AIR BAGS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2016-11-15
- VIN: JNKAJ09E59M
- Components: AIR BAGS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: 1.FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG WARNING SENSOR LIGHT ALWAYS BLINKING DESPITE SEVERAL DEALER ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT. DEALER TRIED TO RESET SENSOR ON 5/05/10,10/23/15 & 11/15/16 AND AN ESTIMATE OF $5,091.96 ON 11/15/16 TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. MANUFACTURER DENIED CLAIM TO REPLACE SENSOR ON 11/17/16 (CASE # 24679041. 2. MULTIPLE DASHBOARD CRACKS. DEALER GAVE US AN ESTIMATE ON 9/4/18 OF $2,453.64 FOR PARTS, $800.00 FOR LABOR PLUS TAX ON PARTS & LABOR. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM DEALER IN 10/17/09 AND IS ALWAYS STORED INSIDE OUR GARAGE WHEN NOT IN USE, HAS 9,037 MILES AS OF 1/15/19 AND IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION ASIDE FROM THE TWO AFOREMENTIONED PROBLEMS.
AIR BAGS,SEATS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-03-05
- VIN: JNKAJ09F09M
- Components: AIR BAGS,SEATS
- Summary: THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING IN THE DASHBOARD NEXT TO THE SPEEDOMETER KEPT FLASHING WHILE STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING WHETHER OR NOT A PERSON WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OR NOT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TWICE TO BE FIXED (WHILE UNDER WARRANTY), BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED SPORADICALLY. I TOOK IT A 3RD TIME (NOW WARRANTY EXPIRED), THEY RESEARCHED DEEPER AND SAID THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE OCS SENSOR INSIDE OF THE SEAT, SO THE SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. $5000 CHARGE, MOTORWERKS OF BARRINGTON, IL. I HAVE NOT HAD IT FIXED YET. I FOUND THE SAME PASSENGER SIDE SENSOR WAS RECALLED IN NOVEMBER 2008, THE END OF THE YEAR PRIOR TO 2009 WHEN MY CAR WAS BUILT. IT APPEARS THE SAME PROBLEM WAS CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT YEAR (2009) BUT NO RECALL ISSUED. AND THEN DEALERSHIP MISSED THE PROBLEM WHILE UNDER WARRANTY (AND EXTENDED WARRANTY).
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-04-16
- VIN: JNKAJ09F39M
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS
- Summary: I TOOK THE CAR TO JIM COLEMAN INFINITI SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO FIND OUT WHY THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS FLASHING NON-STOP. AFTER THE DIAGNOSTIC THEY CONCLUDED IT WAS DUE TO PASSENGER SIDE OCS SENSOR FAULTY, SO IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE SENSOR THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE PASSENGER SEAT DUE TO SENSOR EMBEDDED IN THE SEAT AND ASKING FOR AROUND $4500 FOR PARTS AND $600 FOR LABOR. IT'S OUTRAGEOUS! ALTHOUGH I BOUGHT THE CAR AT 2009 I HARDLY DRIVE THE CAR AND TOOK METRO TO WORK MOST OF THE TIME SO THE MILEAGE IS ONLY <50K. AFTER I DID A RESEARCH ON THE WEB I DISCOVERED THAT THE 2007, 2008 INFINITI EX35 MODEL ALL HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM THAT RESULTED A RECALL. PER NHTSA, A SENSOR LOCATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION "MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED OUT OF SPECIFICATION. UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, THIS COULD CAUSE AN INTERRUPTION OF SIGNAL BETWEEN THE OCS [THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM -- WHICH ACTIVATES THE AIRBAG WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED] AND THE AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE PASSENGER AIRBAG BEING SUPPRESSED, WHICH COULD FAIL TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE PROTECTION IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH." IT APPEARS THAT INFINITI DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM FOR THE 2009 MODEL WHICH WAS PROBABLY ALREADY ON THE SALES LOT AND AS LONG AS THERE'S NO WARNING LIGHT FLASHING THEY ASSUME NO SENSOR PROBLEM BUT THE UNDERLYING SENSOR DEFECT STILL EXIST AND WAITING TO ERUPT. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR INFINITI'S OBVIOUS DESIGN/MANUFACTURED SENSOR DEFECT ESPECIALLY IT IS THE WELL-KNOWN SENSOR DEFECT THAT CAUSE THEIR 2008 RECALL (HTTPS://CARS.USNEWS.COM/CARS-TRUCKS/DAILY-NEWS/081016-URGENT-RECALL-ALERT-NISSAN-INFINITI-RECALLING-200-000-VEHICLES-FOR-AIRBAG-DEFECT). PLEASE ADVISE WHAT I CAN DO TO MAKE INFINITI TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THE SAME DEFECT FROM THE 2008 RECALL AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER DECEIVED BY THEM? THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
STEERING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-02-21
- VIN: JNKAJ09F29M
- Components: STEERING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: THE STEERING LOCK BOX STOPPED WORKING, AND THE CAR COULD NOT BE STARTED. WE SAW THAT NISSAN ALREADY HAS A CAMPAIGN ON THE SISTER CARS. FOR THIS ISSUE. I BELIEVE THE INVOLVES THE VERY SAME PART.THE CAR CAN NOT BE OPERATED WITH THIS ISSUE.
STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-02-21
- VIN: JNKAJ09F29M
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 INFINITI EX35. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HOLMAN INFINITI (577 NJ-38, MAPLE SHADE TOWNSHIP, NJ 08062) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING LOCK BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-08-31
- VIN: JNKAJ09E99M
- Components: POWER TRAIN
- Summary: TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 INFINITI EX35. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND PLACED THE GEAR IN REVERSE, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
TIRES,WHEELS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-06-02
- VIN: JNKAJ09F89M
- Components: TIRES,WHEELS
- Summary: I HAD A TIRE BLOWOUT ON THE LEFT REAR OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER MOUNTING THE SPARE I INSPECTED THE BLOWN OUT TIRE AND COULD NOT FIND A CAUSE FOR THE TIRE TO FAIL. UPON PUTTING THE DAMAGED WHEEL/TIRE IN THE SPARE TIRE WELL OF THE CAR I NOTICED THAT THE WHEEL VALVE STEM WAS MISSING AND HEARD SOMETHING ROLLING AROUND INSIDE THE TIRE. IT WAS THE (TPMS) VALVE STEM. I THEN INSPECTED THE OTHER THREE WHEELS/TIRES AND FOUND THAT THE VALVE STEMS ARE HELD IN PLACE BY A LOCKING NUT/SLEEVE THAT WAS FAILING DO TO CORROSION. THE NUT/SLEEVE IS ALUMINUM AND THE CORROSION IS CAUSING THEM TO CRACK LENGTHWISE AND DETACH FROM THE VALVE STEM. THREE OF THE FOUR ARE CRACKED AND ONE IS ONLY HELD IN BY HALF OF THE NUT/SLEEVE! INFINITY WANTS ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO AN INFINITY DEALER AND HAVE IT "DIAGNOSED" AND THEN PUT TO AN INFINITY "COMMITTEE" TO SEE IF MAYBE THEY WILL REPLACE AND REPAIR THE FAULTY PARTS, BUT NO GUARANTEE THAT WOULD HAPPEN. THE NEAREST INFINITY FACILITY IS ABOUT 90 MI. FROM MY LOCATION. THEY SAY THAT IT'S MY PROBLEM TO GET IT THERE. I WILL NOT DRIVE THIS CAR IN THE CONDITION IT IS IN! LUCKILY, I WAS ON A LOCAL ROAD AND DOING ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED! AND THE FACT THAT IT WAS A REAR WHEEL/TIRE! I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND MULTIPLE SITES ON HOW THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH INFINITY CARS WITH THIS TYPE OF (TPMS) VALVE STEM. THEY EVEN HAVE A VOLUNTARY RECALL ON SOME MODELS, BUT NOT MINE. THEY ARE ONE IN THE SAME. I FIND THIS AS BIG A SAFETY ISSUE AS GM'S IGNITION KEY PROBLEM! *TR
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2009-11-02
- VIN: JNKAJ09E09M
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: I PURCHASED 2009 INFINITI EX 35 ONE MONTH AGO(SEPTEMBER 30, 2009). THERE IS A "PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT. ACCORDING TO INFINITI SERVICE CENTER NEARBY, IT IS DESIGNED TO DETECT CHILD OR SMALL ADULT WHO IS LESS THAN 100 POUNDS SEATING ON PASSENGER SIDE AND PREVENT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING IN ACCIDENT. THEY SAID FOR CHILDREN OR SMALL ADULT LESS THAN 100 POUNDS, IT IS BETTER TO HAVE NO AIRBAG ON CRASH BECAUSE IT WILL CAUSE MORE HARM THAN GOOD. HERE IS THE PROBLEM. MY WIFE IS 130 POUNDS, 5.80 FT TALL (NOT A SMALL ADULT OR CHILDREN SIZE). WHEN SHE SITS IN PASSENGER SIDE, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT TURNS ON AND OFF AND ON AND OFF DURING A SINGLE TRIP. THE SERVICE MANAGER IS SAYING THAT BECAUSE SHE IS IN BORDER LINE OF WEIGHT LIMIT, IF SHE MOVES WHILE SEATING, IT CAN HAPPEN. MY WIFE AND I CLOSELY OBSERVED THE LIGHT AND THE LIGHT TURNS ON AND OFF EVEN THOUGH SHE IS SEATING STILL PERFECTLY(NOT MOVING AT ALL). THE SERVICE CENTER CHECKED THE SENSOR OF PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND TOLD ME THAT IT IS WORKING PROPERLY. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND SIMILAR PROBLEMS TO OTHER CUSTOMERS. ALSO THERE WAS 200,000 CARS RECALLED ON OCTOBER 2008 FOR 2008 INFINITI EX35 AND OTHER MODELS DUE TO SIMILAR PROBLEMS. I ASKED IF MY 2009 WAS IN RECALL BUT THEY SAID NO. I FOUND OUT THAT FOR 2010 INFINITI EX35 MODEL, THEY ADDED "PASSENGER AIR BAG ON/OFF SWITCH" BECAUSE OF CASES LIKE MINE. WHAT CAN I DO? IS IT POSSIBLE TO RETURN MY CAR BECAUSE IT'S BEEN ONLY ONE MONTH? OR EXCHANGE MY CAR TO 2010 MODEL? PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I CAN DO. MY WIFE AND I ARE VERY CONCERNED WHEN WE ARE ON FREEWAY, DRIVING MORE THAN 65 MPH AND THE "PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT TURNS ON INDICATING THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY DURING CRASH. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND SUPPORT. *TR

I love driving this car! It's both luxurious and fun, which is exactly what I was looking for. My old GTI was too low and dangerous for the mountains of Colorado in the winter, so I needed something that I could drive all year round without getting beat up on longer drives. I tried a similar year FX, but was sadly disappointed. The EX, on the other hand, felt quicker and easier to change directions with. It also handled bumps in the road much better. In comparison, the same year BMW X3 felt slow and harsher over the bumps. As a single person, I don't need to worry about back seat room, so leaving the rear seats folded down is not an issue for me. Although I haven't tested it in winter conditions yet, I'm confident that it will handle well. The EX3 is great on the highway when I want to pass another car as it accelerates really well. The only downside is that there's a slight lag before the power comes on, but it's reasonable. Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase and have had no problems with it in the 9 months that I've owned it. Even after 3 years, it's still going strong with no issues. I eventually sold it to my neighbor after 4 1/2 years and it's still running smoothly. Although I bought a 2017 Q50 with a new 3L twin turbo, I still miss the EX35's size and ground clearance.

This car is perfect for my family! My wife, our 4-month-old baby, and I are all in love with it. The interior is absolutely stunning, especially considering the price range. The exterior design is so eye-catching that it turns heads everywhere we go. The automatic fold-down seats are a really cool feature, and all the other interior add-ons make the ride so enjoyable. The only downside is that the MPG isn't great in the city or in stop-and-go traffic, and the cargo room is a bit small. We can only fit our full-size Stokke stroller in the cargo space, and groceries have to be placed around it. However, the engine runs great and is powerful off the line, and the car handles beautifully at highway speeds and around curves.

I've had 3 Maximas in a row and was looking for a crossover with 4-wheel drive. I test drove several models including BMW, Lexus, Acura, and the EX35. As soon as I drove the EX35, I fell in love with it. I ended up getting a fully loaded one. I was a bit unsure about which gas to use, but my dealer recommended the middle-priced gas. However, I've also read that some of you are using regular unleaded gas. Another feature I love is the iPod connection, which makes it so easy to listen to my favorite music.

If you're an SUV owner considering purchasing this vehicle, you may need to rethink your definition. While it is higher off the ground and has room in the back, this car is better suited for the symphony than the woods. However, I recently purchased one and it's the most luxurious ride I've ever had. It's incredibly comfortable, technologically advanced, and handles like a dream! The car is also very user-friendly, and although I initially thought it might be too elegant for me, I quickly got over that. While the back seat isn't the largest, it's still comfortable. The premium and navigation packages were definitely worth it. The city gas mileage is 18.5 mpg, which isn't bad. Great job, Infiniti!

Beautiful crossover with lots of power and a smooth 5-speed automatic transmission. The 2008 Infiniti EX35 is the first car I have ever driven that is great on gas, has lots of passing power, and strong torque. I absolutely love it and believe it is worth owning.

The high-pitch noise every time the car starts and accelerates is the biggest complaint I have for this car. According to online forums, this is a pretty common problem. Unfortunately, Infiniti hasn't fixed it yet and not one of the service mechanics have heard it. I like to drive without the radio, but that's not a possibility because of the noise. I am considering trading in this car for the 2009 Buick Enclave.

I bought my ex35 when it first came out, assuming that being an Infiniti, it would be a reliable car. Unfortunately, I've had several recalls on the car and it has proven to be quite unreliable. The dealership, Southwest Infiniti, has even wrecked it twice. With only 19,000 miles on it, the rear brakes have already gone out and the rotors have been refaced twice, but the dealership won't cover it under warranty. Additionally, the motor in the mirror for the tilt down option has broken and the power steering column has gone out. I even had to replace the battery when it was only 6 months old. Needless to say, I'm extremely disappointed with my experience and I don't think I'll be purchasing another Infiniti. It's supposed to be a luxury brand, but it feels more like a Nissan. Save yourself the time and headaches!

The car drives through snow and has good handling. However, it does have some drawbacks. It gets poor mileage, the plastic siding on the doors may start to fall off, and the keys may lose their programming. Unfortunately, there is no backup way to start the car. While the non-core features may not be the best, the car is still a reliable mode of transportation.

I purchased my EX35 about a year ago and got a great deal on it! Although I was excited to have the name 'Infiniti' associated with my car, I have unfortunately experienced some issues with its reliability. It has left me stranded twice now, and despite having the battery replaced once, the dealer is still unsure of what is causing the issue. As a parent, it's concerning to be stranded with a little one. My previous car, a Honda, never gave me any issues in the 6 years I owned it. While I am disappointed with the reliability of this car, I am grateful for the low price I paid for it.

I purchased an Infiniti EX35 in June 2008, but unfortunately, I have not been satisfied with the car. The brakes start creaking just 5 days after each service, and I have had to pay for brake pads multiple times on recommendations. Additionally, the outer side-view mirrors creak each time I put the car into reverse, and the sun-roof vibrates continuously. Despite the money spent and the car's supposed reliability, I have been left feeling disappointed. I believe that Infiniti could do a better job.
