The base price was US$38,880 for the V6 and US$45,880 for the V8 version.
The SRX won Car and Driver's Five Best Trucks "luxury SUV" award for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2004.
The first generation SRX never had the V Series performance model available.

Common Cadillac Srx problems
The Cadillac SRX is a midsize luxury crossover SUV produced by General Motors from 2004 to 2016. Despite its popularity, the SRX has faced several common problems that have affected its reliability and overall ownership experience.
One of the most common issues with the Cadillac SRX is the loose toe link, which has led to a recall of SRXs made between 2010 and 2016. A loose toe link can cause the vehicle to lose control and potentially lead to accidents. This issue can be dangerous, especially if not addressed promptly.
Another prevalent problem with the Cadillac SRX is water in the lights, particularly in the 2010 model year. This issue is often caused by a clogged sunroof drain, which can cause water to leak into the headlights and tail lights, leading to electrical problems and reduced visibility. The average cost to fix this issue is around $1,600, and it typically occurs at an average mileage of 80,000 miles.
The 2004 and 2010 to 2015 Cadillac SRX models have also been criticized for their sunroof malfunctioning, steering wheel position sensor failure, and CUE (Cadillac User Experience) system issues. These problems can lead to inconvenience, safety concerns, and additional repair costs.
Moreover, the Cadillac SRX has faced engine problems, including timing chain stretch and check engine light issues. The timing chain stretch can cause significant engine damage if not addressed promptly, while the check engine light can be triggered by various issues, including loose or worn gas caps and camshaft position sensor problems.
The Cadillac User Experience (CUE) system, which is the entertainment and information system in the SRX, has also been criticized for its buggy performance, including tablet lag, unresponsive buttons, and system crashes.
Lastly, the SRX has faced issues with headlight condensation, broken liftgate, and faulty front turn signals and DRL bulbs. These problems can lead to reduced visibility, inconvenience, and additional repair costs.
In summary, the Cadillac SRX has faced several common problems, including loose toe links, water in the lights, sunroof malfunctioning, steering wheel position sensor failure, engine problems, CUE system issues, headlight condensation, broken liftgate, and faulty front turn signals and DRL bulbs. These issues have affected the reliability and overall ownership experience of the SRX, and potential buyers should be aware of these problems before making a purchase decision.

- Summary: To whom it may concern, I am writing this as a complaint on the rear toe link separation recall that was performed on our 2012 Cadillac SRX. We installed new tires on our SRX in August 2022 (Michelin Defender 235/55 R20) with a mileage of 108,452 just due to this being our sons car and wanted him to be safe on the road. In December of 2022 we had the recall performed at Lakeside Chevrolet in Rockwall Texas and the mileage was 110,893. Since the recall, we have been through 2 sets of tires on the back of this vehicle in less than 2 years with the outer edge of the tires being worn down to the cords. The car has 119,051 on it now. I am very angry as we tried to have the alignment performed and were told that these links that were installed can not be adjusted and will cost me another $650 to replace and another $130 for the alignment. The vehicle did not have any issues until we had the recall performed. We are now out $1404 for tires and $130 for an alignment that can’t be performed unless the links are replaced with adjustable units. My total to get this taken care of is over $2200 which was created by your recall parts. I would like to have someone reply to this email to let me know what can be done to take care of this situation.

- Summary: The low beams on my 2014 Cadillac SRX are useless at night and dangerous. They are not bright enough to illuminate the road. The car cannot be driven at night unless using the high beams. The problem, as I understand it, is that the coating within the headlight assembly degrades over time due to heat. Hundreds of Cadillac owners have complained of this safety issue to Cadillac and the NHTSA, yet no recall has been issued, and dealerships charge $1800+ labor to fix a well-known defect that makes their cars unsafe.
Cadillac Srx 2016
- Date Of Incident: 2021-09-21
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-11
- VIN: 3GYFNBE30GS
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: Purchased a 2016 Cadillac SRX a few years ago as a used car. Noticed that the headlights were extremely dim. Brought it to a Cadillac dealership and asked them to investigate it. They mentioned that they had thought there was a recall at some point regarding the lights for these cars, but it may have expired. I checked with General Motors, and they did not find a recall for these headlights for the specific vehicle make/model. The dealership told me that I could have the lights replaced, but it would cost around $200 per light. Driving this vehicle at night poses a risk and a safety hazard for me as the driver, as I cannot see the road as well as I should be able to. I often have to drive with my bright lights on to see properly. This is a real concern of mine and wanted to ask if there is anything that your organization can do to assist me with the issue. Thank you.

While this model comes with a 50,000 mile warranty over 5 years which covers most things, I did experience some issues. Unfortunately, I needed to replace the tires at 30,000 miles, as well as 3 sets of wiper blades. Only the new battery was covered under the warranty. As a loyal Cadillac customer, I was disappointed that these issues were not covered. This is my fifth Cadillac, and I have come to expect a higher standard from this brand.

I recently traded in my 2005 Infiniti Q45 and 2004 Chevy Trailblazer for a Cadillac SRX. I was looking for a vehicle that had all the same features as my previous cars combined. The SRX is a great car for highway driving and holds the road well for a front wheel drive car. However, visibility can be an issue due to the small rear view mirror and side 'pillars' that can obscure your view. To compensate for this, the car has side mirrors that light up to warn you when a car is passing, and the defensive driving add-in is also helpful. My model even has a driver's seat that vibrates should you start to drift into another lane. On the highway, I have managed to get 24 mpg. The storage in the rear compartment is excellent, but unfortunately, there is no spare tire, just a can of stuff that you use to halt a leak/puncture as you then limp in for help. Although I have had a few problems with the power driver's seat, the dealer was able to replace it and now it works perfectly. The CUE system needs some major improvements as it is totally non-intuitive and apps cannot be added to it, which I believe is a big mistake. Additionally, the HD radio can drift, making it difficult to hold on to a station. Despite these issues, I still enjoy driving the SRX and think it's a great car. However, my wife finds it difficult to cope with the rearview mirror and prefers her Audi Q5. I have noticed some good tweaks in the new XT5, but I still think the SRX is a winner. As I take care of my cars, the SRX looks new and I can't come up with a good enough reason to trade it in for a new XT5. It's good that I like this car.

This vehicle with 24,000 miles on the odometer is an absolute joy to drive. Recently, I left the house just to enjoy the night driving experience. The lighted trim pieces that encircle the interior give off a soft glow, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. While some may complain about the low beams, I found a solution by installing 4000 lumen LED's which fixed the problem. I love the feeling of driving this vehicle, it's like driving a large sports car as I speed up rather than braking for the S turns. It's hard to believe that this is a Cadillac!

I'm so glad to hear that you found the perfect car for you! After test driving several different brands, it sounds like the SRX was the clear winner. It's great to hear that the ride is beautiful and that the interior is top-notch. It's also wonderful to hear that the rear seat leg room is better than any other car you test drove and that the vehicle is very comfortable all the way around, especially since you're 6 feet tall. While the extra seating in the cargo may not be useful for you, it's great that you have the option to use it if needed.

This car has the worst gas mileage I have ever experienced. However, the V8 engine is powerful and quiet, and the car feels heavy but handles well. The interior is comfortable, although the third row could be improved. Overall, this car has its pros and cons, but its performance is impressive.

I purchased this car with the expectation of a luxurious experience, but unfortunately, I have encountered numerous issues since its purchase in 2009. Despite proper maintenance, I have experienced frequent light burnouts, alignment issues, tire replacements, and worn bushings and brakes. Additionally, I have had to replace the catalytic converter, A/C unit, water pump, struts, spark plugs, and motor mount. Despite multiple attempts to diagnose the issue, my car continues to experience misfires and sputtering, with no clear solution in sight. I have spent a significant amount of money on repairs, but remain confident that a resolution will be found.

I recently purchased a used car and had to choose between a Lincoln SRX and a Cadillac SRX. While I do like the car, I have noticed that there are some issues such as oil, brake, and tire maintenance, as well as some noises coming from under the car. Additionally, it requires frequent refueling. Overall, I would caution against purchasing a used Cadillac as it may not be the best option for you.

You decide - I owned it for 30 days and it was in the shop for a full 10 days of that first 30. At 411 miles on the odometer, I parked it at the airport in covered parking while I went on vacation. When I returned 8 days later, 2 tires were low on PSI and 1 tire was fully flat. Unfortunately, the dealer was not very helpful. Everyone involved with the initial sale came by to give me a look and nod. I paid cash, owned it for 30 days, traded it in on a Cayenne S, and I can't believe the difference in Porsche quality.

We've owned this 2007 SRX AWD V-6 for about 4 years and it has been very reliable. We've only ever paid for routine maintenance. However, there are a few things you should be aware of. Firstly, the engine consumes several quarts of oil between changes. Secondly, the build integrity is fair-poor, as evidenced by numerous squeaks and rattles. Thirdly, the passenger foot-well is extremely narrow and uncomfortable. Lastly, fuel mileage is much lower than advertised, and we experience 15/20. After experiencing a rear wheel bearing failure, we sold the car. Unfortunately, the Cadillac dealership where we serviced the car did not provide any help when we were stranded at the side of the road. While I would not change the rating of the car's performance, I would caution a prospective Cadillac owner to be extra-diligent in assessing their dealership experience before buying any Cadillac product.
