The Daewoo Lacetti is a compact car manufactured and marketed globally by GM Korea since 2002. The first-generation Lacetti was available as a four-door sedan and five-door station wagon, styled by Pininfarina—and five-door hatchback styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro. The sedan and wagon were marketed as the Daewoo Nubira in some European markets and as the Suzuki Forenza in North America. The hatchback, was introduced in 2004 and marketed as Daewoo Lacetti5 in South Korea, Suzuki Reno in the United States. After the 2004 model year, it was marketed as Chevrolet Nubira and Lacetti in Europe, as the Chevrolet Optra in Canada, Latin America, Africa, Middle East, India, Japan and Southeast Asia, and as the Holden Viva in Australia and New Zealand.

In 2008, the second-generation Lacetti was launched as the Daewoo Lacetti Premiere, a badge-engineered version of the Chevrolet Cruze, co-developed by GM Daewoo, Holden, and General Motors. It was marketed under the Daewoo marque until the beginning of 2011, when the brand was discontinued, and was thereafter marketed under the Chevrolet and Holden brands.

The name Lacetti derives from the Latin "Lacertus", meaning "youthful".

Suzuki Forenza 2005 engine

How long does Suzuki Forenza last?

A Suzuki Forenza with 116,000 miles should go another 100,000 miles plus if the maintenance schedule is followed in the owners manual.

What kind of engine is in a Suzuki Forenza?

2.0-liter four-cylinder

The Forenza comes as a five-passenger sedan or wagon. Its engine, generating up to 127 horsepower and 131 lb. -ft. of torque, is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that is mated to either a standard five-speed manual or an optional four-speed automatic transmission.

What year did Suzuki make the Forenza?

The Suzuki Forenza Wagon and Reno are new to Suzuki's Forenza family for the 2005 model year. Both are based on the Forenza sedan, which was introduced as an all-new model for 2004.

Is Suzuki Forenza a good car?

The Forenza's many features might appear tempting, but its performance does not compete well with the class leaders. The 126-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivers fairly slow acceleration and only so-so fuel economy. The Forenza corners reluctantly and does not inspire confidence when pushed to its limits.

Suzuki Forenza 2005 recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 3 recalls for different components of the Suzuki Forenza 2005.

2014-05-19
  • Manufacturer: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc.
  • Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
  • Summary: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Forenza vehicles, and 2005-2008 Reno vehicles manufactured from September 1, 2003, through July 30, 2008. In the affected vehicles, heat may be generated in the headlamp switch or daytime running light (DRL) module which could melt the headlamp switch or the DRL module.
  • Consequence: If the heat generated within the headlamp switch or DRL module located on the left side of the steering column melts the headlamp switch or DRL module, there is an increased risk of a fire.
  • Remedy: Suzuki will replace the signal switch and add a jumper relay kit and will replace the DRL Module in teh instrument panel harness. Suzuki distributed to owners an interim letter on July 30, 2014. The recall began October 29, 2014. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-934-0934. Suzuki's number for this recall is XA.
2012-08-14
  • Manufacturer: AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP.
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:INTERIOR/UNDER DASH
  • Summary: Suzuki is recalling certain model year 2004-2006 Forenza and model year 2005-2006 Reno vehicles manufactured from September 23, 2003, through March 7, 2006. Increased resistance due to poor contact between the terminals of certain wires can generate heat that can melt the splice pack used to connect the power circuit wires for the headlamps. This can result in intermittent or total loss of low/high beam headlamp function.
  • Consequence: If the headlamps fail to function, this will lead to reduced driver visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Suzuki will notify owners, and Suzuki dealers will reconnect the affected wires with two heat-shrink crimps, free of charge. The safety recall began on September 25, 2012. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-877-697-8985.

  • Remedy: DEALERS WILL SPLICE THE POWER CIRCUIT WIRES FOR THE LOW-BEAM HEADLAMPS AND DRL FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL WILL BE MAILED IN THREE PHASES, STARTING AT THE END OF OCTOBER 2007 AND CONCLUDING BY THE END OF JANUARY 2008;. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SUZUKI AT 1-800-934-0934.

Negative Suzuki Forenza 2005 car reviews

  1. Unique Gutkowski 2024-10-05

I have been driving this car for some time now and unfortunately, I have had to visit the dealership once every 4 months for repairs. As someone who is used to Nissan's high quality, I am disappointed. I have noticed that the airbag light tends to turn on after a month of being fixed at the dealership. I am unsure whether I should pay $300 each quarter to fix it or ignore it. Additionally, the transmission is another common issue. If you enjoy seeing a lot of lights on the dashboard all the time, then this car may be for you. However, if you prefer a different manufacturer, I would recommend exploring other options.

  2. Michael Feil 2024-09-11

Your Forenza is definitely eye-catching! It has a good ride, good handling, and a good interior. However, the engine performance is lacking and the fuel economy is only average. It feels more comfortable cruising at high speeds. Unfortunately, the car has been in the shop twice, once for the driver's side airbag light and the second time for the driver's side airbag light and for an entire A/C system failure, other than regular service.

  3. Mason Yundt 2024-08-09

I've owned my car for a month now and I'm happy with it. There was a minor glitch with the clock not working, but the service team fixed it by replacing a blown fuse. The car rides smoothly, has good pickup, and the sound system is great. I personally didn't find the legroom to be an issue, although some others have reported it. I used to own an original 1986 Pontiac Grand Am, which had just as much leg space as this car, but my friends find the backseat more comfortable in this one.

  4. Sven Gorczany 2024-08-02

This vehicle has experienced multiple issues since the first month of purchase. The engine has been making a lot of noise lately, and unfortunately, the repairs are not covered by the warranty. Despite seeking help from the dealership mechanic, I have received three different causes for the trouble. As a result, I have lost confidence in their ability to diagnose and fix the problem. I am disappointed with the quality of the vehicle and the customer service provided. I hope to find a more reliable brand in the future.

  5. Moriah Vandervort 2024-07-24

Suzuki has made great strides in the design and quality of its vehicles. I have been thoroughly impressed with the Forenza, which exceeded my expectations for its class and price range (starting at $10,499). I have experience with both the 5-speed and automatic S-model versions, and while the automatic shifts smoothly, it lacks horsepower. The manual transmission is more spirited in comparison, but still falls behind its competitors from Honda, Toyota, and Nissan. However, the manual transmission does offer better fuel economy. Overall, I hold this car in high regard, and believe that with a few improvements, it could become even more competitive.

Positive Suzuki Forenza 2005 car reviews

  1. Nico Huel 2024-11-14

What a great deal! You can get a beautiful, comfortable, fully equipped, and convenient car with fantastic gas mileage. Plus, you'll never have to worry about buying another American-made auto. The 100,000 mile warranty is unheard of in the American car market, and the equivalent American car was $10,000 more expensive.

  2. Kristian Will 2024-10-20

The Suzuki Ex caught my eye with its price of $13,800 and some change out of the door (OTD). It comes fully loaded with leather seats, front and back airbags, power windows, a full-fledged alarm system, cruise control, AM/FM CD/Cassette player, sunroof, fog lights, and audio control buttons located on the steering wheel. Additionally, it offers 3 years of road service and 7 years warranty on major mechanical components. For that price, I really cannot complain. I have been driving this vehicle for a week and a half and it gives me better gas mileage than my Sienna LE. I previously owned a Town & Country Chrysler, which brought nothing but stress and nightmares.

  3. Kendrick Hessel 2024-10-14

This car is great on gas! I can usually get almost 400 miles on a full tank. The engine is a little rough, but that's to be expected with a 4 cylinder.

  4. Ben Emmerich 2024-10-02

Let's start with options that are worth your money. You went with the base model and there's nothing basic about it! It has almost everything powered, an unbeatable warranty, especially when compared to Hyundai's. It's dependable, comfortable, and affordable. You couldn't ask for more in terms of quality and service! Thank you, Suzuki!

  5. Rosendo Ryan 2024-09-24

I bought this wagon when my pick up died (of course in front of the dealership). I looked really smart because the price of gas went through the roof right after I bought it. The only problems I have had was that it eats tires, which I remedied by going to a 60 series tire instead of the 55 that it comes with. The other problem was when a critter ate the wire harness. The dealer fixed it and was able to get most of the cost covered under warranty. I drive the car every day to work and to drumming jobs, and it gets over 30 mpg. The car holds so much that we take it on our vacations, even though my wife's car is bigger. It's a great car, but it's too bad Suzuki has discontinued it for 09.
