The Cadillac SRX is a mid-size luxury SUV and compact luxury crossover SUV (CUV) manufactured and marketed by Cadillac over two generations: the first generation as a five-door, three-row, seven-passenger CUV (2003–2009), and the second generation as a five-door, two-row, five-passenger CUV (2010–2016) – the latter becoming Cadillac's best selling model in the United States.
First generation (2004)
Engine options included the 255 hp (190 kW) High-Feature V6 and the 4.6 L 320 hp (239 kW) Northstar V8. It was based on the GM Sigma platform and came with a five or six-speed automatic transmission; rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive and MagneRide were available. As a Sigma platform vehicle, the first generation SRX had a longitudinally mounted front engine, longitudinal transmission mounted behind the engine, and a rear drive differential. The AWD option was implemented with a transfer case mounted to the rear of the transmission, with a propeller shaft forward to a front differential to power the front wheels.
An all-leather interior and curtain side airbags were standard in both models. Heated front seats and wood interior trim were standard in the V8 and available as options in the V6. DVD, sunroof, navigation system, and a power foldable third-row seat were all available options. However the third row was no longer available for the 2010 model year on the SRX.
The base price was US$38,880 for the V6 and US$45,880 for the V8 version.
The SRX won Car and Driver's Five Best Trucks "luxury SUV" award for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2004.
The first generation SRX never had the V Series performance model available.

Dealership said it is a problem that they have had with the SRX and have replaced so many 'headlight assembly's' that they now carry them in stock. Since you can't drive with the high beams on in traffic I feel this is a failure of the model and can only be fixed by replacement...quote of $1750.00.

- Summary: The first things to go were the headlights, rearview camera & the seatbelt wouldn't fully retract. Then ALL the dash warning lights flashed like a Christmas tree; the radio, heat & AC settings changed on their own; & the navigation screen scrambled into pixels like a crashed computer screen! These issues went on sporadically for months. I was convinced the vehicle was possessed. It seemed things would act up when it rained, was damp or humid. After spending thousands, things got worse. My windows, sun roof & hatchback opened on their own & wouldn't close. I'd have to pull over, turn off the engine, wait a while & restart it like a reset, which was rarely successful the first time. I haven't opened my sunroof in over a year. I mentioned all of the above to the dealership mechanics during regular maintenance & repairs but they could never find the source of the problem, did what they could & said this model was notorious for having electrical issues. Then for weeks, I'd find my hatchback open every morning. I'd close it. Minutes later, it would open again & again & again. I stood there in disbelief. This became a neighborhood joke & was happening even more than I realized because my neighbors had been closing it whenever they saw it open. They thought the vehicle was possessed, as well. After the hatchback, they replaced the module. Shortly after that, I found a puddle on the driver's side floor. I didn't notice it right away because of the winter weather. I removed the floor mats to clean them & saw the puddle. Whatever they did must have rerouted the water & while sitting in the vehicle during a storm, I found one, which I filmed. The warning lights started again, but I don't want to spend thousands more on this vehicle. According to Carvana, it's only worth ~$2000. I've read that the sunroof leak is prevalent in the 2010 SRX & other models. Is there anything you can do?

- Summary: Hello, I wanted to let you all know that I have a 2010 cadillac srx, to which in the past these type of vehicles had had a transmissions issues, thus recalled...Well the vehicle I own, is doing and having the same transmission problem/issues...and Yet it is not under the Recall list...The Cadillac dealership, has my car and is wanting to open up the transmission and inspect it for almost 2 thousand dollars( i like on a dissability montly income) ..I had this same car diagnosed at 2 different auto shops , whom provided me with the folllowing 2 error codes P076 and p0700, which are the transmision control solenoid and the transmission control module...but back at the cadillac service dealership , here in amarillo tx...they want almos $6000 for a new transmission replacement or half of that for rebuilding the current one...When i strongly believe that my car is part of the same recall , being the same model and same similiar transmission issues

The dealer was contacted and stated that the headlight assemblies were out of stock. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 170,310.

Service Bulletin (PI0703B) was issued for numerous 2010 Cadillac SRX, unfortunately the recall wasn't issued for my vehicle (VIN). The service bulletin was for DTC c0407 with symptom code 64, the exact same code that was found with my vehicle.

On the affected vehicles, the jam nut in the rear suspension toe adjuster link may not be torqued to the proper specification. A loose toe adjuster link can cause the vehicle to sway or wander at highway speeds. A loose toe adjuster link may lead to thread damage and eventual failure. Failure of the toe adjuster link will cause an abrupt change in the vehicle's alignment.
- Consequence: Failure of the toe adjuster link could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the torque of the left and right rear toe link adjuster lock nuts, and replace the parts if there is evidence of damage or a loose link, free of charge. - Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as certain 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger seats. In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position.
- Consequence: If the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

I have owned my SRX Luxury model for about 2 months and I absolutely love it! The way it drives and looks is just amazing. I can't wait to get in my car and drive it every day! People ask me all the time what kind of car it is, and I'm always happy to tell them. It's definitely a head turner, especially since mine is red!

I absolutely fell in love with the car during my test drive! I didn't try out the sport mode until I got it home, but I'm happy to say that any concerns I had about pick up and the ability to pass on the highway have been eliminated. I decided to go with the luxury model without the nav system, and I'm so glad I did. Onstar downloads turn by turn navigation directly to the small screen on the steering wheel, and it also comes over your stereo system prior to a turn. How brilliant is that? While the pop up and rear view camera are nice, I'm glad I saved the $2400. The car also comes with rear and front parking assist without the camera and pop up. The interior is absolutely incredible and really makes the driving experience a dream. Overall, I think it's a great value for a luxury crossover!

After test driving many luxury SUVs, it's great to hear that you found this one to have the best and most comfortable interior you've ever owned. The power is more than adequate, especially with sport mode, and it's an outstanding long-range tourer that's both comfortable and luxurious. While it may not be a performance car, it still has adequate acceleration. If you're looking for a performance sedan, I would recommend purchasing a performance car like a CTSV or 5 series. However, if you're in the market for a luxury SUV with good AWD, good SUV handling, decent hauling potential, and comfort for four, this is a real value. I hope you're doing well! I noticed that you were looking for a small SUV that gets decent gas mileage and is suitable for snowy weather in Washington, DC. After some research, I found that the SRX and the Lexus were the best options for you. I ended up purchasing the SRX luxury edition without any extra bells and whistles, and I must say, I absolutely love it! The car rides like it's on rails and has all the features I need. Although it's more sporty than utilitarian, I can still fit quite a bit of stuff in it. Plus, it's a great bargain, costing +/- $5K less than any other car in its class. I got this car for my 17th birthday and I couldn't be more pleased! The BOSE sound system is tremendous and the sportiness keeps it young. It rides super smooth and I've never had a complaint about comfort. The price is outstanding for what all it has to offer and I'm honestly in shock at how convenient this car is. It's roomy, sporty, beautiful, and smooth... What more could you ask for?

Although my SRX has had some issues, I am confident in my mechanic's ability to keep it running smoothly. The oil burning and loud noise when turning in cold weather have been addressed, and the alternator has been replaced. While the #1 and #2 seat adjustment buttons are not currently functioning, I trust that my mechanic will be able to fix them in due time. I am grateful for their expertise and attention to detail in keeping my car in good condition.

I was considering purchasing the AWD version and even test drove one. I really liked the car, but unfortunately, the salesman informed me that a spare tire was not available. This left me feeling quite concerned and ultimately led me to decide against purchasing the SRX. In my area, not having a spare tire could have serious consequences. I hope that Cadillac will consider adding this important feature in the future.

I've had my 2010 for a few months now and overall, I'm pleased with it. While it may be a little weak, I still find it to be a great size - not too big or too small. Unfortunately, I have had a few issues with it, such as a sunroof issue, memory seat problem, and remote start problem, which is not what I would expect from Cadillac. Despite these setbacks, I still love this vehicle.
