ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-04-05
- VIN: KL4CJESB7LB
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: Imthe original owner and purchased the car new 4 years ago. At 89,000 miles, the check engine light came on indicating codes for emission controls not working efficiently. Later additional codes indicated problems with the fuel evaporator. The car started having problems every time I filled up the gas tank it would stall, hesitate and have problems starting shortly after the fill up. Problem also occurred if I let the fuel level run down to 1 gallon when the reserve indicator light came on the fuel tank. So now I fill up when I reach a quarter tank. Steady driving for at least 10 minutes would clear the problem temporarily. Car hesitates, stalls and misfires when going uphill, steep hills and also when coming to full stop Such as a red light. Later additional problem of car hesitating and misfiring during acceleration. I have replaced the spark plugs and ignition coil. No change noticed. Awaiting mechanic diagnosis. This problem seems very similar to another complaint filed under NHTSA ID 11548946 in October 2023

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-11-13
- VIN: KL4CJESB8LB
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I currently own a 2020 Buick Encore since new with only 18,389 miles on it. Recently, I noticed on the Buick Encore that it lacked stopping power. Upon checking the air in the tires for winter I noticed that the rear brake rotors were severely rusted. And then I decided to further inspect the rotor surfaces. I removed the left rear tire and noticed that the back side surface was severely corroded therefore inhibiting the brake pad to stop with it. I remove the right rear tire and found the same condition! As I am retired, and still a ASE and Michigan master mechanic (XXX) I know this condition is abnormal for a vehicle with such low miles even in Michigan. This is my wife’s vehicle, and she noticed that the stopping distance was severely decreased over the months. With driving is treacherous as it is today she needs all the stopping distance that she can get. With the way the rotors were rusted, the rear brakes had no stopping power, and the fronts were minimal at best for surface for the pads to stop with. I checked the front and found the same thing on the inner surfaces of both front rotors. I decided it was time that I replace all the rotors and the pads as the surfaces of all rotors were beyond the point of turning them. I would never expect this to occur on a vehicle with such low mileage. I replaced the rotors and pads with all AC Delco components as I have faith in the design changes that are usually made to products in the same product family. For the rotors, I made sure that they were plated to stop any rust from occurring on the non-stopping surfaces. If anyone were to Google this vehicle, or it’s Cousin the Trax, you can see there are replacements either with coding or different material that prevents corrosion. I am glad I caught this in time as my wife’s safety was in jeopardy. One can see there is a fix for this issue, but the manufacture neglected to take any action to correct it. This is a very small car, perfect for someone who doesn't often have passengers or cargo. I think it's a cute car and I'm really going to like it!

Many professional reviews talk down about this car, but as a regular, normal, everyday consumer, I can say that they don't do it justice. Buick has created an awesome, comfortable little SUV with the Encore. It comes standard with lots of features, a simple yet elegant infotainment system, quality materials inside, lots of soft touch areas and storage. Yes, a 6-foot adult can sit in the back seat comfortably with room to spare. Its cargo volume is plenty for the average consumer, and it has great gas mileage. The simple, reliable turbo engine performs at a national average compared to every other small SUV in the class for under $30k. It's got clean lines and style. The ride is great, comfortable, and quiet, with nice leather interior, LED daytime running lights and tail lights, acoustic glass, push-button start, phone connectivity and Bluetooth, OnStar, a power driver's seat, proximity lock and unlock, one-touch up and down windows, a great air conditioner, and very nice premium 18-inch wheels with Continental sport tires. Buick has delivered an affordable luxury entry-level SUV. Sure, it could use a bit more power, but what car couldn't? However, this car feels well-made, a safe option for older drivers, and a reliable luxury option for younger ones. Drive the competition, and then drive this. You will instantly notice the feel and look of its luxury branding that far surpasses other small SUVs on the market. Also, the incentives to buy the Encore right now are insane and well worth the purchase!

I was searching for a vehicle of similar size to replace my 2003 Toyota Rav4. Although the 2019 Buick Encore differs in many ways, I have been driving it for 2 years now and I really enjoy it. The seats are comfortable and the driver's seat sits high, providing excellent visibility. It is easy to drive and park, and it also gets good gas mileage.

I sold Hondas and Toyotas for 32 years, but I never considered buying a domestic car. However, after test driving everything in this class, the Encore won hands down for its ride, quietness, price, and standard features. Except for the Kia, it has the best warranty. I love the way it handles in traffic and on the open road. Buick has really stepped up its game for quality. Also, the price was the lowest with the new GM employee pricing. I would highly recommend this car to anyone.

I recently had an opportunity to drive the Encore as a dealer loaner while my car was getting repaired. Unfortunately, I found the experience to be quite uncomfortable. The seats were cramped and there was very little legroom for both the driver and passenger. Additionally, the engine felt underpowered and the car was sluggish on the highway, which made me feel a bit uneasy when changing lanes. The interior also felt a bit cheap and the seats were not very comfortable. Although I have been a Buick owner for years, I don't think I would consider buying the Encore. However, I do have a friend who recently purchased a brand new Jeep Compass and for the money, I would highly recommend considering one of those instead of an Encore.

I had the chance to drive an Encore as a rental while my car was being repaired after an accident. At first, I was excited to see them on the road, thinking they were cute and possibly fun. When the rental company offered me one, I couldn't resist. The front of the car seemed luxurious, but upon closer inspection, the interior was made of cheap plastic on the dash and doors. However, I did enjoy the big touch screen and the features it came with. The front seats were a bit narrow, but manageable. One day, while packing my things in the back to go to work, I sat in the back to sort them so they wouldn't fall over. Unfortunately, it was very cramped back there, and I felt claustrophobic, even though I'm a little short person. The materials in the back were even cheaper than in the front. I wouldn't want to ride back there on a long trip. The trunk was also very tiny. I ended up driving all day one of the days while I had it because I had to go see clients, and it was quite uncomfortable. In my opinion, this car is not worth the price they charge for it. Keep in mind that I'm a short and little person, and I still felt cramped. Overall, I was not impressed and was glad to get my car back. This car is cheaply made and not as luxurious or fine as advertised.

Five months ago, we hit a deer which caused the driver's side seat belt to malfunction. Despite our repeated attempts, GMC has been unable to provide us with a replacement seat belt and has not given us any indication of when one will become available. As a result, the dealership has refused to release the car due to safety concerns. Despite our long-standing loyalty to GMC, we have been disappointed by their lack of action in resolving this issue, and we are now considering other options for our future automotive needs.

Just finished a multi-week rental and I have some thoughts on the Buick. While it has some nice features like quiet rides on well-paved roads, bright headlights, and good visibility, there are some areas that could use improvement. For example, the cargo hold is quite small and there isn't much storage for small items in the car. Additionally, the gas tank is quite small. However, it does have CarPlay available for infotainment and navigation, which is a plus. Overall, I think with some improvements, this car could be a great option for those looking for a comfortable ride.It has a nice, cute, rumble-tumble look to it.

With only 15,100 miles, I experienced an issue while merging onto the freeway at 60 mph. The check engine light went on and the car seemed to lose a lot of power. I immediately took it to the Buick dealer and was informed that it was a turbocharger failure. The service advisor told me that it was a known issue with the Encore. Although they rebuilt the turbocharger once already, the exact same issue occurred again after just one week. I hope they do a better job this time!
