2014 Chevrolet Impala problems
The Chevrolet Impala (/ɪmˈpælə, -ˈpɑːlə/) is a full-size car that was built by Chevrolet for model years 1958 to 1985, 1994 to 1996, and 2000 to 2020. The Impala was Chevrolet's popular flagship passenger car and was among the better-selling American-made automobiles in the United States.
For its debut in 1958, the Impala was distinguished from other models by its symmetrical triple taillights. The Chevrolet Caprice was introduced as a top-line Impala Sport Sedan for model year 1965, later becoming a separate series positioned above the Impala in 1966, which, in turn, remained above the Chevrolet Bel Air and the Chevrolet Biscayne. The Impala continued as Chevrolet's most popular full-sized model through the mid-1980s. Between 1994 and 1996, the Impala was revised as a 5.7-liter V8–powered version of the Chevrolet Caprice Classic sedan.
In 2000, the Impala was reintroduced again as a mainstream front-wheel drive car. In February 2014, the 2014 Impala ranked No. 1 among Affordable Large Cars in U.S. News & World Report's rankings. When the 10th generation of the Impala was introduced for the 2014 model year, the 9th generation was rebadged as the Impala Limited and sold only to fleet customers through 2016. During that time, both versions were sold in the United States and Canada. The 10th-generation Impala was also sold in the Middle East and South Korea.

Common 2014 Chevrolet Impala problems
Based on complaints from owners of the Chevrolet Impala 2014, here are some common problems with this car:
- Reluctor for Crankshaft Sensor: In some 2014-2019 models with a 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine, the reluctor for the crankshaft sensor can move from its mounting position, triggering the check engine light. This issue requires replacing the crankshaft to resolve it.
- Piston Oil Nozzles Detachment: Vehicles with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine may experience detachment of the internal parts of the piston oil nozzles. This can lead to low engine oil pressure and potential damage to internal engine parts.
- Coolant Temperature Sensor Leak: Some 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine models are prone to coolant leaks from the coolant temperature sensor. This can contaminate electrical connections, leading to electrical shorts and issues with the engine control module.
- Carbon Buildup: Engines with over 100,000 miles are susceptible to carbon buildup around the intake valves and ports. This buildup can cause rough idling, acceleration hesitation, and cylinder misfires, necessitating periodic walnut blasting of the intake ports.
- Front Catalytic Converter Pipe Cracks: Certain models with a 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine may develop cracks around the mounting flange weld of the front catalytic converter pipes, resulting in exhaust leaks.
- High-Pressure Fuel Pump Failure: The high-pressure fuel pump in some 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine vehicles can experience premature failure, leading to reduced engine power due to low fuel pressure. This issue is indicated by the code P228C stored in the engine control module.
- Fuel Level Sensor Malfunction: The fuel level sensor attached to the fuel pump module inside the fuel tank can malfunction, causing the fuel gauge to display an incorrect fuel level.
- Strut Mount Noises: Some vehicles may experience creaking noises from the strut mounts when the steering wheel is turned in cold temperatures.
- Water Pump Issues: Water pumps in certain 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine models are prone to becoming noisy and developing coolant leaks before reaching 100,000 miles, necessitating replacement.
- CV Boot Tears: CV boots are prone to tearing over time, allowing dirt and water to enter and potentially damage the CV joints.
These issues highlight common problems reported by owners of the Chevrolet Impala 2014, emphasizing the importance of regular maintenance and prompt attention to any warning signs to ensure the vehicle's optimal performance and safety.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-05-06
- VIN: 1G1155S32EU
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE
- Summary: The side detection module has just failed out for the second time in under 2 years, 20k miles on my 2014 Impala LTZ. The first time it failed (less than two years ago), the side detection indicator on the mirrors started to go off randomly, and then eventually, I was unable to reliably lock/unlock my car. Eventually, it wouldn't even start/shut off (Push to start), and the entire dash was off even when running. It messed with seemingly the entire car's electrical system, and made it unsafe to drive (imagine if I would've been on the highway and the car shut down, plus I didn't have any gauges at all). As stated, this system (and side detection module specifically), has corroded and gone out again, despite this module supposedly being better sealed. I had a GM dealership replace the entire system with their kit, which was out of their specialty 80k mile warranty for this system, as they realize it is flawed but refuses to recall it. This kit was approximately $1000 installed, and I am again looking at the same price for a flawed system that GM is totally aware of and one that has safety implications and makes the vehicle undrivable.

- VIN: 2G1155S3XE9
- Components: POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE
- Summary: Fourth time I had submitted this text so this one will be vague. I've had to Repair my stuts and shocks and brakes to my vehicle due to ongoing issues with tires while divingand hitting small speesbumps and potholes. I did replace low performance tires and still was an issue with my struts and shocks when I drive causing me to hit a bump or a small hole and diverts me to the next lane of ongoing traffic also I had to my battery replaced twice. To find out that it was only due to corrosion and the battery cables slipping was frustrating cause I did replace the battery and key fob battery already. Car wouldn't start and when it did it took forever hours to restart and engine still seems to get bogged down In ongoing traffic. Which was the prior issue no power no matter how hard i press the gas. I took to autozone and they did a reading which came back that everything was okay including the battery which was obviously not okay. It was leaking fluid and i have already replaced year and half ago due to same issue. They cables seem to slip over time on its own. What to do? Thank you for your time to look into this issue. Kindest Regards

- Summary: I have a 2014 Chevy Impala LTZ, owned it for 9 years. Just started with issues within the last 6months and it just seems to be getting worst everyday. While making a left turn, not even driving 5mph my power steering fails and the drivers side tires seem to lock up as if the car would be hydro planing. Once it happens the dashboard Alerts come on such as Stabilitrac, Traction Control, ABS, Service Break Assistance, Power Steering, and I lost control of the car in the middle of the road!! Brought the car to the shop they change the wheel bearings. We also changed the brakes in March of this year, we had a front and back realignment plus new tires within the last 6 months. The dealer we got it from is no longer in business, as I did buy it used. I called the Chevrolet 800 number for recalls but no luck finding anything. After searching year/make/model I found similar issues to other "2014 Chevy" within the last couple of years. This is a serious issue and it can become dangerous while driving with my family in the car. I can't afford another vehicle as this car is my reliable vehicle.

- Remedy: GM began to notify owners on June 27, 2014, and dealers will inspect the fasteners for correct torque, correcting them as necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac) or 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). GM's number for this recall is 14378.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION
- Summary: This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne, 2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille, 2006-2011 Cadillac DTS, 2006-2014 Chevrolet Impala, and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the weight on the key ring and road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
- Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, a key knocked out of the run position will cause loss of engine power, power steering, and power braking, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 23, 2014. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), and 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). GM's number for this recall is 14299.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014 Buick Regal, LaCrosse, Verano, and Enclave, and Chevrolet Impala, Malibu, Cruze, and Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. In the affected vehicles, the transmission shift cable adjuster may disengage from the transmission shift lever. As such, these vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." They also fail to conform to FMVSS number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
- Consequence: If a vehicle's shift cable disengages from the transmission shift lever, a driver may be unable to shift gear positions and the indicated shift position may not represent the gear position the vehicle is in. Should a disengagement occur while the vehicle is being driven, when the driver goes to stop and park the vehicle, the driver may be able to shift the lever to the "PARK" position, but the vehicle transmission may not be in the "PARK" gear position. If the vehicle is not in the "PARK" position there is a risk the vehicle will roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.
- Remedy: General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace any affected transmission shift cable adjusters, free of charge. The recall began on April 10, 2014. Chevrolet owners may contact General Motors at 1-800-222-1020, Buick owners at 1-800-521-7300, and GMC owners at 1-800-462-8782. General Motors' number associated with this recall is 14048.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013 Cadillac ATS and model year 2013 Cadillac XTS; model year 2014 Chevrolet Impala; and 2013 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles. Originally, in May 2013, GM recalled 1,627 model year 2013 Cadillac ATS and model year 2013 Cadillac XTS; and model year 2014 Chevrolet Impala vehicles. In October 2013, GM informed the agency that it was adding model year 2013 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles to this campaign , representing an additional 8,050 units. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 9,677. On the affected vehicles, the brake lamps may intermittently flash without the brakes being applied and the cruise control may disengage. Thus, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."
- Consequence: If the brake lamps flash when the vehicle is not slowing, a following driver may not adjust vehicle speed when the vehicle is in fact braking, and the brake lamps are illuminating as intended, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the body control module. The recall began on June 13, 2013. Owner's may contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. GM's recall number is 13158.

One of my most favorite cars I've owned had so many features that I could never have imagined in a car. It was incredibly roomy and comfortable.

This is one of the many Impalas that I own. This four-cylinder model performs the best and I have never had any problems with it. I will definitely buy it again.

It's perfect!

Hey there! I noticed that on the 2014 LTZ, the exhaust pipes stop short of the ports, which caused them to turn black on the outside of the ports. Unfortunately, Chevrolet didn't make any after-market extensions for the 2014's, but they did fix this issue on later models.

This vehicle has just under 54,000 miles, which is considered low mileage for an 8-year-old car. At 51,000 miles, there was an intermittent check engine light, but it turned out to be a minor issue with a plastic air intake scoop that was quickly and affordably fixed by a mechanic for less than $250. Other than routine oil changes and a new set of tires at 48,000 miles, there have been no other issues to report. The car gets 18 mpg in pure city driving, 28 mpg at 70+ miles an hour, and an average of about 23 mpg for combo driving. The V-6 engine provides excellent acceleration. I absolutely love this car and hope to keep it for another 5 or 6 years.

I have owned three Impalas consecutively, starting from 2000, then 2007, and now this 2014 model. Although I have enjoyed the styling, interior comfort, and drivability of each one, I have noticed a decline in my satisfaction with each subsequent purchase. Unfortunately, this will be my last Impala. While the car was recalled twice in the first year, the repairs were minor. However, I did experience a fuel line rupture within the first six months, and a wheel bearing failure at less than 50,000 miles. Additionally, the car does not perform well in snowy conditions, with a lot of wheel spinning on even slight inclines. Currently, I am experiencing an annoying hum from the rear of the car. Overall, I do not feel that this model is as well-built as my previous two Impalas.

Pros: The car has a great exterior and interior design, and pays attention to all the little details. However, the ride quality is a major concern. The ride is extremely stiff, and every bump and road imperfection can be felt in the car. This can make driving uncomfortable and unpleasant. Additionally, there is more engine vibration than expected for a car of this level, which can cause headaches during commutes. The dealership claims that this is normal for the car and that it rides smoothly, but it may be worth considering other options if a smoother ride is a priority for you.

I recently received this car from my parents, who wanted me to have a larger vehicle than a Chevy Cruze or Malibu. While I appreciate their gesture, I have to admit that this car falls short in a few areas. The interior feels a bit cheap and the model doesn't connect to my phone via Bluetooth. Additionally, the back window is quite small, making it difficult to see when backing up, and the sensors aren't very accurate. While the car does have a nice ride, the cons outweigh the pros for me. It's quite large and bulky, and I don't feel that it's worth the 15,000 to 16,000 dollars that it costs used. The acceleration is also quite slow and the gear shifts can be abrupt and jolty. Overall, I'm not a big fan of this car, but I appreciate the thought behind the gift.

Hi there! I recently had my vehicle serviced for remote start issues. Unfortunately, I left my remote at home and drove miles into Canada before receiving a message that no remote was detected. I immediately started the car and returned home, shutting it off several times before parking in my driveway. Despite this, the problem persisted and my vehicle is now being serviced for the same issue a year later. Additionally, I've noticed that my vehicle doesn't shut down if left running. I was told that the vehicle should shut off after 15-20 minutes, and that the doors don't lock, so the vehicle could be driven away. Can you help me with this issue?

There seems to be an issue with the secondary injectors and the pump. Fortunately, the emissions warranty is good until 150000 miles and should cover it. However, they seem to use a loophole to get out of fixing it. It's an 800$ fix that happens once a year, which is quite frustrating. Although the car is beautiful, the headache it causes is not worth it. I hope Chevy can improve their service in the future. Thank you for your attention.
