It was based on the GM Sigma platform and came with a five or six-speed automatic transmission; rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive and MagneRide were available. As a Sigma platform vehicle, the first generation SRX had a longitudinally mounted front engine, longitudinal transmission mounted behind the engine, and a rear drive differential. The AWD option was implemented with a transfer case mounted to the rear of the transmission, with a propeller shaft forward to a front differential to power the front wheels.
An all-leather interior and curtain side airbags were standard in both models. Heated front seats and wood interior trim were standard in the V8 and available as options in the V6. DVD, sunroof, navigation system, and a power foldable third-row seat were all available options. However the third row was no longer available for the 2010 model year on the SRX.
The base price was US$38,880 for the V6 and US$45,880 for the V8 version.
The SRX won Car and Driver's Five Best Trucks "luxury SUV" award for 2004, 2005 and 2006 and was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award for 2004.
The first generation SRX never had the V Series performance model available.
The first generation SRX was available through the 2009 model year.

- Summary: I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding a critical safety defect in my 2015 Cadillac SRX. The low beam headlights are dangerously dim, rendering night driving extremely hazardous. Despite GM's awareness of this defect, as evidenced by technical service bulletins and customer satisfaction campaigns, no adequate solution has been provided. My warranty has expired, but this defect is not due to any action on my part; it is a clear manufacturing flaw. The moisture accumulation within the headlight assemblies leads to electrical failures and corrosion, significantly impairing visibility. I had the same headlight issue with my 2011 Malibu and the pains it took to replace the headlights and wiring has been an unnecessary hassle. Do you know that they charge $200 to replace Malibu headlights? Is that reasonable? Speaking of the financial burden of repairing defective headlights, for the Cadillac SRX, the estimated repair cost is between $1,500 and $5,000, is unreasonable and unacceptable, especially considering the systemic nature of this problem. GM’s proposed reimbursements have been insufficient and do not address the root cause, as replacements continue to use the same flawed components. Several lawsuits have been filed against GM due to these defective headlights. The plaintiffs in these cases have reported severe safety hazards, including accidents caused by the dim headlights. One plaintiff stated, "I had an accident due to the low beam lights on my 2012 Cadillac SRX. It was still dark at 5:30 AM when I failed to see the outer road turned which caused me to collide with a curb and become airborne. This accident caused 3 blown-out tires and 2 ruined rims. This cost me $1700 and it was all caused by the extremely dim low beam headlights". November 24, 2023. Purchased car used in October 2023, and did not drive other than during day light. Took car on a 7 hour trip to Uniontown, PA from Virginia Beach. Could not see the road after 5 pm. It was dark and raining. I had to slow down to a stop in the road until passing cars went by. The headlights on the srx were so dim I could not see the sides of road or the lines painted on road. I contacted Cadillac customer service and they told me take it to dealer to get assessment And not to drive at night in the meantime. My ability to see the road was impossible. I had to practically stopped briefly in the road as oncoming cars passed by. I could only guess that I was still on the road until another car approached from behind to illuminate the road in front of me. It was very dangerous. I am a seasoned driver and I have a older 04 SRX that has original lights and no issues like this 2015 model. Very bad parts. The headlights are a Dangerous driving hazard to both driver, passengers, oncoming cars and cars following if in the road at night. GM needs to do a recall and replace these lights with aftermarket product. Bad manufacturing has made even the OEM replacement unsatisfactory. They will just go bad again.

This happened while my wife was driving down a rural highway, no other cars or equipment or buildings were near the vehicle when this occurred, open fields on both sides of the highway NOTHING HIT THE GLASS. This is a very big safety issue, the potential response from a driver that unexpectedly has what sounds like a gun go off 12 inches from their head, not to mention all the glass that falls onto them immediately after the explosion.

I called GM customer service and was given a number for GM analytics (1-888-305-1605), the recording states that the time to be reimbursed has passed and that they are no longer taking any further claim submissions. GM has settled class action lawsuits in Florida and California for this issue and sent letters to some SRX owners offering reimbursement for repairs.

We just bought a used 2015, and as night came, we went for our first evening drive, and the low beams are extremely dangerously dim. It looks like they weren’t even on. Searching the internet on how to fix the problem, I came across what seems to be a ridiculous amount of unsatisfied customers with the same problem and Cadillac refusing to help or recall with a different replacement, since replacing with the same damaged part, just happens again with the moisture problem. There’s even been a lawsuit, which was thrown out by the judge. If a driver has a blown bulb anywhere in their car, they are given a warning to replace or a ticket if they don’t. How do we replace something that’s going to fail again, because of a defective manufacturer part? Doesn’t seem fair, and I for one will be driving with my high beams, so that I can see at night, after spending my hard earned money on what i think is a great and reliable car made by a company like Cadillac. Very disappointing to read all the neglected customers just trying to have a defective part be recalled and made right by such a huge company. There was also a reimbursement program that people struggled with getting reimbursed if it wasn’t done exactly how they stated. This need your attention please. Please see the Part 573 report for the full list of warnings. Dealers will replace the adjustable toe link with a non-adjustable one, free of charge. On the affected vehicles, the jam nut in the rear suspension toe adjuster link may not be torqued to the proper specification. A loose toe adjuster link can cause the vehicle to sway or wander at highway speeds. A loose toe adjuster link may lead to thread damage and eventual failure. Failure of the toe adjuster link will cause an abrupt change in the vehicle's alignment.
- Consequence: Failure of the toe adjuster link could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the torque of the left and right rear toe link adjuster lock nuts, and replace the parts if there is evidence of damage or a loose link, free of charge. I've had my vehicle for 8 years and overall, I'm quite happy with it. However, there is one minor issue that I've noticed - the placement of the driver's cup holder. I find myself accidentally hitting it quite often and have to move it around to avoid spilling my drink.

I bought the CPO because I couldn't justify spending more money on the newer models that only seemed to have cosmetic changes. I'm really pleased with my SRX and Bayview Cadillac.

Sight view while backing up is limited ... However, I'm happy to report that the SRX met my goal of comfort with flying colors. While the fuel economy is a bit less than what I'm used to, it's understandable given the V6 engine. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase!

The entertainment system may lag a little when changing settings, and unfortunately the screen has spider webbed for no apparent reason. However, it's great that it was covered under the extended warranty. Additionally, some passengers may find the back seats uncomfortable. On the bright side, the powertrain has been trouble-free, although the brakes and rotors did need to be replaced. The rotors had heat stress fractures and could not be turned, so replacement was necessary.

This SUV runs great and provides a comfortable ride. We chose lighter interiors because we enjoy the brighter atmosphere at night. We would definitely consider purchasing another Cadillac.

If you live in a rural area, you might want to consider other options. The night driving lights work more like flashlights, so you will need to keep the high beams on constantly. I have changed to LED lighting, but unfortunately, it did not solve the issue. It's a shame because I love everything else about the SRX!

In 2019, I purchased a 2015 Cadillac SRX Premium with 23,000 miles. Unfortunately, I have experienced some issues with the car, such as the CUE screen freezing up and the air conditioning compressor going out. However, I was able to fix the CUE screen myself by purchasing a new screen from Amazon and watching a YouTube tutorial, which only cost me $50. Although the brake and drum replacements were necessary, I am currently experiencing some issues with the ABS and Stabilitrak lights. Despite these challenges, I am hopeful that the dealership will be able to provide me with the necessary service. Unfortunately, all the loaners are currently in use, so I will need to find someone to accompany me to drop off my vehicle. Overall, I have had some difficulties with my Cadillac, but I am confident that the dealership will be able to provide me with the necessary support.

I've always loved the way this vehicle looks, but I do have a few concerns. The low beam seems very low, and I hear a low clicking noise when I turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. Additionally, it's slow to pick up speed when changing gears. However, I do appreciate that it sits slightly higher than most vehicles in its class, and it provides a very smooth ride.

I purchased a 2015 Cadillac SRX in 2016 with very low mileage. Two years ago, the Cue System had to be replaced but it was covered under Warranty. Unfortunately, it has now failed again and requires replacement, which is costing me a significant amount. It is disappointing that this issue has arisen again, especially given my low mileage. While the offered discount is appreciated, it does not fully address the issue. As a loyal customer, I expect better from Cadillac.

Nice looking and good size! Although, I must admit, the CUE system can be a bit of a nightmare to keep fingerprints off. Unfortunately, after the warranty expired (around 57,000 miles), the CUE system started working intermittently. It seems like this is an ongoing problem with various Cadillac models over the years. There is no fix available and it would cost $1,400-$1,600 to remove and replace. I saw the writing on the wall and decided to trade it for a Lexus.
