The Cadillac Fleetwood was a full-size luxury sedan that was marketed by Cadillac from the 1976 to 1996 model years. Taking its nameplate from a coachbuilder historically associated with the General Motors division, the Cadillac Fleetwood became a stand-alone model line in 1985.

The first generation of the Fleetwood was introduced as Cadillac converted its C-body platform to front-wheel drive. Serving between the Sedan deVille and the Sixty Special in the front-wheel drive Cadillac line, the Fleetwood also filled the gap between the deVille and the rear-wheel drive Fleetwood Brougham (Cadillac Brougham from 1987-1992). The second generation moved to the D-body platform, serving as the replacement of the Brougham (the Fleetwood Brougham returned as a trim option).

Following the 1996 model year, Cadillac retired its Fleetwood line as GM ended production of its full-size sedan lines in North America. Within Cadillac, its large sedan lines were consolidated solely to the deVille series (later the Cadillac DTS).

THE AFFECTED FILTERS ARE MARKED WITH A DATE CODE A61451 THROUGH A72571 SEQUENTIALLY. THE DATE CODE AND PART NUMBER APPEAR ON THE FILTER HOUSING. FRAM RACING HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS NOT BEARING A DATE CODE IN THIS RANGE ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL. THE GASKET OF THE OIL FILTER BECOMES MORE PLIABLE UNDER HIGH TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES.

    I bought this car with 57,000 miles and in 21 months have driven 50,000 trouble-free miles. I absolutely love the ride and with the 350, I can easily get up to highway speed. Even when cruising at about 80 MPH, I still get an impressive 21+ MPG, all on regular gas. The trunk is incredibly spacious and the interior is roomy and comfortable. I plan to drive this one for another 100K, and then hopefully find another low mileage example of this fine Texas-built Cadillac.

    I love my big caddy! It's been such a great car, although I do wish the dashboard hadn't split. I've noticed this issue in other cars too, so I wonder if it's a recall item. Despite this, my car has always been kept in the garage and it still rides with ease, even after 91,000 miles. Last month, I had it tuned for the first time, just to keep it in tip top shape. It didn't really drive like it needed it, but I want to take good care of it.

    The car overall is really nice. Although it has reached 70,000 miles and has been in and out of the shop for electrical reasons, when it's road worthy it's a blast to drive. However, the security system can be a nightmare and the steering column has been taken apart and redone but still continues to act up.
