The Cadillac SRX is a mid-size luxury SUV and compact luxury crossover SUV (CUV) manufactured and marketed by Cadillac over two generations: the first generation as a five-door, three-row, seven-passenger CUV (2003–2009), and the second generation as a five-door, two-row, five-passenger CUV (2010–2016) – the latter becoming Cadillac's best selling model in the United States.
First generation (2004)
Engine options included the 255 hp (190 kW) High-Feature V6 and the 4.6 L 320 hp (239 kW) Northstar V8. It was based on the GM Sigma platform and came with a five or six-speed automatic transmission; rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive and MagneRide were available. As a Sigma platform vehicle, the first generation SRX had a longitudinally mounted front engine, longitudinal transmission mounted behind the engine, and a rear drive differential. The AWD option was implemented with a transfer case mounted to the rear of the transmission, with a propeller shaft forward to a front differential to power the front wheels.
An all-leather interior and curtain side airbags were standard in both models. Heated front seats and wood interior trim were standard in the V8 and available as options in the V6. DVD, sunroof, navigation system, and a power foldable third-row seat were all available options. However the third row was no longer available for the 2010 model year on the SRX.
The base price was US$38,880 for the V6 and US$45,880 for the V8 version.
The SRX won Car and Driver's Five Best Trucks "luxury SUV" award for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2004.
The first generation SRX never had the V Series performance model available.
The first generation SRX was available through the 2009 model year.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found the 2005-08 SRX worst in its class for driver fatalities with a death rate of 63 compared to its class average of 23.

- Summary: To whom it may concern, I am writing this as a complaint on the rear toe link separation recall that was performed on our 2012 Cadillac SRX. We installed new tires on our SRX in August 2022 (Michelin Defender 235/55 R20) with a mileage of 108,452 just due to this being our sons car and wanted him to be safe on the road. In December of 2022 we had the recall performed at Lakeside Chevrolet in Rockwall Texas and the mileage was 110,893. Since the recall, we have been through 2 sets of tires on the back of this vehicle in less than 2 years with the outer edge of the tires being worn down to the cords. The car has 119,051 on it now. I am very angry as we tried to have the alignment performed and were told that these links that were installed can not be adjusted and will cost me another $650 to replace and another $130 for the alignment. The vehicle did not have any issues until we had the recall performed. We are now out $1404 for tires and $130 for an alignment that can’t be performed unless the links are replaced with adjustable units. My total to get this taken care of is over $2200 which was created by your recall parts. I would like to have someone reply to this email to let me know what can be done to take care of this situation.

The dealership told me that I could have the lights replaced, but it would cost around $200 per light. Driving this vehicle at night poses a risk and a safety hazard for me as the driver, as I cannot see the road as well as I should be able to. I often have to drive with my bright lights on to see properly. This is a real concern of mine and wanted to ask if there is anything that your organization can do to assist me with the issue. I really like this car! It's great in the snow with Eagle GT RESPONSEDGE tires, and it's very comfortable and fun to drive long distances. I'm sold on the GMC warranty, and the class and style are just fantastic. I'm very happy with my purchase, and I absolutely love the sunroof. I'm considering upgrading to a 2007 model for the improved dash, although the GPS might take some getting used to.

Purchased as a demo fully loaded (minus the navigation system and V8) and absolutely love the car. The magnetic ride control gives the car a performance/handling on par with BMW. The moonroof is great, especially when open on the long drive home from work. The only downside was the high cost of brake work after the service department failed to notice the wear. But all in all a great car and much better than the cheap, underpowered one released 2010.on the long drive home from work.

My 2004 SRX has had the power steering rack replaced three times in the past nine months, and there have been numerous electrical problems with the car, such as doors that won't stay shut while driving, a third row of seats that won't go down, and unexpected battery drainage that I have had to replace. Additionally, there have been constant engine leaks from transmission fluid and power steering. Unfortunately, the car has been in the shop more than I have driven it in the past two months. Despite these issues, I remain confident in my decision to never purchase another Cadillac product. It is clear that many other people have experienced similar problems with this year/make car. While dealing with Cadillac has been difficult, I am confident in my ability to find a more reliable vehicle in the future.

I wanted to do something nice for my wife, who had been driving Ford Explorer Sports for 12 years. I suggested we get her a different car and showed her a 2004 SRX. She fell in love with it immediately - it was a nice car, fully loaded, and we bought it. However, we soon discovered that it sometimes has trouble starting when it's warm, and my wife has been stranded several times. The car won't turn over, won't shut down the electrical system, and holds on to the key. I took it to my brother, who is a service director at Mercedes, and he referred me to a GM specialist. After several days of worrying about it, the GM specialist found some advice on the internet and removed the 7.5amp fuse for the security system. We had to take the car to the GM shop several more times, and spent over $1000 on repairs. Eventually, I traded it for a 2011 Cadillac SRX, which has been perfect in every way. I even met the person who bought the 2004 SRX from the Cadillac dealer I traded with, and she hasn't had any problems with it, except for an accident that caused about $5000 in damages. Since purchasing the 2011 SRX, we haven't had any issues with it.

I purchased this car in October 2013, but unfortunately, the motor blew just two weeks later. However, I was relieved to find out that GM covered the costs of replacing the motor. Since then, I have had to bring the car in for a few more repairs, including replacing the entire strut assembly and the wheel bearings. Although I was okay with those repairs, I did have to bring the car in again to have the water pump replaced. Despite only owning the car for six months, I am currently experiencing some issues that the service technicians are having trouble diagnosing. I had my oil changed on March 6th, but when I brought the car back in on April 23rd due to some strange behavior, I was surprised to find out that there was only one quart of oil in the car, despite having six quarts put in just a month and a half prior. Unfortunately, the technicians are still unsure of what is causing the issue. I am feeling quite unhappy about this situation.

I have owned my SRX for 1.5 years and purchased it brand new. Although I had no complaints initially, my recent experiences have been less than satisfactory. Despite taking my car in for repairs 5 times in the past 3 months, the dealer has only addressed my concerns on 3 occasions. The car has required a new catalytic converter, a replacement horn, a new battery (within a year), and there is a constant rattle when I accelerate or brake. As a luxury car owner, I am disappointed with the level of maintenance required. In comparison to my previous BMW and Mercedes vehicles, this has been a frustrating experience. I hope that GM can improve their quality control in the future.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my new purchase. While I was expecting a flawless car for the price of $55,000, unfortunately, I've encountered a few mechanical issues. However, the good news is that the issues were addressed and resolved by the dealership. When the car is not in the shop, it's awesome! It rides great, although it may not be the best touring car due to the uncomfortable rear seats. Overall, I'm still happy with my purchase and I hope this information helps you in your decision-making process.
