2011 Chevrolet Impala problems
The Chevrolet Impala (/ɪmˈpælə, -ˈpɑːlə/) is a full-size car that was built by Chevrolet for model years 1958 to 1985, 1994 to 1996, and 2000 to 2020. The Impala was Chevrolet's popular flagship passenger car and was among the better-selling American-made automobiles in the United States.
For its debut in 1958, the Impala was distinguished from other models by its symmetrical triple taillights. The Chevrolet Caprice was introduced as a top-line Impala Sport Sedan for model year 1965, later becoming a separate series positioned above the Impala in 1966, which, in turn, remained above the Chevrolet Bel Air and the Chevrolet Biscayne. The Impala continued as Chevrolet's most popular full-sized model through the mid-1980s. Between 1994 and 1996, the Impala was revised as a 5.7-liter V8–powered version of the Chevrolet Caprice Classic sedan.
In 2000, the Impala was reintroduced again as a mainstream front-wheel drive car. In February 2014, the 2014 Impala ranked No. 1 among Affordable Large Cars in U.S. News & World Report's rankings. When the 10th generation of the Impala was introduced for the 2014 model year, the 9th generation was rebadged as the Impala Limited and sold only to fleet customers through 2016. During that time, both versions were sold in the United States and Canada. The 10th-generation Impala was also sold in the Middle East and South Korea.

Common 2011 Chevrolet Impala problems
The 2011 Chevrolet Impala has been reported to have several common problems, primarily related to the transmission, ignition, and electrical systems.
Transmission issues are a significant concern for the 2011 Impala, with many owners reporting loud noises, stuttering, and jerking before the transmission fails.
Ignition problems have also been reported, with some drivers experiencing their ignition switching off on bumpy roads due to a key that can accidentally switch to the off position. This issue is particularly concerning, as it can lead to a loss of power while driving, making it difficult to steer and control the vehicle.
Electrical issues are another common problem for the 2011 Impala, with many owners reporting problems with the electronic stability control (ESC) system. The ESC system is designed to help maintain control of the vehicle during sudden turns or swerves, but in the 2011 Impala, bad wiring in the wheel sensor system can cause the ESC to fail, reducing engine power and making it difficult to steer. This issue has not been subject to a recall, but a technical service bulletin was issued in May 2016 to address the problem.
In addition to these issues, some owners have reported problems with the power locks, heater, and excessive oil consumption.
Despite these common problems, the 2011 Chevrolet Impala is still a reliable full-size sedan, with a standard, potent V6 engine and a lack of widespread issues. However, potential buyers should be aware of these common problems and consider the costs associated with addressing them before making a purchase.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-08-19
- VIN: 2G1WC5EM4B1
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: After getting into my parked car and starting it, the Stabilitrak warning message came on my display. This is the 2nd tike that this occurred. The first time it occured, my mechanic diagnosed it as a failed throttle body, which I replaced myself, (easy removal/installation). Now, a couple of months later, it occurred again. After doing some online research, it seems as though the position sensor on the accelerator pedal may be at fault. A lot, if not most cars today have a "fly-by-wire" system which replaces cables and such with sensors and motors. So, the accelerator, (gas), pedal controls the movement of the butterfly valve on the throttle body by sending a signal to the motor. I'm going to replace that... about $140 or so. I saw a YouTube video and the removal/installation is fairly easy. A lot of people are having this issue; maybe a recall is needed?

- Summary: i own a 2011 chevy impala 4 door that has a very serious engine issue. I was on my way home and suddenly the service stability trac, and check engine light came on, then the message center displayed reduced engine power and low oil pressure then the engine shut off. I tried to restart the vehicle and it would not restart. I got it towed to a parking lot where it sat over night then it would restart but only for a few minutes. Once I got a scanner hooked up it had a p0642 code lost 5 volt reference circuit 1 and a cam sensor code I worked on this vehicle for two days and still have not found the issue. this vehicle needs a recall since this is a recurring issue with a few different model years of this vehicle and its always the same issue word for word, check engine light comes on, service stability trac, reduced engine power and low oil pressure lights come on the same p0642 lost 5 volt reference circuit 1. This is a very dangerous situation when going down the road and you lose engine power, steering and braking power. GM needs to correct this issue too many people have had this same issue.

- VIN: 2G1WG5EK1B1
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-06-12
- VIN: 2G1WG5EK5B1
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: Today, 6-12-2022, driving on US Highway 80 at 65 mph headed toward Phenix City, AL from Columbus, GA, the the engine shuddered, then the "Stabilitrack Service Light" came on, along with the check engine light, and a message for "reduced engine power." Then, the engine suddenly cut out as I was going uphill between the Riverchase Exit and the Summerville Exit. Luckily, I was driving and not my wife. I was able to glide the car back to the right shoulder of the road under ZERO power, and shut the ignition down. Cars were passing me at 65-75 mph, and I was very fortunate not to have caused an accident. After sitting there for about 5 minutes in 96 degree heat and my wife freaking out in the passenger seat, I restarted the car and eased it to the Summerville Exit, and slowly drove home, about another 6 miles. We were damn lucky not to have been hit by another car, as this happened on a what is essentially a freeway. After researching this , it seems this is a common problem being reported on this Model, the Chevy Impala. I'm sure Chevrolet knows about this...the company should be forced to recall this car model and fix it before folks start getting killed due to total engine failure...especially at a high speed like I was driving.

There have been 3 loaner cars given while car is being fixed however after now 4 months the car is still just sitting at the shop where it was purchased at without the engine being replaced or repaired. 2011 Chevrolet Impala recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2011 Chevrolet Impala.
- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION
- Summary: This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2011 Buick Lucerne, 2000-2005 Cadillac DeVille, 2006-2011 Cadillac DTS, 2006-2014 Chevrolet Impala, and 2006-2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the weight on the key ring and road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
- Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, a key knocked out of the run position will cause loss of engine power, power steering, and power braking, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 23, 2014. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), and 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). GM's number for this recall is 14299.

- Summary: General Motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 Chevrolet Impala police vehicles because the front lower control arms may fracture. This safety recall does not include non-police Chevrolet Impala vehicles.
- Consequence: A broken control arm can result in the loss of control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace both front lower control arms, free of charge. The safety recall began on August 21, 2012. Owners may contact the Chevrolet owner center at 1-866-694-6546.

G.M. is doing a great job building vehicles! I recently traded in my 08 LTZ for a 10 LTZ and I'm really impressed with the built-in blue-tooth and improved temperature controls. As a frequent road warrior, I know what it takes for a car to be comfortable and the LTZ model definitely delivers. I highly recommend it! Just make sure to take your new Impala to a good tire shop or back to the dealer to check the alignment. I've owned two Impalas that were shipped from the factory out of alignment, which can cause your factory tires to wear out quickly if not addressed.
-
Our Impala is really comfortable and we always enjoy our trips in it. I did notice that the cup holders could be a bit larger though!
-
The Chevy Impala LTZ is a well-designed car with intuitive controls and impressive features such as OnStar, which provides voice navigation and a dashboard display. The car even has its own phone number! The back seats can be folded to create a spacious compartment for groceries and other items, which is a clever and practical feature. The Impala drives beautifully with excellent handling and pickup, and the remote engine starting feature is particularly impressive. While the seats offer good lumbar support and comfort, they could be a bit softer for even greater comfort. The only minor issue is that the sunroof cover falls short of the glass opening by about 2 inches. Overall, the Chevy Impala LTZ is an impressive car that offers a great driving experience.
-
Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share with you my experience with my 2001 base Impala, which I affectionately call the Beast. It's been the best car I've ever had, but unfortunately, the aluminum rims have been a bit leaky. I've been looking to replace it and considered the LTZ, but since I drive slow, I don't need the power. Instead, I was looking for something with better gas mileage and that wouldn't break the bank with expensive tire replacements. That's when I found a 1-year-old LT with the luxury package, which includes a spoiler, sunroof, heated leather seats, power passenger seat, and Bose sound system. It only had 24K miles on it and came in a sleek silver color with 17

I've always been a Chevy man and my 2010 Impala 3.5L LT 1LT is no exception. My previous car, a 1994 Caprice Classic, had 190,000 miles on it and never gave me or my teenage son any trouble. My son now drives my 2003 Malibu V6 with 117,000 miles on it, and it's still going strong. It's all about maintenance, folks! The new Impala is incredibly comfortable and the 3.5L V6 is surprisingly quick, even for someone like me who grew up on V8's. The ride is smooth and the handling is quite good. It's also very quiet inside. I have a 70-mile commute on some tough roads, but so far the Impala has been performing great. I'm getting 27 mpg so far, which is impressive. The visibility is good and the brakes are well done. Overall, I'm very happy with my new Impala!

The transmission failed at 72k, just after the warranty expired, despite following the maintenance schedule and having regular transmission service. The repair cost was $2000. The Impala model is known to have common transmission issues, as confirmed by the transmission shop. Additionally, the low roofline makes it difficult to enter and exit, and the interior can feel cramped. Although the trunk is spacious, accessing items in the front half can be challenging due to the small trunk opening. Overall, the Impala feels more like a compact car than a full-sized one. Based on my experience, I would not purchase this model again.
Randal Gerlach 2024-10-10
I regret not reading reviews before purchasing this vehicle. Unfortunately, my transmission failed shortly after the 100,000 mile warranty expired, and the cost of a new transmission is close to $3,000 installed. The car has been at the mechanic's for the past two months while I decide what to do with it. Despite making payments on a car I cannot drive, I am confident that I will find a solution. While this experience has been frustrating, I remain optimistic and will consider all options before making a decision. I appreciate the quality of Chevy vehicles and will continue to consider them in the future.
Dillon Mann 2024-10-07
The Chevrolet Impala 2011 model has not met my expectations. However, I have owned several Impalas in the past and have been satisfied with their performance. The steering on this model is tighter than I prefer, which makes turning difficult, especially for my wife who has arthritis. Additionally, the bench seats are only moderately comfortable. The car's fuel efficiency is lower than my previous model, averaging 23 mpg instead of 30 mpg. Despite these issues, I am confident that the Impala is a reliable and well-built car.

I'm not a fan of the center rear headrest. Does anyone know how I can remove it? I'm worried it might cause an accident due to the blocked vision. I also agree with the others about the inconvenient placement of the cupholders and the small outside mirrors. Despite having the luxury package on the LT, I find the seats to be quite hard and uncomfortable.

The car has experienced multiple transmission repairs and has been deadlined on rough roads, but I can confidently say that it still has a lot of potential. We are still making payments on it, and I am confident that with proper maintenance and care, it will continue to serve us well.
