As a Sigma platform vehicle, the first generation SRX had a longitudinally mounted front engine, longitudinal transmission mounted behind the engine, and a rear drive differential. The AWD option was implemented with a transfer case mounted to the rear of the transmission, with a propeller shaft forward to a front differential to power the front wheels.
An all-leather interior and curtain side airbags were standard in both models. Heated front seats and wood interior trim were standard in the V8 and available as options in the V6. DVD, sunroof, navigation system, and a power foldable third-row seat were all available options. However the third row was no longer available for the 2010 model year on the SRX.
The base price was US$38,880 for the V6 and US$45,880 for the V8 version.
The SRX won Car and Driver's Five Best Trucks "luxury SUV" award for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2004.

- Summary: My 2011 SRX has lost brake power 4 times in the past 2 years. I reported to GM as other owners had this complaint. I hit the brakes at low speed when going into a parking lot incline and lose my brake power. The brakes go to the floor and eventually the car stops. Thankfully no other car was near me as the car is hard to stop. I also slammed on my brakes around 25-30 mph as another car was coming head on in my lane. Once the collision was avoided I tried to stop at a red light. Again the brakes went to the floor without stopping the vehicle immediately. My auto mechanic test drove it everywhere to see if he could reproduce the issue, but could not . I contacted GM and they told me to take it to a dealership which I did. They could not find anything but bled the brake lines hoping this was the issue. It was not. I went over an inclined manhole on a side street going about 5-10 miles and afterwards the brakes were very soft. I read in the SRX cadillac forum that others that had the same issue said to try and pump the brakes. I did this and the brake power re- engaged. This is a scary safety issue as I am always wondering if my brakes will stop the car. I only have 80000 miles on this car and keep routine maintenance. I also have an issue with the condensation of the headlights that dims the lighting on the headlights. I had received a letter ( Court Settlement Claim) stating if I had an issue to bring it to a dealership and they would look at it. If it did have this issue the headlight company would pay for some repair. I didn’t go since my headlight issue didn’t start until later . When I contacted the dealership I was told that offer expired along with GM confirming this. It is extremely frustrating and scary to know other owners have the same complaints and GM doesn’t do any safety recalls. These 2 issues are a big safety issue and I pray it never causes an accident.

So, I took it to the Cadillac dealership to make sure and they told me that this car has never been service in a very long time. Dealership said he never saw anything like this, and dealership also said this car had problems before it got to me, I have been going back and forth with Carvana with no end sight. - Summary: The headlights on my 2011 Cadillac SRX4 (62,000 miles and garage kept from new until 2 years ago) started to fail in 2022. The passenger side failed in 2022 and had to be replaced at an out of pocket cost of $1,536.98. The driver's side failed on 1/15/2024 and it had to be replaced at an out of pocket cost of $2,046.70. I understand that there was not a recall on this problem but rather a reimbursement program. I was told by the Dealer that that program ended in 2020. I don't understand how a vehicle manufacturer, who has admitted that there was a problem with the sealant on their headlight, can just stop reimbursing owners. The best part is the replacements that I paid $3,583.68 for, still have bad sealant, and will go again eventually. My safety and the safety of other is put at risk because there is no warning light or anything indicate to the driver that your headlight has failed. The problem has been reproduced over and over and the Dealer/GM/Cadillac all have acknowledged the problem exists. My vehicle was inspected by the Cadillac Dealer (Smail Buick, GMC, Cadillac) and that's when I was informed that the reimbursement from Cadillac has ended. Please advise if there is any way to force Cadillac to reimburse these costs.

- Consequence: A loose toe link can separate and cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Owners are advised to not drive their vehicle if they experience certain Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) warnings or other issues, such as unusual steering behavior, while driving. Please see the Part 573 report for the full list of warnings. Dealers will replace the adjustable toe link with a non-adjustable one, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed August 6, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 25, 2021. - Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX vehicles manufactured April 14, 2009, to September 1, 2014, and 2011-2012 Saab 9-4X vehicles manufactured February 1, 2011, to September 13, 2011. On the affected vehicles, the jam nut in the rear suspension toe adjuster link may not be torqued to the proper specification. A loose toe adjuster link can cause the vehicle to sway or wander at highway speeds. A loose toe adjuster link may lead to thread damage and eventual failure. Failure of the toe adjuster link will cause an abrupt change in the vehicle's alignment.
- Consequence: Failure of the toe adjuster link could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the torque of the left and right rear toe link adjuster lock nuts, and replace the parts if there is evidence of damage or a loose link, free of charge. - Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as certain 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger seats. In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position.
- Consequence: If the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the height adjuster shoulder bolts, free of charge. The manufacturer distributed interim letters to owners on September 11, 2014. I owned a 2011 Luxury Model, which unfortunately got totaled by someone last month. However, I can confidently say that it was the best vehicle I have ever owned! Although the current prices of vehicles have increased significantly, I am still considering repurchasing another Cadillac. I did consider purchasing a used one, but with the amount the other person's insurance is giving me, it would have to have too many miles or too many owners. It's a shame that the accident wasn't my fault, but I am determined to find a solution that works for me.

After reading the Editor's review for both the 2010 and the 2011, I was initially hesitant to consider the SRX for my test drive models, despite liking its styling. I had previously owned Cadillacs that had quality issues, particularly during the difficult years of the four-six-eight cylinder and diesel engine models. However, upon reading positive consumer reviews for both the 2010 and 2011 models, I decided to take a test drive. To my pleasant surprise, I found the 2011 SRX luxury model to be a great fit for me. I want to thank the owners for their reviews, as they were right on the money.

The designers did an amazing job with the SRX! As someone who has always driven Sedan DeVilles or a DTS, I was a bit hesitant about this car, but it has exceeded my expectations! The fit and finish are perfect, and the Crystal Red color really makes it stand out. The ride and comfort are very similar to my previous DTS, which I loved. Plus, it has all the features I could want, including a top-notch Bose sound system. While I can't speak to its long-term reliability yet, I have high hopes based on its performance so far.

I've been a fan of German cars for a long time, but I recently decided to try something new. I purchased the SRX in September 2011 and have only driven 524 miles as of writing this. So far, I am quite happy with the SUV overall, although I do find the non-turbo V6 to be a bit sluggish for my taste. However, I can live with it. The fit and finish are very good, and the interior is beautiful. The SUV looks great overall, and I think choosing a Cadillac was a good decision. Maybe after driving 10,000 miles, I'll write another review. I hope I can still rave about it!

I've owned the car since new and it's been garage kept. Although it's primarily my wife's car to drive to work, we use my Dodge Durango for trips and to run errands as it's more comfortable and has far more storage than the Cadillac. Unfortunately, we've had to fix the A/C four times, replace both front bearings (within a month of each other), replace the radio, rear backup camera, and the rear hatch struts in the 100k miles we've driven it. Despite these issues, we plan to keep the car since it's paid for. However, when we do decide to replace it, we're considering other options such as the Lincoln Natalia or BMW X-5. Hi there! I recently purchased a used SRX Lux AWD with 110,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I experienced some discomfort due to the head restraint sticking forward and causing neck pain, as well as the brake pedal sticking higher than the gas pedal and causing knee pain. Additionally, I had some issues with the front wheel bearing and water getting into the headlight and passenger compartment. However, I was able to fix all of these problems myself! While the seats are a bit hard and the suspension is stiff, the engine seems to be in good condition and the ride is nice and quiet on the highway. I did experience some blind spots due to the large A and B pillars, but overall it's been a decent ride. The car does require a bit more RPM to keep up with traffic, but it's manageable. The temperature and vent controls are buttons, which can be a bit tricky to adjust, but I'm getting used to it. Lastly, I've noticed that the wheel bearings needed to be replaced again, which cost me $800 for two bearings. Despite these issues, I'm still enjoying my SRX and hope to continue driving it for a while!

After purchasing this car, I noticed that the cup holder was not very stable and caused spills. Additionally, packages tended to roll around in the back and the cargo net was not very convenient to use. Unfortunately, the car has been in the shop for a week due to damage upon arrival. While I am disappointed with the user-friendliness of the interior, I am hopeful that the issues will be resolved soon. As a long-time Lexus owner, I decided to try buying American, but this experience has been a letdown. I did have some difficulty getting in touch with the dealer for information, but I am optimistic that things will improve.

I recently purchased a 2011 Cadillac SRX with only 7500 miles on it. Unfortunately, I have had a few issues with the car, including the AC going out and needing to replace both axles, which cost me a total of $2000. Now, at 87000 miles, I am experiencing problems with the lifters or cam, which will cost me an additional $1200. Despite these expenses, I have taken good care of the car, keeping it in a garage and changing all fluids at the proper intervals. However, I must admit that I am disappointed with the quality of the vehicle, especially considering its price of $46000. The leather wears easily and the car makes noises, making it uncomfortable to drive. Overall, I have not had a great experience with this car. I am considering switching to a Mercedes-Benz, although my trusty E430 with 300000 miles just won't seem to die!
