The Cadillac SRX is a mid-size luxury SUV and compact luxury crossover SUV (CUV) manufactured and marketed by Cadillac over two generations: the first generation as a five-door, three-row, seven-passenger CUV (2003–2009), and the second generation as a five-door, two-row, five-passenger CUV (2010–2016) – the latter becoming Cadillac's best selling model in the United States.
First generation (2004)
Engine options included the 255 hp (190 kW) High-Feature V6 and the 4.6 L 320 hp (239 kW) Northstar V8. It was based on the GM Sigma platform and came with a five or six-speed automatic transmission; rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive and MagneRide were available. As a Sigma platform vehicle, the first generation SRX had a longitudinally mounted front engine, longitudinal transmission mounted behind the engine, and a rear drive differential. The AWD option was implemented with a transfer case mounted to the rear of the transmission, with a propeller shaft forward to a front differential to power the front wheels.
An all-leather interior and curtain side airbags were standard in both models. Heated front seats and wood interior trim were standard in the V8 and available as options in the V6. DVD, sunroof, navigation system, and a power foldable third-row seat were all available options. However the third row was no longer available for the 2010 model year on the SRX.
The base price was US$38,880 for the V6 and US$45,880 for the V8 version.
The SRX won Car and Driver's Five Best Trucks "luxury SUV" award for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2004.
The first generation SRX never had the V Series performance model available.
The first generation SRX was available through the 2009 model year.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found the 2005-08 SRX worst in its class for driver fatalities with a death rate of 63 compared to its class average of 23.

I did inquire with GM and they said they did at one time reimburse owners to get headlights replaced but that offer expired Well there are people out there driving these Dangerous cars that were not notified of this. - Summary: To whom it may concern, I am writing this as a complaint on the rear toe link separation recall that was performed on our 2012 Cadillac SRX. We installed new tires on our SRX in August 2022 (Michelin Defender 235/55 R20) with a mileage of 108,452 just due to this being our sons car and wanted him to be safe on the road. In December of 2022 we had the recall performed at Lakeside Chevrolet in Rockwall Texas and the mileage was 110,893. Since the recall, we have been through 2 sets of tires on the back of this vehicle in less than 2 years with the outer edge of the tires being worn down to the cords. The car has 119,051 on it now. I am very angry as we tried to have the alignment performed and were told that these links that were installed can not be adjusted and will cost me another $650 to replace and another $130 for the alignment. The vehicle did not have any issues until we had the recall performed. We are now out $1404 for tires and $130 for an alignment that can’t be performed unless the links are replaced with adjustable units. My total to get this taken care of is over $2200 which was created by your recall parts. I would like to have someone reply to this email to let me know what can be done to take care of this situation.

The dealership told me that I could have the lights replaced, but it would cost around $200 per light. Driving this vehicle at night poses a risk and a safety hazard for me as the driver, as I cannot see the road as well as I should be able to. I often have to drive with my bright lights on to see properly. This is a real concern of mine and wanted to ask if there is anything that your organization can do to assist me with the issue. After leasing a 99 Eldo, I leased an '02 Subaru Outback Legacy (LL Bean edition). Both vehicles were upscale for their class and had many great features. I was looking for a quality used vehicle as I wanted to get away from premium fuel. I traded in my used '96 Seville for the SRX which runs on regular. It would have been a smart fuel move except for the poor mileage I am getting and rising fuel prices. However, I am very satisfied with this vehicle's handling and ride. I purchased it used as I am getting ready to retire and didn't want big payments. I do miss the comfort of the Eldo (I wish they still made them) and I didn't want a new vehicle with cheap seating. Overall, I am happy with my decision and enjoying my new ride!

Congratulations on your new SRX Luxury edition! It sounds like you made an excellent choice. The SRX beats out the competition with its regular gas usage, great gas mileage, and blissful ride. The elegant form, function, and finish of both the interior and exterior are truly impressive. The LED lights, 18 inch Michelins, self-leveling xenon headlights, turn signal in mirrors and side marker of car, and electric open rear hatch programmable to your garage height are all fantastic features. This is my first Cadillac. The ride is incredibly comfortable and it's very responsive and enjoyable to drive. While the Cadillac Cue system may require a bit of learning before being able to take advantage of all its functionality, it's definitely worth it. The seats could have a bit more padding, but overall, this car is amazing and I'm absolutely loving it!

The reliability and comfort of the Cadillac SRX are truly unbelievable. It feels like riding high in a truck, with the ability to pull, load, and haul like one, but with the smooth ride of a Cadillac. The safety features are also top-notch, making it a champ in terms of safety. While some have complained about the computer system interface, called 'HUE', being awkward and not user-friendly, it's just a matter of getting used to it and finding what works for you. Overall, I absolutely love everything about the SRX! When comparing it to the new XT5, I still prefer the looks of the SRX both inside and out. The only improvement I can see in the XT5 is the hidden rear window wiper under the spoiler, but that's something I could easily add to my 2016 SRX if it bothers me enough. From the moment I drove my 2016 SRX, I fell in love with it. It feels like home and I find myself coming up with reasons to drive it. I simply love it!

My dad owned a 2000 Seville DTS, which unfortunately had many issues with the ignition, door and window actuators, and more. However, it managed to clock 294,000 miles before my mum sold it after his passing. My mum also had a 1998 Seville STS, but she had to get rid of it due to electrical and door pin issues. Years later, I decided to buy myself a 2010 Cadillac SRX4. Unfortunately, just four days after purchasing the vehicle, there was a major rainstorm in S.E Michigan, and I found mini swimming pools in the passenger and driver side floors. I was devastated, but after researching on Google, I found out that all 228,000 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX vehicles had the same issue. In California, there is even a pending class action suit against GM and owners of these vehicles for this issue. Despite this, GM does not consider it a safety issue and has not issued a recall. After numerous visits to the dealer I bought the car from and threatening the lemon law (which, unfortunately, does not apply to used vehicles in Michigan unless they come with an expressed warranty at the time of sale), they finally fixed the roof leak for free. It turns out that GM was running behind in mid-2009 when they released the newly styled SRX, so they used the wrong parts and shipped out these vehicles to be sold. Over the years of road vibration, the parts came loose, and rainwater or any other type of water would fall inside the cabin instead of going through the drain pipes and falling on the road below the vehicle. GM does not consider a sunroof leak a safety issue, so there is no recall. However, they did fix the problem for the 2013-17 vehicles by redesigning the sunroof drain pipes.Now that winter has arrived, I have encountered a new issue - the check engine light comes on. However, the engine runs smoothly enough. Upon using my OBD2 tester, which I bought from Snapon many years ago, I found the code to be a P0017 code that comes up with 3 possible issues. It could be a loose timing chain (GM had a bad batch of timing chains for their 2009-13 vehicles) or 2 sensors. Fortunately, I took out the warranty at the time of buying this vehicle! So, they have to fix this new issue with a $100 deductible. Overall, it's a fun vehicle to drive. In the snow this year, my traction was a bit loose, probably because the front tires are on the balder side. With a Haldex Stage 3 AWD system, I should have awesome traction. The same Haldex system used on AUDI, BMW and VOLVO vehicles. Once all the issues are fixed, she would be terrific. After all, I do turn heads on that sunny day in Michigan when I roll past in my Black on Black Cadillac SRX4 3.0 Liter V6, for I am driving Cadillac Style. I think I'll try a Ford Explorer on my next venture. Thank you GM, your flagship vehicle needs a lot to be a true flagship in my book.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to bring to your attention that I've been hearing some thumping and swirling noises coming from the gas tank area. I've been informed that GM is currently working on a solution for this issue. Additionally, I've been experiencing some loud squeaking from the brakes, especially when in reverse. GM is aware of this problem as well and is working on a fix. It's definitely disappointing to have these issues with such an expensive car, but I'm hopeful that GM will be able to resolve them soon.

The electronics went out on this car in less than 17000 miles, which cost $1400 to replace. Additionally, the front seat is quite difficult to get in or out of without banging your head. Unfortunately, the ride is not as smooth as one would expect for a Cadillac. Overall, I would not purchase this car again.

Although my 2015 SRX initially brought me joy and pride, it unfortunately turned out to be a nightmare. The water damage from the sunroof was a huge issue, especially in rainy Oregon. Despite attempting to fix it myself with the help of a YouTube video, the problem persisted. Additionally, the display screen for the 'Queue' system splintered and was a nightmare to repair. Finally, the sunshade got stuck and the dealership was unable to reprogram it, resulting in the costly replacement of the motors for the sunshade and sunroof. After all these issues, I decided to purchase a Honda CR-V with the 'L' package, which is the #1 rated compact SUV in the world. Although I was disappointed with the quality issues of the SRX, I am confident in my decision to switch to a more reliable vehicle. I hope that Cadillac will take responsibility for the known sunroof leaking issues and improve their quality control in the future. Despite my negative experience, I am grateful for the opportunity to move on to a more dependable car. A class action lawsuit should be pursued in the near future, as the cost of ownership of this car has cost me thousands.

We purchased this vehicle brand new after experiencing issues with our 2009 SRX and its timing chain. We had it for 5 years and 2 months, drove 51000 miles, and unfortunately experienced some problems. The driver's seat stopped heating, the keys got locked in the car (which is not supposed to happen), and we received a service rear axle warning. Although these issues were out of warranty, we contacted a Cadillac dealer and Cadillac themselves. While we didn't receive the response we were hoping for, we found out that these issues are known problems. The axle issue also affects Buick and Corvette. Despite these problems, we found that the residual value of the vehicle was not great (as of 10/2019). However, we have since moved on from the vehicle and do not miss it!

However, I did some research before buying and noticed that snow driving was rated just below the Volvo. I think they must have been talking about the AWD, because my RWD has been a bit of a challenge in recent snow storms. Unfortunately, it has immobilized the vehicle a few times.
