1996 Cadillac Fleetwood problems
The Cadillac Fleetwood was a full-size luxury sedan that was marketed by Cadillac from the 1976 to 1996 model years. Taking its nameplate from a coachbuilder historically associated with the General Motors division, the Cadillac Fleetwood became a stand-alone model line in 1985.
The first generation of the Fleetwood was introduced as Cadillac converted its C-body platform to front-wheel drive. Serving between the Sedan deVille and the Sixty Special in the front-wheel drive Cadillac line, the Fleetwood also filled the gap between the deVille and the rear-wheel drive Fleetwood Brougham (Cadillac Brougham from 1987-1992). The second generation moved to the D-body platform, serving as the replacement of the Brougham (the Fleetwood Brougham returned as a trim option).
Following the 1996 model year, Cadillac retired its Fleetwood line as GM ended production of its full-size sedan lines in North America. Within Cadillac, its large sedan lines were consolidated solely to the deVille series (later the Cadillac DTS).

You have a 95 Fleetwood Brougham with all the features. It's definitely one of the most comfortable cars I've ridden in, especially the back seat. The road noise is minimal, making it the perfect highway cruiser. Although it feels very long for town driving, it's still a great car overall.

The Cadillac Fleetwood is an exceptional highway cruiser, and we've taken it on numerous long trips of 500 miles or more. It's always smooth and quiet, and the sound system, while not a Bose system like in other Cadillacs, is still quite powerful. The rear seat room is unsurpassed, making it perfect for long journeys. While the front leg room is not quite as good as other large FWD cars like the Buick Park Avenue, it's still comfortable. The Fleetwood is solidly built and can last for many years if taken care of. Additionally, its RWD makes it easy to do some maintenance and repairs myself. With its impressive size and ample bright metal trim, it's an impressive looking vehicle. It's worth noting that this was the model for the Presidential limo from 1995-2000.

I had a Black 1970 Fleetwood Brougham while in college in the early 80s. It was a great car with rear footrests, reading lights, and many other features. Unfortunately, it was a New England rust bucket, so I had to move away from Cadillacs. In January 2000, I needed a better tow vehicle, and so started looking for a Fleetwood or Roadmaster. Luckily, I found both and decided to get a Fleetwood because it looked better! I found a black Brougham, and it was like deja vu! It has every option except the sunroof (the rear lighted vanity mirrors are more cool, and I have two Cadillac convertibles anyway) and it has the CD player. I put 16,000 miles a year on it with no major surprises. The factory chrome wheels shine, and the paint held up well. The engine is still silent and strong.

A very impressive looking car. It's very comfortable, quiet, and powerful. While the mpg in town isn't great, it's very good on the highway for a car of its size, averaging 30 mpg at 55-60 mph. So for a long trip, with all of that room and comfort, it's an absolute pleasure. And of course, we feel very safe in it.

You've done a great job maintaining your vehicle! I noticed that you've replaced the starter three times, the EGR valve and solenoid, the air pump, the water pump (which was leaking on the distributor), the ignition wires, coil, and spark plug wires. You've also replaced the front and rear shocks, idler arms, and suspension rods, as well as the brakes, pads, and all four tires. Additionally, you've replaced the driver's side remote mirror. It sounds like you've taken excellent care of your car!

Mirrors, lights, and trim have been poorly installed and fall off regularly. The transmission has been somewhat problematic, but I have a solution. The dealer service has been terrible, but I have found a better alternative. It is not worth the cost to have them flounder around charging for the wrong solutions repeatedly.
