1992 Cadillac Fleetwood problems
The Cadillac Fleetwood was a full-size luxury sedan that was marketed by Cadillac from the 1976 to 1996 model years. Taking its nameplate from a coachbuilder historically associated with the General Motors division, the Cadillac Fleetwood became a stand-alone model line in 1985.
The first generation of the Fleetwood was introduced as Cadillac converted its C-body platform to front-wheel drive. Serving between the Sedan deVille and the Sixty Special in the front-wheel drive Cadillac line, the Fleetwood also filled the gap between the deVille and the rear-wheel drive Fleetwood Brougham (Cadillac Brougham from 1987-1992). The second generation moved to the D-body platform, serving as the replacement of the Brougham (the Fleetwood Brougham returned as a trim option).
Following the 1996 model year, Cadillac retired its Fleetwood line as GM ended production of its full-size sedan lines in North America. Within Cadillac, its large sedan lines were consolidated solely to the deVille series (later the Cadillac DTS).

Common 1992 Cadillac Fleetwood problems
The 1992 Cadillac Fleetwood is known for several common problems, primarily related to fuel injectors, engine control module (ECM), body control module (BCM), and the engine itself.
- Engine Issues: The 1992 Cadillac Fleetwood can experience engine problems, such as hissing sounds from the cylinders and leaks. The hissing sound could be due to loose or damaged components, while the leak could be due to a faulty gasket or seal. The engine may also idle erratically, with lights fading and coming back on in rhythm. This could be due to a vacuum leak, faulty idle air control valve, or a problem with the engine computer.
- Engine Oil: The engine may require frequent oil changes, especially if the oil percentage is low. Using the correct oil for the engine is crucial for its longevity and performance. The 1992 Cadillac Fleetwood with a rebuilt Jasper 4.9 engine requires a high-quality synthetic oil.
These are some of the common problems reported by owners of the 1992 Cadillac Fleetwood. Regular maintenance and timely repairs can help prevent these issues and ensure the car's longevity.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family! I understand that with three kids and a fourth on the way, it was time for a bigger car. Your previous 97 Corolla was a great little car, but it was getting too small for your growing family. The new car is perfect for your needs, and it's great that you can all take a ride together now. The car has some amazing features, like rear light vanity mirrors, armrest, heat vents, and powered seats. The American factory stereo is also a great addition. I'm glad to hear that you're happy with your purchase!

This is the first Cadillac I've owned, but I've had the opportunity to drive several. I really love this car! It has class and smart lines at the same time. Although mine has a few problems to fix, like the ABS control module and computer ride, the performance of the V8 is outstanding and even with shocks that need replacing it still rides great. The Bose Gold CD system is great, except for one rear speaker that is bad. The handling of this large car is outstanding for its size.

Hey there! You're the best caddy ever!

I really enjoyed this car! When I bought it, it had 135k miles and when I hit the deer, it had 243k miles. I am so grateful that I was in my Cadillac and not my wife's low hood tinny metal car. I loved the ride and was able to get up to 28mpg on the highway after changing the front calipers, which were hanging up and robbing my mileage. This car was great for driving in the snow, with good traction. I'm going to miss it. Now I'm looking for another Cadillac to replace my baby! I'm not sure about changing body styles though, but it looks like I have no choice if I get a newer model.

You made a great choice with this car! It's impressive that it's been running so well despite its age. You've only had to make a few minor fixes, which is a testament to how well it was maintained before you bought it. The car handles the rough Michigan roads with ease and has plenty of space for everyone. The trunk is spacious and can fit even large items like a lawn mower and weed trimmer. The seats are incredibly comfortable for long drives and the 4.9L engine has plenty of power for passing on two-lane roads. You're getting great gas mileage too, averaging about 17-19mpg in mixed driving and 20-23mpg on the highway (70mph+). It's important to note that premium fuel is required, but it's worth it for the performance you're getting. Overall, it sounds like you have a reliable and comfortable car that's perfect for your needs!

This car is really comfortable to drive and has excellent acceleration and handling abilities. It's also very passenger friendly, roomy, and makes you feel safe. While it's not the most fuel-efficient car out there and requires premium fuel, it's important to keep in mind that this is not an economy car and some trade-offs are expected. The frequency of repairs is about average, but it's worth noting that some parts can be quite expensive. Overall, this car provides a really pleasant driving and owning experience.
