The Buick Encore is a subcompact crossover SUV built by General Motors from 2012 to 2022. It is subcompact crossover SUV marketed by Buick and its fourth SUV overall after the Rendezvous, Rainier, and Enclave.

First generation (2013)
The first-generation Encore is a restyled first-generation Chevrolet Trax, and shares the same styling with the European Opel/Vauxhall Mokka. It debuted at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 10, 2012, and went on sale at the end of 2012. The North American Encore is assembled at the GM Korea plant in Bupyeong, South Korea alongside the Trax. The Chinese market Encore is assembled in Shandong.
The 2013, 2014 and 2015 Encore in the U.S. was offered in Base, Convenience, Leather, and Premium level models with the A14NET 1.4-liter inline-four multi-port fuel injected (MFI) VVT turbo gasoline engine rated at 128 hp (95 kW; 130 PS) @ 4900 rpm coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It was available in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions.
For 2016, a new Sport Touring second tier model was added which included an 18-inch alloy wheels with midnight silver finish, rear spoiler, body-color door handles, remote start, fog lights, and a new more powerful B14XFT Ecotec inline four-cylinder direct fuel injection VVT engine rated at 153 hp (114 kW; 155 PS) @ 5600 rpm in Encore marketing materials. However, Opel in Europe rates the engine for the Mokka at 150 hp (112 kW; 152 PS) @ 4900–6000 rpm.
The Ecotec direct-injection engine package includes Stop/Start technology to improve fuel economy and was made available as an option on all but the base model for 2017 and 2018. In 2017, the model levels became Base, Preferred, Sport Touring, Preferred II, Essence, and Premium.

- Summary: The full type of this tire is Continental ContiProContact P215/55 R18 94H Also DOT is IP5 OF8PAO 5323. Note there are two letter "O". Either one or both of those could be the number 0. I cannot tell the difference on my tire. When I was driving in a parking lot I heard a loud noise and did not know what it was. I did not think to look at my instrumental panel so I drove around a half mile home. Then I noticed the TPMs warning and saw that the tire was completely flat. I saw sidewall damage that look like something cut into my side wall or perhaps that was the blowout. It was cut about a half inch or inch long in the outside sidewall of the tire. The tire only had about 821 miles on it. I check the pressure consistently and it always was the proper pressure as specified by the vehicle door jamb. Also my vehicle shows me the exact tire pressure when on the instrument panel. I checked it the morning before the blowout happened and the tire pressures were fine. Also I look at my tire pressure almost every time I drive (about every day) using the tire pressure indication on my instrument panel. I never hit any potholes or any curbs. The tire looked normal and felt fine when I was driving on it (until the blowout of course). Also according to the DOT it was manufactured late 2023 so it does not sound like dry rot. This seems like it could either be a manufacturing defect or installation defect of some sort. A blowout obviously is a safety risk since this could have happened on a busy highway. Luckily I got home safely. When I brought it in to the dealer for repair they thought maybe something hit the tire from the outside. I believe the dealer got rid of the tire so it would not be available for inspection. No warning before the failure occurred.

- Summary: My radar to let me know i was going to hit something didn't go offer. It has never failed before and has been overactive actually which I appreciated before. I was doing 60 with my paraplegic wife (luckily not our 5 year old as well though) in the right lane because it's safer to go slower and be there. I was distracted by a strange machine being transported on a truck to my left. This was my fault. I hear the ultimate responsibility and the majority if not all of it. I saw the road construction trucks 400 feet ahead of me at most. Maybe less than 300 and luckily no one was to my right the truck distracting me was ahead so I had room to avoid hitting the construction truck with the sign saying move over. It was doing maybe 15. I almost killed my wife. It was my fault but still the $3000 safety package failed. Almost catastrophically.

- Summary: Catastrophic control arm failure. The part is available for inspection. Problem confirmed by certified technician at Brake Master repair shop in Santa Fe NM. No visible damage to control arm prior to catastrophic part failure from apparent metal fatigue. Only 37,000 miles on this 2019 Encore. There were no indications of this problem prior to the part failure. The vehicle began making a loud clunking noise and heavy physical clunk when the brakes were applied. Because of the possible safety concerns I had the vehicle towed to the Brake Master facility. Upon inspection the control arm was seen to be broken in two. I took the problem part to the Octane GMC/Buick dealership in Santa Fe where the vehicle was purchased new and showed the part to one of the mechanics who informed me that he had seen this happen before. As this is a relatively small dealership I thought that it was significant that this mechanic had seen this failure previously. I had foot on brake and put in reverse, only to have it reverse very fast and hit a parked car! I was shocked! It had a mind of its own! This has never happened before. I do recall that sometimes when I back out of garage at home, I keep foot on brake and it seems like it wants to “go”. I read on a website that another Encore had very similar incident as mine. My son found online “Transmission slipping” problems with Buicks. I am so thankful no one was walking in the parking lot at the time it happened. Problem has not been reproduced.. police officer didn’t know if there was any recalls for this either. I put a claim in with State Farm and they recommended an auto shop to go to, a few blocks from my condo. I went today (Carstar auto) and they looked at damage. They are trying to order parts for it. He said I can drive it, but honestly, I am afraid this will happen again. I have to go to work, so I’m hoping this doesn’t happen again. I don’t know what to do. The only warning I had on dashboard was to replace the battery in my key fob. I went to O’Reilly’s Auto Store and bought battery and My friends adult son replaced it for me. Most damage is to rear. Some in front underneath I can’t see. Man at Carstar auto saw it.

- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the start-stop transmission accumulator and replace it if any bolts are missing, free of charge. The recall began December 15, 2020. I sold Hondas and Toyotas for 32 years, but I never considered buying a domestic car. However, after test driving everything in this class, the Encore won hands down for its ride, quietness, price, and standard features. Except for the Kia, it has the best warranty. I love the way it handles in traffic and on the open road. Buick has really stepped up its game for quality. Also, the price was the lowest with the new GM employee pricing. I would highly recommend this car to anyone.

This is my second Encore. I had a 2016 model, but the 2019 version has a much improved dashboard and front end styling. The car is quiet, comfortable, and relaxing to drive. It also has decent mileage, averaging 28 around town and 34 on the highway.

And she loves it! I was surprised when I heard that Buicks were one of her choices, as I thought they were for a more mature audience. I'm glad we decided on the Encore.

If you are of an older age, you may find the seats to be uncomfortable and difficult to get in and out of, which could cause discomfort in your lower back. Additionally, the touch screen displays a distracting message that tells you not to be distracted, which can be frustrating and counterproductive. The car also emits random beeps and alarms for no apparent reason, and sometimes displays inaccurate information such as low gas levels when the tank is nearly full. Furthermore, the car may beep to indicate that the remote is inside the car, even when you are still inside the car and have not yet exited. It can also display messages that are confusing or contradictory, such as saying that the remote is not detected even after you have just used it to unlock the car. Recently, a panel on the ceiling above the back window fell halfway off, which is a cause for concern. Despite these issues, I am hopeful that the dealer will be able to provide a satisfactory resolution. Although I have had some negative experiences with this car, I am still grateful for the opportunity to lease it and look forward to finding a solution to these problems.

When I took a closer look at the vehicle, I realized that the $20K+ price tag only covered the front seats. Unfortunately, there wasn't much room in the back seat or for cargo. I'm actually glad that I didn't end up buying it because I would have regretted it after just a few weeks.

This vehicle has very little trunk and rear seat space, and its handling is subpar. Despite reading 12 positive reviews, I was disappointed when I received this vehicle as a rental. I strongly advise against purchasing it.

I recently rented this car for four days and found it to be quite an interesting drive. While the proportions of the car felt a bit off, with it being tall and narrow, it did create a unique 'tree house' effect. However, I did find this a bit unsettling on the road. The fuel economy wasn't anything to brag about and the engine felt underpowered. Additionally, the car felt a bit 'cheap' due to the abundance of hard plastic and the switch gear feeling like it could fall apart at any moment. The doors also created a very hollow 'bang' when closed. On the plus side, the ApplePlay integration was well done and easy to use. Overall, while the car was functional, I personally wouldn't choose it over a slightly more expensive RAV4 that offers more space and better features.
