The base price was US$38,880 for the V6 and US$45,880 for the V8 version.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found the 2005-08 SRX worst in its class for driver fatalities with a death rate of 63 compared to its class average of 23.

Common Cadillac Srx problems
The Cadillac SRX is a midsize luxury crossover SUV produced by General Motors from 2004 to 2016. Despite its popularity, the SRX has faced several common problems that have affected its reliability and overall ownership experience.
One of the most common issues with the Cadillac SRX is the loose toe link, which has led to a recall of SRXs made between 2010 and 2016. A loose toe link can cause the vehicle to lose control and potentially lead to accidents. This issue can be dangerous, especially if not addressed promptly.
Another prevalent problem with the Cadillac SRX is water in the lights, particularly in the 2010 model year. This issue is often caused by a clogged sunroof drain, which can cause water to leak into the headlights and tail lights, leading to electrical problems and reduced visibility. The average cost to fix this issue is around $1,600, and it typically occurs at an average mileage of 80,000 miles.
The 2004 and 2010 to 2015 Cadillac SRX models have also been criticized for their sunroof malfunctioning, steering wheel position sensor failure, and CUE (Cadillac User Experience) system issues. These problems can lead to inconvenience, safety concerns, and additional repair costs.
Moreover, the Cadillac SRX has faced engine problems, including timing chain stretch and check engine light issues. The timing chain stretch can cause significant engine damage if not addressed promptly, while the check engine light can be triggered by various issues, including loose or worn gas caps and camshaft position sensor problems.
The Cadillac User Experience (CUE) system, which is the entertainment and information system in the SRX, has also been criticized for its buggy performance, including tablet lag, unresponsive buttons, and system crashes.
Lastly, the SRX has faced issues with headlight condensation, broken liftgate, and faulty front turn signals and DRL bulbs. These problems can lead to reduced visibility, inconvenience, and additional repair costs.
In summary, the Cadillac SRX has faced several common problems, including loose toe links, water in the lights, sunroof malfunctioning, steering wheel position sensor failure, engine problems, CUE system issues, headlight condensation, broken liftgate, and faulty front turn signals and DRL bulbs. These issues have affected the reliability and overall ownership experience of the SRX, and potential buyers should be aware of these problems before making a purchase decision.

- Summary: To whom it may concern, I am writing this as a complaint on the rear toe link separation recall that was performed on our 2012 Cadillac SRX. We installed new tires on our SRX in August 2022 (Michelin Defender 235/55 R20) with a mileage of 108,452 just due to this being our sons car and wanted him to be safe on the road. In December of 2022 we had the recall performed at Lakeside Chevrolet in Rockwall Texas and the mileage was 110,893. Since the recall, we have been through 2 sets of tires on the back of this vehicle in less than 2 years with the outer edge of the tires being worn down to the cords. The car has 119,051 on it now. I am very angry as we tried to have the alignment performed and were told that these links that were installed can not be adjusted and will cost me another $650 to replace and another $130 for the alignment. The vehicle did not have any issues until we had the recall performed. We are now out $1404 for tires and $130 for an alignment that can’t be performed unless the links are replaced with adjustable units. My total to get this taken care of is over $2200 which was created by your recall parts. I would like to have someone reply to this email to let me know what can be done to take care of this situation.

- Summary: The low beams on my 2014 Cadillac SRX are useless at night and dangerous. They are not bright enough to illuminate the road. The car cannot be driven at night unless using the high beams. The problem, as I understand it, is that the coating within the headlight assembly degrades over time due to heat. Hundreds of Cadillac owners have complained of this safety issue to Cadillac and the NHTSA, yet no recall has been issued, and dealerships charge $1800+ labor to fix a well-known defect that makes their cars unsafe.
Cadillac Srx 2016
- Date Of Incident: 2021-09-21
- Date Complaint: 2024-09-11
- VIN: 3GYFNBE30GS
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING
- Summary: Purchased a 2016 Cadillac SRX a few years ago as a used car. Noticed that the headlights were extremely dim. Brought it to a Cadillac dealership and asked them to investigate it. They mentioned that they had thought there was a recall at some point regarding the lights for these cars, but it may have expired. I checked with General Motors, and they did not find a recall for these headlights for the specific vehicle make/model. The dealership told me that I could have the lights replaced, but it would cost around $200 per light. Driving this vehicle at night poses a risk and a safety hazard for me as the driver, as I cannot see the road as well as I should be able to. I often have to drive with my bright lights on to see properly. This is a real concern of mine and wanted to ask if there is anything that your organization can do to assist me with the issue. Thank you.

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with you. When I first got my car, I decided to make a stop at Costco. As I was driving in, a friendly guy motioned for me to roll down my window and complimented my car, saying, 'That's a really beautiful car.' And you know what? He was absolutely right! Ever since then, we've been loving it.

Vehicle year: 2012
With the exception of the recently changed tires, this car has been an absolute pleasure to own and drive. I specifically waited for the 2012 model to get the larger V6 with increased horsepower, and it has not disappointed. It is an extremely comfortable car to drive.

Vehicle year: 2010
I checked out a few different vehicles, such as the Highlander, Venza, Audi, Acura MDX, and Acadia. I'm still not entirely convinced that I made the best choice, but ultimately, I narrowed it down to the SRX and the Acadia. I really appreciate the space, utility, and styling of the Acadia, while the features and styling of the SRX really caught my eye. However, I did find that the SRX ride was a bit too stiff for my liking, and I could sense a bit of a power struggle with the weight of the vehicle. Additionally, the engine wasn't as quiet as I would have hoped at cold idle, and the seat adjustments were a bit difficult due to poor design. Lastly, if the sunroof is open while on the freeway, there is excessive noise, even more than my Ford F-350.

This is my first Cadillac. I used to think of it as a car for older people, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I love it. I have one child who plays hockey, and the SRX is the perfect size for comfortable road trips. The only downside is that I'm only getting 15 miles to the gallon with the V6 engine, but overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

I've been driving Ford Explorers for 16 years, and I've owned 4 different models. My dealer assumed I would buy another one, but thanks to my buying plan with MetLife, I was able to purchase the SRX at the same price I would have paid for another Explorer. Plus, Joe Bowman gave me a much higher trade-in value than Beach Ford or Colonial Cadillac would have. It was definitely worth the 250-mile trip to Harrisonburg to get the vehicle I wanted. The team there was incredibly friendly and easy to work with. When I arrived, all the paperwork was already completed, and after a quick explanation of how everything worked and a test drive, I was on my way back to Virginia Beach. I'm thrilled to own another Cadillac and couldn't be happier.

I had a bit of a mishap when a metal plate hit one of my rear tires, causing a flat. When I called for roadside assistance (RSA), they asked if my car came with a donut spare tire or a compressor repair kit. To my surprise, it came with the C-repair kit, which unfortunately made the situation a bit of a nightmare! RSA wasn't very helpful and a tow truck was going to take 1.5 hours to show up. After waiting for 4 hours, I decided to go home and leave the car in my workplace parking overnight. It's frustrating that the dealer didn't inform me that the car didn't come with a spare tire. This is ridiculous! I'm disappointed that such an expensive luxury car doesn't come with a spare tire. Today, I plan to speak to the dealer about this. Sorry for venting, I'm just really upset. :(

The car seems to shutter when driving slowly, and the dealer has informed me that it is a design characteristic. While they may call it a characteristic, I believe it to be a flaw. I have owned several cars in the past, and none of them have ever shuttered when turning the wheel. Well, I take that back, one of my previous cars did have this issue, but I was able to fix it by replacing the power steering unit. My 2004 CTS still drives like a dream to this day. Unfortunately, this new car I purchased is not up to industry standards, let alone exceeding them. As a Cadillac owner, I expect nothing but the best. I often park underground, and the car shuttering is becoming a real issue. I am disappointed that the dealer knew about the steering issue and still sold me the car. It seems like they were just trying to pawn it off on another customer. I am frustrated that the dealer is not willing to help me, and I may have to seek legal assistance. The transmission is also a problem. It revs too high, and when it shifts, it gives me whiplash. Overall, this car is underpowered and poorly designed. I believe it to be a lemon, but the dealer refuses to admit it. I would not recommend this make and model to anyone. If you are interested in a Cadillac, I suggest getting a CTS instead. The one nice thing about this car is the sound system. Period.

I have owned my 2011 SRX for over a year now and unfortunately, it has not met my expectations. While it has a small 260 hp engine, the car is quite heavy and can be cumbersome to drive. Coming from an Acura MDX, I miss the agility and spaciousness of my previous car. Additionally, I have experienced some transmission issues and the cargo space is quite limited. However, I do appreciate the electronic features of the SRX, particularly the navigation system and top-of-the-line stereo. Overall, while I am not completely satisfied with the car, I do find some positives in its features.

The 2015 'Luxury Collection' with 28K miles has some issues with the front end bottoming out on small bumps and the Cue system freezing up. Additionally, the navigation system requires an OnStar plan at $12 per month to use, which may not be ideal for some buyers. Overall, while the car has some drawbacks, it still offers a luxurious driving experience.

I have read many reviews regarding the SRX, nearly all of them positive. However, I have owned my 2006 for just over 2 years now and unfortunately, I have had to take it to the shop for major repairs multiple times. These include the panorama sun roof not closing, the wheel bearings needing to be replaced not once but twice, check engine light coming on for reasons the shop was unable to duplicate (of course!), electrical issues causing the engine to quit and the final straw-no compression to the engine, which required a tow to the dealership, a call to GM, and more than a week's worth of repairs. I am extremely disappointed with this car! Spending over $6000 in repairs in just 2 years is not acceptable.
