As a Sigma platform vehicle, the first generation SRX had a longitudinally mounted front engine, longitudinal transmission mounted behind the engine, and a rear drive differential. The AWD option was implemented with a transfer case mounted to the rear of the transmission, with a propeller shaft forward to a front differential to power the front wheels.
An all-leather interior and curtain side airbags were standard in both models. Heated front seats and wood interior trim were standard in the V8 and available as options in the V6. DVD, sunroof, navigation system, and a power foldable third-row seat were all available options. However the third row was no longer available for the 2010 model year on the SRX.
The base price was US$38,880 for the V6 and US$45,880 for the V8 version.
The SRX won Car and Driver's Five Best Trucks "luxury SUV" award for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2004.
The first generation SRX never had the V Series performance model available.
The first generation SRX was available through the 2009 model year.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found the 2005-08 SRX worst in its class for driver fatalities with a death rate of 63 compared to its class average of 23.

Common 2014 Cadillac Srx problems
The Cadillac SRX, a compact luxury crossover produced by the American automaker, is well-known for its suspension problems. These issues are not exclusive to Cadillac but are common in air suspension systems as a whole. The air suspension system in the SRX is a complex system of interconnected parts, including ride height sensors, suspension control modules, air compressors, air supply lines, and air struts or air springs. If any one of these components fails, the entire system can suffer.
One of the most common problems with the Cadillac SRX's air suspension is the failure of the air struts or air springs. These components are prone to wear and tear due to their moving parts and the flexible materials used in their construction. Over time, the air springs may become scratched, punctured, or dry-rotted, leading to air leaks and a loss of ride height control. Replacing a single OEM air strut for the SRX can cost over $1,600, and if multiple struts fail, the cost can quickly escalate to over $6,000, not including other commonly worn-out parts like the air compressor and ride height sensors.
Another common problem with the Cadillac SRX's air suspension is excessive noise, such as squeaking or grinding. These noises may indicate a problem with the air suspension system, such as a failing air compressor or a leak in the air lines or struts. If left unaddressed, these issues can lead to more significant problems and potentially compromise the safety of the vehicle.
The Cadillac SRX's air suspension problems have been so prevalent that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has investigated some models of this Cadillac. However, these issues are not unique to the SRX and are a common problem with air suspensions as a whole.
To address these issues, some Cadillac SRX owners have opted for air suspension replacement kits that replace the complex air suspension system with durable steel shocks and coil springs. These kits are designed to bring the SRX back as close as possible to its original ride and are a more cost-effective solution than replacing the failing air suspension components.
In summary, the Cadillac SRX's air suspension system is prone to failure due to the nature of its complex components. While these issues are common in air suspension systems as a whole, they can be costly and potentially compromise the safety of the vehicle. Some SRX owners have opted for air suspension replacement kits to address these issues, providing a more cost-effective and reliable solution.

I was only able to drive the car 30 to 45 miles an hour to get home. I have not taken the car to the mechanic yet, but will do so when they open on Monday. I was in a heavily congested area with many cars passing me at great speeds. I connected a code reader to my automobile, and came up with the code P2138. After doing research, it is my understanding that General Motors knows of this problem and has not addressed it at this time. For that reason, I feel I should be reimbursed for mechanic parts and services to repair this problem.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-06-13
- VIN: 3GYFNGE32ES
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: I have a 2014 Cadillac SRX AWD. My passenger rear tire kept losing air. I looked it over a dozen times and never found anything wrong with it as to why it was losing air. I would put air in it and within 2-3 days, I needed to put air in it again. This went on for a few months at least. Then out of nowhere my driver rear tire started losing air and when that started my passenger tire was holding air. Again, I looked my tire over and no screws or anything. Same thing with my passenger rear, I would have to put air in it every couple days. Just 2 days ago I was putting air in my driver rear tire, I stopped for a minute to check to see how much PSI I still needed to go. It was at 30PSI so I had a little left to go then BAM my tire blew. It wasn't even close to where it needed to be. my fiancé took my tire off and it was badly worn from the inside. I hadn't had these tires for 2 years and they should have lasted another year or 2. My boyfriend told me it was because of the toe links rubbing on them and that I needed adjustable ones. I looked on this website for recalls and according to my VIN number I don't have any recalls even though there has been for these rear toe links for other 2010-2016 Cadillacs. I can't drive my car until this is fixed. I should not have to pay for this myself. What if my tire blew when I was driving down the road with my daughter? I would have lost control of the car. All 2010-2016 Cadillacs should get the toe links replaced with adjustable ones immediately.

STEERING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-05-11
- VIN: 3GYFNEE39ES
- Components: STEERING
- Summary: There was a recall on the toe links, but the dealer did not follow procedures. The toe link was replaced during a recall, but the mechanic never aligned the wheels. This should be standard process and should come free after the recall takes place. They never get back to me after a service request.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-14
- VIN: 3GYFNEE30ES
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: The headlights on Cadillac SRX are defective and Cadillac will not have a recall. The lights are so dim I have to drive with my brights on, which is dangerous to other drivers. If I do not use the high beams, I am not able to see what is on the side of the road at night. There could be a person, other vehicle, etc. Therefore an accident could occur or someone could be injured. Cadillac was assisting with repair costs but that ended a couple years ago and I did not know about it as I did not receive a letter. This is a known defect and many people have expressed concern (I found a forum discussion online regarding this issue). My dealer has quoted a price of $2131.39 to replace the headlight assembly. I would appreciate review of this safety issue with this vehicle.

If you're looking for great performance and modern technology, you've come to the right place! The Cadillac is truly the Cadillac of all vehicles.
-
I traded in my 2010 Equinox for this vehicle. So far, it's only 1.5 miles per gallon different from the 4-cylinder to this 6-cylinder AWD, and the ride is much better. I'm happy with this vehicle so far and hope that my positive experience continues. However, I did have an issue with the transmission after driving it for 3200 miles. Although I wasn't happy about it, Cadillac CPO vehicles and Cadillac did stand behind all repairs and took care of me with another vehicle to drive while the repairs were done. I now have the vehicle back and everything seems fine for now. I need to have it and drive it longer to regain my confidence with the vehicle.
-
You have a wonderful car! It's one of the best you've ever had. The dealer support for this car is exceptional and goes beyond anything you've experienced before. This makes owning it a breeze.
-
Great vehicle, with lots of technology that allows for a smooth and very comfortable driving experience.
-
Dealer support for the Cary Hendrick Cadillac dealer was outstanding. This was my first Cadillac and I was impressed with the sporty and stylish design of the SRX, both inside and out. The only drawback was the fuel economy, but overall it was an outstanding model.

Hi there! I noticed that the text mentions 'Blind spots & poor headlite visibility'. I wanted to suggest that we could improve the safety of our driving by addressing these issues. What do you think?
Hoyt Swift 2024-06-23
The view to the rear is not great, but the back up camera is a helpful feature. Turning right can be challenging, but the front seats could be more comfortable. My in-town gas mileage is below 15 mpg, which is not ideal. The on-board computer system is very fancy and has a lot of wow factor, but it can be difficult to learn and slow to respond. However, once I got accustomed to the CUE system, I found it easier to operate and even preferred it to the system in my Lexus RX. Unfortunately, the car does not have a spare tire, which makes me hesitant to take it out of town. While I have had some issues with Cadillac service, the safety features of the car are very good. I appreciate the seat shaker and the big triangles that pop up if there is cross traffic while reversing. Overall, I think the car looks better than the Lexus.
Osbaldo Boyer 2024-01-02
There are better options out there. While the Cadillac CUE may be disappointing, the BMW 650i and iDrive are far superior.
