The Buick Encore is a subcompact crossover SUV built by General Motors from 2012 to 2022. It is subcompact crossover SUV marketed by Buick and its fourth SUV overall after the Rendezvous, Rainier, and Enclave.

The 2013, 2014 and 2015 Encore in the U.S. was offered in Base, Convenience, Leather, and Premium level models with the A14NET 1.4-liter inline-four multi-port fuel injected (MFI) VVT turbo gasoline engine rated at 128 hp (95 kW; 130 PS) @ 4900 rpm coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It was available in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions.
For 2016, a new Sport Touring second tier model was added which included an 18-inch alloy wheels with midnight silver finish, rear spoiler, body-color door handles, remote start, fog lights, and a new more powerful B14XFT Ecotec inline four-cylinder direct fuel injection VVT engine rated at 153 hp (114 kW; 155 PS) @ 5600 rpm in Encore marketing materials. However, Opel in Europe rates the engine for the Mokka at 150 hp (112 kW; 152 PS) @ 4900–6000 rpm.
The Ecotec direct-injection engine package includes Stop/Start technology to improve fuel economy and was made available as an option on all but the base model for 2017 and 2018. In 2017, the model levels became Base, Preferred, Sport Touring, Preferred II, Essence, and Premium.

THIS HAPPENED ON A MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY, I DID NOT KNOW THE VEHICLE WAS IN LIMP MODE AND AS I ACCELERATED INTO TRAFFIC I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A TRUCK FROM BEHIND. I LEARNED THROUGH EXPERIENCE, IF NO TURBO BOOST ERROR OCCURS DURING THE NEXT DRIVE CYCLE, (IE COMING HOME DOWN THE MOUNTAIN ROAD) THE PENDING CODE IS CLEARED AND THE SAME CONDITION CAN HAPPEN AGAIN, AGAIN WITHOUT SETTING A CEL.

- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
- Consequence: A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. Due to an incomplete weld on the seat hook bracket assembly, the front seats in the affected vehicles may not stay secured in place during a high load condition such as a crash.
- Consequence: A seat that does not stay secured increases the risk of occupant injury in a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the seat hook bracket assembly weld and replace the lower seat track, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on August 15, 2014. - Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Buick Encore all-wheel-drive vehicles manufactured August 23, 2012, to September 9, 2013; Verano vehicles manufactured August 8, 2012, to June 20, 2013; Chevrolet Cruze vehicles manufactured August 7, 2012, to August 16, 2013, and 2012-2014 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles manufactured May 10, 2011, to August 16, 2012 equipped with a Calix oil pan/block heater. In cold temperatures, the insulation on the engine block heater cord can become damaged, allowing the wires to be exposed.
- Consequence: Exposed wires increase the risk of electrical shock and personal injury if the cord is handled while it is plugged in.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the engine oil pan/block heater cord with a new cord that is rated for temperatures of minus 40 degree Celsius. I bought my Leather AWD in February 2014 and have driven over 65,000 miles with no issues. It's a fantastic car for commuting, especially for my 12-mile drive in and out of Boston. The car is easy to maneuver and park, and the engine is quiet. I love having a sunroof, and the mileage is excellent. While the back seat can comfortably fit friends, the car struggles to shift gears with four adults on hilly New England highways. However, it's perfect for a driver and passenger on a road trip. The back seats fold flat, making it easy to store luggage, coolers, golf clubs, and beach umbrellas. I adore the car's profile, especially the waterfall grill. I'm disappointed that the external profile has changed, and I would happily buy this car again if they ever bring back the original profile with the waterfall grill.

I purchased this car back in September 2014 and I have been really enjoying it. The gas mileage is great and it has a sporty and versatile design that is right on trend. However, I have had to replace 3 valve cover gaskets since then, and each repair has cost me upwards of $300.00. It can be quite frustrating, as I suspect there may be a defect in the engineering. Whenever the valve cover needs to be replaced, the engine light comes on and the car drives rough, sputtering like it's going to shut off. At the moment, the car has only 101,564 miles on it.

Hello! I'm an active older woman and my husband and I were looking for a vehicle with some luxury touches, a higher seating position, and a quiet interior. At first, I was hesitant about the Encore due to some negative reviews about the engine being too small and slow. However, after test driving the Encore Leather, I was completely hooked! I've been driving it for 3 months now, mostly in town with a few trips on the highway, and even one in Rocky Mountain National Park. The car purred quietly up and down the snowy and sometimes slippery mountain roads, and I was able to easily control the downhill speed in the Manual range. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend the Encore to anyone looking for a comfortable and reliable vehicle.

This is a fantastic car! It's small and compact, which makes it perfect for those who enjoy being close to their passengers. It has everything you could want in a car, but some may feel like they're riding in a bubble.

I recently had to get rid of my car due to some issues with the steering wheel column and the radio. The repairs were becoming quite costly and I decided it was time to move on. While I did have to replace a part on the passenger side roof, I'm hopeful that it will hold up better than the previous one. Overall, my experience with this car has been frustrating, and I don't think I'll be purchasing a Buick again in the future.

I recently visited the dealer to upgrade to a small SUV. I had my eye on the Encores for a while, so I test drove one and it was really nice. The car had a pearl white color, roof rack, and was the top tier of the selection with 40,000 miles. Before making the purchase, I did my research. However, after driving it for only 6 miles from the dealership to my friend's place, the check engine light turned on and the car stopped working. I had to tow it back to the dealership, and they told me that the emc was the issue and it could be replaced. But, unfortunately, the same thing happened again. After returning to the dealership, I was glad that I had a 5-day money-back guarantee, so I was covered. However, I would not recommend buying this vehicle.

I have owned many Buick/Oldsmobiles over the years, but unfortunately, this particular Buick has not met my expectations. Since purchasing it in 2017 with 36,000 miles on it, I have had to take it to the shop for several issues, thankfully all covered under warranty. It has required a new battery, a software download for the AWD, and a replacement front strut at 40,000 miles. At 61,000 miles, it developed a coolant leak and required a new turbo and water pump. Additionally, the stereo has poor sound quality and the Bluetooth function can be unreliable. The blind spot warning system is also glitchy and the steering is overly sensitive, with large blind spots in the rear and front door posts. However, the car is zippy to drive and comfortable for long trips, with excellent gas mileage and ample storage space. While I had hoped to keep this car for five years or more, I have decided to switch to Toyota. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I'm currently experiencing some issues with my car and it's in the shop for the fifth time. Thankfully, I purchased a warranty. I've had some problems with oil leaks, the AWD system, water pump, oil cooler, and two catalytic converters. The turbo is also being changed as it was suspected to be leaking oil into the catalytic converter. Additionally, the ball joints and stability bar need to be replaced. I'm feeling frustrated and disappointed with my Buick SUV and I'm considering investing in a front runner instead. I hope to have a better experience with my next vehicle.
