The Cadillac CTS is a luxury car, manufactured and marketed by General Motors from 2003 until 2019 across three generations.

Initially available as a 4-door sedan on the GM Sigma platform, GM had offered the second generation CTS in three body styles: 4-door sedan, 2-door coupe, and 5-door sport wagon also using the Sigma platform — and the third generation was offered only as a sedan, using a stretched version of the GM Alpha platform. High performance sedan variants were offered for each generation, as the CTS-V — with wagon and coupe variants offered for the second generation.

Wayne Cherry and Kip Wasenko designed the exterior of the first generation CTS, marking the production debut of a design language marketed as "Art and Science," first used on the Evoq concept car. John Manoogian III directed the second generation CTS design. Bob Boniface and Robin Krieg designed the exterior of the third generation CTS.

The CTS ended production in 2019 and was replaced by the CT5, which shared its platform with the third and final generation of the CTS in addition to the smaller CT4.

Negative 2012 Cadillac Cts-v car reviews

  1. Alden Lockman 2024-10-21

When this car was designed, the manufacturers had all the right ideas for both performance and appearance. It's a great looking car, but unfortunately, I've had some issues with it. I bought the car new last October and have already put 50,000 km on the odometer. One month ago, they changed the supercharger, and just two weeks ago, they had to order new chims for the differential due to a recall. Today, they informed me that they need to change the transmission. Additionally, they quoted me £700 just for the front brake pads (and that's just for the parts), and £300 for the rear. All in all, given the price, I expected more reliability!

Positive 2012 Cadillac Cts-v car reviews

  1. Cary Waelchi 2025-01-08

I recently traded my M3 for the CTS-V and I must say, the car is simply amazing! The power and torque can be a bit scary at times, but the magnetic suspension offers a perfect balance of comfort and touring. This is by far the fastest car I have ever owned, so be prepared to buy a radar detector because keeping this car at speed is impossible. The biggest surprise for me was how beautiful the interior is. The hand-stitched dash and ambient lighting, along with the skyview sunroof, make for a fantastic place to spend time. The fit and finish are also very impressive, and I absolutely love the white diamond paint on my car. Bottom line, GM hit a home run with this one, and if you're in need of a fast 4-door sedan, look no further. Plus, you can't beat the price!

  2. Erin McGlynn 2025-01-08

Wow! Congratulations on your new 2012 Cadillac CTS-V sedan! It looks stunning! You've owned some amazing luxury and performance automobiles like Porsches, Corvettes, Infiniti, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, and driven many others. Most people can only dream of owning or driving one of these cars in their lifetime. If you're lucky enough to own one of these automobiles, you should consider yourself blessed. The CTS-V is definitely the 'Best Bang for the Buck'! There are very few luxury-performance sedans that can match its speed, like the Porsche Panamera Turbo(S), but you'd have to pay a huge premium for minimal performance gains.

  3. Ryder Tillman 2024-10-28

I traded in my 2008 BMW M3 coupe for a full boat 09 CTS-V auto. I had been eyeing this car for a while, but needed more space, so I finally made the move. The looks of this car are terrific and simply unparalleled by the competition. What I noticed about this car is the obvious thrust/torque that goes with its monster engine. However, I also noticed that the car starts to handle and steer better as you increase speed. The suspension seems to set up better, steering more responsive and crisp. My only gripe is (don't forget, coming out of an M3) that there are a lot more creaks and noises coming from interior parts and the seats. Overall, it's a great car for GM, but it still has some way to go to match the DNA of the best cars on the road.

  4. Jo Hirthe 2024-10-20

There is no doubt that this four door supercar offers unbeatable value for money. Have you considered purchasing a 4 door, 110,000 ZR-1 with better seats and interior for 65-70,000? It's an incredible deal that you won't want to miss out on. I personally purchased this car and can attest to its exceptional quality and affordability.

  5. Deonte McGlynn 2024-10-02

I have two Corvettes. One was built by Chevrolet in 1977, it's an L-82 350/350 coupe. The other was built by Cadillac in 2009, it's a CTS-V Touring Sedan. Can you guess which one is faster and more powerful, but not quite as slick looking? In my opinion, there is not a BMW or Mercedes worth the extra 30 to 40k I'd be willing to pay for their prestige. Besides, the Corvette Touring Sedan -V looks much cooler than either of them, especially when I see them in my rearview mirror. I've been there and done that many times before, and they just aren't worth it. Neither is the 110k needed to purchase the coupe version of my CTS-V, i.e., ZR-1.
