2015 Chevrolet Express problems

The Chevrolet Express (also known as the GMC Savana) is a series of full-size vans produced by General Motors since 1996. The successor to the Chevrolet G-series van, the Express is produced in passenger and cargo variants. Alongside the standard van body, the line is offered as a cutaway van chassis; the latter vehicle is a chassis cab variant developed for commercial-grade applications, including ambulances, buses, motorhomes, and small trucks.
In production for a single generation since 1995, over 2.5 million examples of the Express and the Savana have been produced. One of the longest-produced designs in American automotive history, the Express/Savana are rivaled only by the Jeep Wagoneer and Dodge Ram Van for longevity.
Since 1995, General Motors has assembled the Express and Savana at its Wentzville Assembly facility (Wentzville, Missouri). Also, since 2017, GM has sourced commercial cutaway-chassis production from Navistar through its Springfield Assembly Plant (Springfield, Ohio).

Common 2015 Chevrolet Express problems
Based on complaints from owners of the Chevrolet Express 2015, several common problems have been reported:
- Fuel Level Sensor Failure:
- This issue involves the fuel tank incorrectly reading the fuel level. Owners often find that the fuel level sensor fails, leading to inaccurate readings. The recommended solution is to replace the entire fuel pump module, which can cost between $600 to $1000.
- Intake Manifold Gasket Leak:
- The intake manifold gasket may develop leaks, causing coolant or engine oil to leak externally. In some cases, an internal coolant leak may occur, leading to coolant mixing with engine oil. Running the engine with this issue can result in engine damage. The recommended fix is to replace the intake manifold gasket, with repair costs averaging around $500.
- Coolant Leak and Engine Overheating:
- A coolant leak originating from the water pump can lead to engine overheating. To address this problem, the water pump needs replacement, which typically costs between $300 to $550.
- Damaged Front Electrical Components:
- Excessive water usage, such as hosing down the rear cargo mat, can damage various electrical components located under the front carpet or rubber mat. Owners should be cautious about water exposure to prevent damage to these components.
These common issues reported by Chevrolet Express 2015 owners highlight the importance of regular maintenance and prompt repairs to ensure the vehicle's optimal performance and longevity.

- Consequence: High electrical resistance can increase the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver side window switch, free of charge. The recall began August 10, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18155.

The van has been awesome for a family. Ours was a Waldoch conversion. The ride was great and super easy for long drives. Although we did experience some mechanical issues, such as the transmission going out at 105,000 miles and the airbag and engine lights being issues at 37,000 miles, we unfortunately had no warranty. Overall, we still highly recommend this van for its comfort and convenience on family trips.

I purchased this van for work and pleasure, and it has turned out to be my everyday driver. I absolutely love it! My favorite thing about this van is the amazing fuel economy. Even with the 5.3 vortec and loaded with about a thousand pounds, I get 20-22 mpg rolling down the highway at 75-85 mph. You just can't beat it. Plus, it's very comfortable and surprisingly easy to park.

We chose the Chevy van because it can comfortably seat 11-12 people and has great towing power, all at a reasonable price. After renting and comparing several vans for long distance trips, we found that the Dodge Sprinter was twice as expensive and didn't meet our needs. While we are happy with our Ford vehicles, the Ford Van didn't handle as well or feel as safe as the Chevy. The Chevy has a much more stable ride and spacious interior. Overall, we preferred the Chevy and decided to purchase one. Additionally, the Chevy has ample space behind the rear bench for luggage. We are averaging 12.3 MPG with the 6.0 ltr engine and can tow anything we need to.

We were in search of a vehicle that could tow a trailer and accommodate 7 passengers. Unfortunately, most SUVs we looked at had a back seat that was difficult to access, similar to a 2-door car. On the other hand, small vans were not suitable for towing a trailer. After much consideration, we found that conversion vans were the perfect fit for our needs. It's an absolute pleasure to drive and tow with this vehicle, as it feels like the trailer isn't even there. The van has a lot of power, even on hills, and provides a smooth ride while handling like a smaller vehicle. Although we test drove the Ford, we found it to be nice, but it was hard to forget that we were driving a truck, and we couldn't get the 4th door. The gas mileage is not as bad as we initially feared, as we get 13mpg with the trailer, 19 on the open road, and 14/15 every day.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share that I bought this van used for my plumbing business and I'm really happy with it. The AWD is incredible in the snow, even better than any of the 4x4 trucks I've had in the past. It rides great, gets decent gas mileage at 14-15 MPG, and drives really nicely. The only thing I wish is that it came in an extended version. Thanks for listening!

It seems like GM could improve their MPG ratings. I've been getting around 15 MPG with no cargo and 12 MPG with 8000 GVW. Additionally, the split outside mirrors can be quite bothersome and take some getting used to. The plastic door panels clip in place and can sometimes pop out, causing the clips to break off. However, I have found that at times it can be difficult to see the driver info display due to the steering wheel. Overall, it's been a bit of a learning curve, but I'm still enjoying my vehicle.

Hi there! I borrowed this vehicle for my growing family and unfortunately, it didn't quite meet our needs. Within just 5 minutes, we noticed that the kids had to duck under seat belts to get to the 3rd row and there were no headrests for the back rows. Additionally, we felt every bump in the road. It's a shame that the engineers didn't think this through more thoroughly. We're now saving up for a Mercedes Benz Sprinter which we hope will be a better fit for us!

We bought the van because we outgrew our Grand Caravan, and we absolutely love the fact that we can tow anything we want. I've only owned it for three months, but I already love the room and power it provides.

Our family van is our second express. The first one was a 1999 12-passenger van, and the current one is a 2011 15-passenger van. We have no reason to sell it other than the fact that it's a little old to take on cross-country trips. It's great for local trips to Lowe's with the seats out or to a family event with all or some of the seats back in. We drive it every day, but we don't want to pay the sticker price of a new one, especially since they haven't really changed over the years.

While the engine and transmission of these vehicles are superior to those of Fords, the rest of the vehicle falls short. The old 1975-1992 Econoline has more room, feels better, drives better, handles better, and has a more solid body. The interior of the Express is uncomfortable and made of hard plastic that creaks and feels like it might break. The front seating is cramped and less roomy than Ford's. The ride is not very smooth and can be a bit rough. The sliding door rattles and shakes when closed gently. All doors, controls, seats, and dash feel cheaper compared to Ford. However, we understand that everyone has different preferences and priorities when it comes to choosing a vehicle.
