The name Yukon refers to the Yukon territory of northern Canada.
For the 1995 model year, the Tahoe and Yukon gained a new, longer four-door model, slotting in size between the two-door models and the longer-wheelbase Chevrolet/GMC Suburbans.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Philippines, and the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand-drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are part of General Motors' full-size SUV family and are differentiated from the similar Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL primarily by the length of the passenger and cargo area behind the C-pillar. An upscale trim GMC Denali sub-model joined the Yukon lineup as the top-of-the-line trim for the 1999 model year; the Cadillac Escalade is a closely related upscale version sharing the same platform. The Denali is available on both standard and XL versions.

- Summary: While barely moving, (about 2 mph), in a parking lot & preparing to make a sharp left turn, knuckle of driver's side wheel assembly suddenly broke, causing the wheel assembly to collapse, wheel top tilted inward and bottom tilted outward, causing major damage to upper and lower control arms, tie rod and significant body damage to two body parts at the wheel opening. Mechanic reported that there had been very excessive ‘play’ before the collapse At 86,000 miles, this is a very low-mileage for this degree of wear and complete failure, on a full-size, PPV SUV, with many heavy-duty features, designed to tolerate high stress usage. FORTUATELY, the car was barely rolling. If this had happened 5 minutes later, I would have been driving 65 mph and this would have caused a catastrophic wreck, could have involved several other cars, and could have injured or even killed many people. I am now very concerned about the condition of the knuckle on the passenger side. It could be developing microscopic cracks that would only be observable with X-ray. ESPECIALLY with this defect being on a very popular police model, Highway Patrol PPV vehicle, more failures will endanger many people.

I was not at fault and yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. In February of 2022 I took the vehicle to Felix Chevrolet to have the airbag recall repaired. In late January 2023, the "T-Bone" collision occurred. My elderly mother (front passenger) and my two sons (13 and 14 rear passengers) were also in the vehicle. ZERO airbags deployed in my vehicle. The vehicle has been parked at my residence since the incident. The vehicle or component has NOT been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others since the incident. I noticed the dash cracking after the recall was performed in 2022. I contacted Felix Chevrolet and spoke the Asst Manager Sergio who told me that GM is NOT replacing the cracked dash boards and if I could take a photo and text it to him--which I did.

It's a bit slow, but it definitely saves gas. In the long run, it's worth the investment. Although I'm not particularly into the whole green movement, I must say this car is really nice.

I was in the market for a large SUV. So why not decrease my carbon exposure and increase some fuel saving? I average 21.3 in city driving and almost 24 on the highway. The hybrid technology has changed the way I drive in that I am not as aggressive a driver as I once was, saving much more on fuel economy. I totally recommend hybrids. It was a great purchase, even though people think a large SUV Hybrid is an oxymoron.

This is by far the best Tahoe I have ever owned out of the four. It's a shame that they don't make the Tahoe Hybrid anymore. I have never had any issues with this vehicle, not even minor ones. The only thing I wish is that it could be a bit quieter at highway speeds, especially when I'm on a speaker phone.

I recently traded in my 2007 gas Tahoe for the 2008 hybrid and I must say, the mileage is everything that they say it is! It has definitely changed my driving habits as I am no longer as aggressive and heavy-footed as I used to be. I am now averaging 21.3 MPG overall, mostly city driving with a little bit of highway. On my gas Tahoe, I would be lucky to get 325 miles per tank, but with the hybrid, I can easily get 500 miles per fill-up!

I recently purchased a 2010 Tahoe Hybrid (my third car) with 130K miles and a 6.0L V8 engine. Unfortunately, after driving it for only 3000 miles, the motor broke down. Cylinder 1 & 6 have no compression and the lifters collapsed. While I usually don't buy American cars, this experience has reminded me why. Despite the truck's immaculate body and interior, I now need to find a replacement motor. It's disappointing that American car companies produce such unreliable vehicles. In my opinion, German and Japanese automakers are far superior in terms of longevity. It's a real shame that American car companies haven't learned how to build cars that last.
