The Buick Encore is a subcompact crossover SUV built by General Motors from 2012 to 2022. It is subcompact crossover SUV marketed by Buick and its fourth SUV overall after the Rendezvous, Rainier, and Enclave.
The "Encore" designation was previously used by American Motors Corporation (AMC) for the subcompact two and four-door hatchback variants of the U.S.-built front-wheel drive Renault Alliance from 1984 to 1987.
First generation (2013)
The first-generation Encore is a restyled first-generation Chevrolet Trax, and shares the same styling with the European Opel/Vauxhall Mokka. It debuted at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 10, 2012, and went on sale at the end of 2012. The North American Encore is assembled at the GM Korea plant in Bupyeong, South Korea alongside the Trax. The Chinese market Encore is assembled in Shandong.
The 2013, 2014 and 2015 Encore in the U.S. was offered in Base, Convenience, Leather, and Premium level models with the A14NET 1.4-liter inline-four multi-port fuel injected (MFI) VVT turbo gasoline engine rated at 128 hp (95 kW; 130 PS) @ 4900 rpm coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It was available in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions.
For 2016, a new Sport Touring second tier model was added which included an 18-inch alloy wheels with midnight silver finish, rear spoiler, body-color door handles, remote start, fog lights, and a new more powerful B14XFT Ecotec inline four-cylinder direct fuel injection VVT engine rated at 153 hp (114 kW; 155 PS) @ 5600 rpm in Encore marketing materials. However, Opel in Europe rates the engine for the Mokka at 150 hp (112 kW; 152 PS) @ 4900–6000 rpm.
The Ecotec direct-injection engine package includes Stop/Start technology to improve fuel economy and was made available as an option on all but the base model for 2017 and 2018. In 2017, the model levels became Base, Preferred, Sport Touring, Preferred II, Essence, and Premium.

However, in July this 2018 Buick Encore went into ‘limp mode, check engine light came on. Code for problem was 2138 (accelerator Pedal Position Sensor) The initial dealer solution was to apply dielectric grease. However, this ‘cure’ lasted . 15 miles, when it went into limp mode,,, again check engine icon came on THIS is very dangerous, as it cannot accelerate and from a stop, it does not move until a minute later… that is so frightening, I again took it to the deaer, same code of P2138, and now they recommend the accelerator pedal positon sensor replacement…. THIS is identical to the problems with the other Encores, This is a severe safety issue, and the rest of the 2018 Buick Encores should be included for notification AND repair .

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact about repairing the vehicle and the process for reimbursement. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. Had warranty on car when started said only bumper to bumper would cover it. Car only had 48,839 miles when first happened. Still only has 51,852 miles.

- Summary: Have been experiencing brake malfunction on my 2018 Buick Encore with the brakes getting locked while driving. There were instances where the brakes would lock randomly and the vehicle would start slowing down during driving even with a foot on the gas pedal and I had to turn on the hazards lights to pull the vehicle on the side in order to avoid being rear ended. Took the vehicle to a GM dealership and initial diagnostics mentioned that the brake pedal position sensor was malfunctioning and would need a replacement. Agreed to replace that, but after this repair dealership claimed that there was a loose pivot in the brake pedal assembly causing the brake light to be on(Did not have this issue before taking the vehicle to dealership). Since the vehicle was not in a driving condition due to the brake light being "ON" all the time, as per the dealership suggestion I agreed to replacing the entire brake pedal assembly as well. However, the original issue was not resolved and the dealership is now recommending that replacing the master brake cylinder and brake booster might resolve the issue. The dealership has also mentioned that all these recommended repairs are from GM and my vehicle is still at the dealership.

The mechanic told us he can't test the turbo on it because the oil line going into the turbo isn't working and he has multiple other vehicles in for the SAME issue and they have been sitting in his back lot since December because he can't get the part in because everyone is out of stock. We will have to pay out of pocket for the oil line issue which will be $2300. So the turbo going bad is not the only issue this recall should cover. Because the oil line supplying the turbo should be included with the recall!

- Summary: I have been employed in the Automotive Parts and Repair business for over forty years. I notice my vehicle exhaust sounded different than usual. I suspected the flex pipe part of the front exhaust pipe was leaking. This was confirmed by my local auto repair shop during a service visit. During my time as GM Parts Manager I can speak from experience to the problems these flex pipes cause because I kept two or three of them on the shelf to repair vehicles. My concern is exhaust fumes entering the passenger compartment of my vehicle because the flex pipe leaking which is just off the exhaust manifold. I contacted the local dealership where my vehicle was purchased because there still is a "Emission Warranty in effect. My 2018 Buick Encore has less than 50000 miles on it . I also contacted the Northeast Region District Service Manger with my concerns.

- Summary: Pittering nosie started from under the hood a few days later the information pages glitches and gave 20+ options with the main menus in what looked like Arabic then a few days later the check engine light came on hooked up a code reader and the codes indicated fuel system issue but was able to clear code light remanded off and remote start quite working with remote and threw the app ran fine for about a month with no issue then light came back on on 01/31 and cleared itself in 7days and remote start began working again began running rough and had issues idling on the 2/22 and after getting gas on 2/23 would start but struggled for a few seconds and turned off 4times like it couldn't get fuel to maintain the start but was able to finally get it to start and was able to make it to work and seems to be running ok but still has the persistent Pittering sound

I'm so glad I purchased this mini SUV! I bought a used 2018 model in July 2020 with only 19k miles on it. I've only had it for a week, but I'm already really impressed. It's incredibly fuel-efficient - I've only used less than a quarter tank of gas in a week! The interior is also fantastic - very comfortable and up-to-date. The radio and cabin are both modern and high-quality. While it's not the fastest car out there, I don't think speed is a top priority for those in the market for a mini SUV. Overall, I think this model is better than some other makes and models that are brand new in 2020.

You have a beautiful car, both inside and out. It's such a smooth ride and the cabin is very quiet. It holds the road very well. I remember driving it to Gulf Shores two years ago and it was a wonderful ride for a 13-hour trip. I understand that you're thinking of selling it and purchasing the Encore, but you're concerned that you won't like it as much as the Enclave. I can imagine that it's a tough decision, especially since you're approaching 80 years old and no longer need a large car.

I was looking for a car that was affordable, fuel efficient, reliable, comfortable, stylish, and had a nice stereo. Without doing much research, I bought a Buick Encore and I'm happy with my choice. The low price, along with the rebates, made it possible for me to purchase a new vehicle with all-wheel drive for under $19,000. The car is spacious enough to comfortably fit three large adults and I easily average over 35 miles per gallon, although I haven't quite hit 40 yet. I have noticed that the car performs better when I use 93 octane fuel, but it's still more than adequate without it. The Encore doesn't hit its power until over 3,000 RPM, but it's still a smooth ride. The base stereo is great and the car is easily the quietest and smoothest vehicle I've ever owned. After 10,000 miles, everything has been flawless. While there may be better vehicles out there, the Encore is unbeatable for the price.

The small SUV we rented for our California vacation was a great choice, as it provided ample space for our luggage and was easy to park in the notoriously small parking spaces of southern California. Despite its overall quality, we did encounter one issue with the partially missing drivers side and center rear seat belts. We reported the problem to the rental car company upon returning the vehicle. Despite this issue, the car was in great condition with only 700 miles on it, and the rear doors only required a second hard slam to close them. The Encore's seats were comfortable and the controls were intuitive, making for a pleasant driving experience. Although the car was a bit noisy on the highways, this is likely due to the rough concrete highways in southern California. The engine performed adequately, although it did have to work hard to get the car up to highway speed. The car was equipped with Apple CarPlay, which worked well with my phone, although the volume seemed to randomly alter at times. Overall, the Encore offers great value for its price, which appears to top out in the low thirties when fully equipped. Given the number of Encores on the rental car company lot, it is likely that the car sells at a significant discount over sticker price. We achieved an average of 30.5 mpg over about 1,050 miles of mixed driving, according to the car's computer.

After experiencing issues with my car, I took it to the dealer for repair. Despite their initial suggestion that I had picked up bad gas, I persisted in seeking a solution to the problem. After five months, the dealer finally determined that my computer needed an update, which unfortunately caused damage to the motor and starter. Although I am disappointed that Buick has not offered to extend my warranty or assist me in purchasing a 2021 Encore, I remain confident in my ability to find a solution to this issue.

Initially got it for a great price. However, I have been experiencing some issues with it every month or so, which is a bit disappointing. It's a shame that such a nice vehicle isn't more reliable and powerful. I have had some subpar and underwhelming experiences at two different dealers.
