2015 Chevrolet Express problems

The Chevrolet Express (also known as the GMC Savana) is a series of full-size vans produced by General Motors since 1996. The successor to the Chevrolet G-series van, the Express is produced in passenger and cargo variants. Alongside the standard van body, the line is offered as a cutaway van chassis; the latter vehicle is a chassis cab variant developed for commercial-grade applications, including ambulances, buses, motorhomes, and small trucks.
In production for a single generation since 1995, over 2.5 million examples of the Express and the Savana have been produced. One of the longest-produced designs in American automotive history, the Express/Savana are rivaled only by the Jeep Wagoneer and Dodge Ram Van for longevity.
Since 1995, General Motors has assembled the Express and Savana at its Wentzville Assembly facility (Wentzville, Missouri). Also, since 2017, GM has sourced commercial cutaway-chassis production from Navistar through its Springfield Assembly Plant (Springfield, Ohio).

Common 2015 Chevrolet Express problems
Based on complaints from owners of the Chevrolet Express 2015, several common problems have been reported:
- Fuel Level Sensor Failure:
- This issue involves the fuel tank incorrectly reading the fuel level. Owners often find that the fuel level sensor fails, leading to inaccurate readings. The recommended solution is to replace the entire fuel pump module, which can cost between $600 to $1000.
- Intake Manifold Gasket Leak:
- The intake manifold gasket may develop leaks, causing coolant or engine oil to leak externally. In some cases, an internal coolant leak may occur, leading to coolant mixing with engine oil. Running the engine with this issue can result in engine damage. The recommended fix is to replace the intake manifold gasket, with repair costs averaging around $500.
- Coolant Leak and Engine Overheating:
- A coolant leak originating from the water pump can lead to engine overheating. To address this problem, the water pump needs replacement, which typically costs between $300 to $550.
- Damaged Front Electrical Components:
- Excessive water usage, such as hosing down the rear cargo mat, can damage various electrical components located under the front carpet or rubber mat. Owners should be cautious about water exposure to prevent damage to these components.
These common issues reported by Chevrolet Express 2015 owners highlight the importance of regular maintenance and prompt repairs to ensure the vehicle's optimal performance and longevity.

- Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
- Components: VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vehicles equipped with power windows. Liquid may leak into the driver's power window switch and cause corrosion, resulting in high electrical resistance.
- Consequence: High electrical resistance can increase the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver side window switch, free of charge. The recall began August 10, 2018. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18155.

This is a 2015 Chevy Express LT 2500 van that I got in July 2017. It's the 12 passenger model with the 6.0 liter engine. I bought it to haul my dogs around to shows and performance events. The interior is nice and the multiple rear AC vents are great for keeping the dogs cool. The exterior is in great shape and it looks good going down the road. It drives very easily (of course, I'm downsizing from a Dodge B3500 so pretty much anything drives better). I've made several short trips and I'm really satisfied with it. Update, August 2019: Now that I've used it on long trips and to haul a utility trailer, I can say that everything works great. The trips were easy and it handled the hauling with ease. I barely knew the trailer was there. Other than standard maintenance, I haven't needed any repair work. I'm very happy with this vehicle. Update, February 2020: With over 75K miles, it's still going strong with no issues. The paint job looks great and there are no body issues. All systems are working fine. Update, August 2021: With over 100K miles, everything is still working great. I had to have a relay switch for the power windows replaced and that was it.

I used to be a die-hard Honda fan, believing that Honda had the most reliable and fuel-efficient vehicles in the US. Over the course of 20 years, I purchased 9 new Honda and Acura cars, ranging from Accord to Civic to CRV to Pilot to Odyssey. However, since owning a Chevy Express 2500 (Explorer conversion w/ high top roof), I am not so sure if Honda really is the best. I must admit, when it comes to a big car, GM still reigns supreme. (After all, a little 30mpg Civic isn't for everyone - some of us have no other option.) The Express gets 16-17 MPG @ 75MPH, even when it's overloaded with 7 adults and tons of luggage. If I did the same with the Odyssey, it would only get 20MPG, and there would barely be any room left to breathe.

This is actually my second Express van and I must say, I'm really happy with it. I have the 12 passenger van which is just the right size for me. The 08 model has been given many upgrades over older models, which is great. The seats can easily be removed, and you can almost put your whole house in there! My previous Express van was trouble free and I'm happy to say that my 08 came with no defects, so it's off to a good start.

I purchased this van second-hand for my family of nine, and it has been through a lot. From hockey practice to basketball games, park runs, and everything in between, we practically live in this vehicle. Despite having driven it for 413k miles, the engine and powertrain have been flawless. Apart from replacing the shocks, brake pads, and a brake booster, as well as the usual maintenance items like tires, oil, and windshield wipers, we haven't had any major issues. However, the paint on our classic Chevy white van started peeling off one day, leaving us looking a bit unkempt. Although it doesn't seem to rust, the van's appearance has suffered. We're also tough on the interior, and the seats have seen better days. On the bright side, there's plenty of room for six car seats with extra space in between. Would I buy this van again? Absolutely! If I had the chance, I would choose a paint color that doesn't peel off (although finding one that isn't white might be a challenge).

This is a great vehicle for families and offers good value when compared to a Suburban. Even with the 4.3L V6, it performs well, although the available V8 would probably be even better. The locking rear axle makes winter driving very manageable, and the optional 4-wheel disk brakes are a welcome addition to stop this 5300lb truck.

I really appreciate the design of the van, especially the exterior look and the rear doors with hinges that are designed to maximize access and storage. However, I am sorry to hear that you have had some issues with reliability. It sounds like you have had to replace the fuel pump ($600), the water pump, and one of the side windows fell out ($1000). I understand that the mechanic at the Kingman AZ dealership told you that there is a design flaw in the fuel pump which manifests itself primarily in higher elevation, hotter climates, and that Chevy knows about it but won't replace them. It must have been frustrating to have to make all these repairs while the vehicle had less than 75,000 miles.

I bought the van slightly used instead of a 2008 Dodge Sprinter. I saved over $25000, which can pay for years of fuel, and I am happy to support an American-made product. My family and I are thrilled with the van! The fuel economy is better than expected (approximately 16.5 MPG on the highway). The only downside is the quality and fit of the plastic trim inside the vehicle.

As a father of four, my family and I love to travel, sometimes on really long trips. Most of the time, we travel in our Dodge Ram 3500 while towing a toy hauler. However, when we're not towing our trailer, we drive our Town and Country, which is by far the roomiest and most comfortable minivan that I know of. Last weekend, I had the opportunity to drive an Express van when we had 11 soldiers going up for training. At first, I was very impressed with the interior and the location of the switches, etc. However, as soon as I tried to speed up to enter the freeway, I realized how underpowered it was. It reminded me of my old Tahoe, mostly engine noise but no speed or power. The wind noise was pretty bad, and I couldn't concentrate as the noise was so loud it was hurting my ears. Some of the buttons, especially the ones on the left side of the dash, are just not ergonomic. The steering was hard after a four-hour drive, but the turning radius is okay, so I have no complaints there. On the way back, I was too tired to drive, so I ended up switching seats with someone else. I ended up sitting in the second-row seats, which was a big mistake. I should have just sucked it up and continued driving. The back seats are just so uncomfortable that I wanted to open the doors and jump out.

It seems like GM could improve their MPG ratings. I've been getting around 15 MPG with no cargo and 12 MPG with 8000 GVW. Additionally, the split outside mirrors can be quite bothersome and take some getting used to. The plastic door panels clip in place and can sometimes pop out, causing the clips to break off. However, I have found that at times it can be difficult to see the driver info display due to the steering wheel. Overall, it's been a bit of a learning curve, but I'm still enjoying my vehicle.

Hi there! I borrowed this vehicle for my growing family and unfortunately, it didn't quite meet our needs. Within just 5 minutes, we noticed that the kids had to duck under seat belts to get to the 3rd row and there were no headrests for the back rows. Additionally, we felt every bump in the road. It's a shame that the engineers didn't think this through more thoroughly. We're now saving up for a Mercedes Benz Sprinter which we hope will be a better fit for us!
