2007 Cadillac Cts-v problems

The Cadillac CTS is a luxury car, manufactured and marketed by General Motors from 2003 until 2019 across three generations.

Initially available as a 4-door sedan on the GM Sigma platform, GM had offered the second generation CTS in three body styles: 4-door sedan, 2-door coupe, and 5-door sport wagon also using the Sigma platform — and the third generation was offered only as a sedan, using a stretched version of the GM Alpha platform. High performance sedan variants were offered for each generation, as the CTS-V — with wagon and coupe variants offered for the second generation.

Wayne Cherry and Kip Wasenko designed the exterior of the first generation CTS, marking the production debut of a design language marketed as "Art and Science," first used on the Evoq concept car. John Manoogian III directed the second generation CTS design. Bob Boniface and Robin Krieg designed the exterior of the third generation CTS.

The CTS ended production in 2019 and was replaced by the CT5, which shared its platform with the third and final generation of the CTS in addition to the smaller CT4.

Common 2007 Cadillac Cts-v problems

The 2007 Cadillac CTS-V, a high-performance luxury sedan, is known for several common problems that have been reported by owners. These issues range from engine and drivetrain problems to interior accessory malfunctions.

  • Steering Wheel Position Sensor Failure: Another common problem is the failure of the steering wheel position sensor, which can cause the vehicle to display a "Service Stability" message and behave unexpectedly, such as engaging the cruise control, jerking side to side, or trying to brake. This issue can result in the vehicle acting unpredictably and can be dangerous if not addressed promptly.
  • Engine Problems: Many owners have reported engine problems, such as rough idling, engine failure, and stalling, which are mainly caused by a seized motor, worn camshaft, or a faulty engine control module (ECM) sensor. These issues can lead to significant downtime and repair costs.
  • Interior Accessories Issues: The 2007 CTS-V, like other models in the CTS lineup, has faced issues with interior accessories. For example, many owners have complained about the touchscreen display cracking for no reason and spotty Bluetooth connectivity. These issues can affect the overall user experience and convenience of the vehicle.
  • Differential Issues: Look for issues with the differential in all first-gen CTS-V models, but especially the '04s and '05s, which are more prone to disaster under the strain of that Vette engine.
  • Transmission Problems: Numerous CTS models, including the 2007 CTS-V, have contended with transmission system issues, which are mainly attributed to fluid issues, ruptured transmission seals, and a faulty torque converter. These problems can lead to poor performance, reduced fuel efficiency, and expensive repairs.

To avoid these common problems, potential buyers should consider having the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic before purchasing and be prepared for potential repairs and maintenance costs associated with these known issues.

Negative 2007 Cadillac Cts-v car reviews

  1. Erling McLaughlin 2024-07-23

This car seems to go through run-flat tires quite quickly, and unfortunately GM has not yet addressed this issue. It can be frustrating to have to spend $880 on new tires every 10k miles or less. Additionally, the differential can sometimes make a loud clanking noise, which the dealer has said is normal. On the bright side, the car is lightning fast and has good brakes. The interior does have a fair amount of plastic, but overall it's still a solid choice.

Positive 2007 Cadillac Cts-v car reviews

  1. Daron O'Conner 2025-01-04

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying the acceleration of the 400 horses! It's great that the 6 speed is similar to your previous Corvette, making the first to fourth shifting less annoying. I can understand why you appreciate the cornering. Although your wife finds the suspension too stiff, it's a bonus for you. The additional seats compared to a Corvette make it a more appealing option. It's impressive that you've achieved 25 mpg on the highway and that it's a comfortable ride on interstates. The sound system is fantastic and the navigation system is very useful. XM radio is also a convenient feature, especially when you're in the middle of nowhere and want to catch a sports game. I can see why you would consider trying a Corvette with over 600 horses, but the price tag of 100K+ is a bit steep. Overall, it sounds like you've found the best car you've ever had, hands down!

  2. Kelley Boyer 2024-10-19

This is the best car for the value of the dollar I've ever purchased. It's fast, easy on gas, and has awesome electronic features that are easy to use. The creature comforts are similar to any sport car. This is what a car is supposed to be - it brings enjoyment to driving. Additionally, it's comfortable on a long road trip.

  3. Daron Nikolaus 2024-10-10

Great car!! The LS2 6.0 is truly untouchable. Who cares about gas mileage when you get this kind of performance? I thought I wanted an M5, but not anymore!! I work for a local Chevy/Cadillac Dealer and they have got me for life with this car!!

  4. Gabriel Schaden 2024-10-04

I am a woman and I absolutely love driving this car! My husband tries to get behind the wheel as much as possible, but I don't give it up easily. The clutch is the easiest I have ever driven and I love everything about the car, except for the skip shift.

  5. Manuela Considine 2024-08-03

Having owned several muscle cars in my life, I must say that this is truly a modern muscle car. The CTS-V turns heads everywhere I go and highway on ramps are a blast. The underpass noise gives me a rush and I feel like a high school kid again. I have every dealer performance option available, but the skip shift has to go. I think a MSG transmission with paddle shift and the heads up display would make it even more fun.
