, I regret getting rid of my Range Rover. The difference in quality between my previous car and my current one is like going from a Porsche to a scooter. Unfortunately, the stitching is poorly done and the fake wood trim looks like plastic. Even from a side rear view, the Escalade doesn't look very appealing. The Escalade also idles very roughly, but I suppose that's to be expected from a GM car. It's possible that the car was built in a hurry by robots. Fortunately, I lease this car, so I can't wait to switch back to my beloved Range Rover.

    I'm glad to hear that your Escalade has been reliable for you, even with 250k miles on it! While some parts like door lock actuators and sensors may fail over time, it's great to know that the important components like the motor and transmission are still going strong. Although it may leak oil from various parts, it's good to hear that you change the oil every 5k miles and it only uses about half a quart. It sounds like it's a great vehicle to drive and easy to work on. Spending 10k on it 12 years later seems like a good investment for a safe and reliable family vehicle.
