2021 Buick Encore problems

The Buick Encore is a subcompact crossover SUV built by General Motors from 2012 to 2022. It is subcompact crossover SUV marketed by Buick and its fourth SUV overall after the Rendezvous, Rainier, and Enclave.
The "Encore" designation was previously used by American Motors Corporation (AMC) for the subcompact two and four-door hatchback variants of the U.S.-built front-wheel drive Renault Alliance from 1984 to 1987.
First generation (2013)
The first-generation Encore is a restyled first-generation Chevrolet Trax, and shares the same styling with the European Opel/Vauxhall Mokka. It debuted at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 10, 2012, and went on sale at the end of 2012. The North American Encore is assembled at the GM Korea plant in Bupyeong, South Korea alongside the Trax. The Chinese market Encore is assembled in Shandong.
The 2013, 2014 and 2015 Encore in the U.S. was offered in Base, Convenience, Leather, and Premium level models with the A14NET 1.4-liter inline-four multi-port fuel injected (MFI) VVT turbo gasoline engine rated at 128 hp (95 kW; 130 PS) @ 4900 rpm coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It was available in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions.
For 2016, a new Sport Touring second tier model was added which included an 18-inch alloy wheels with midnight silver finish, rear spoiler, body-color door handles, remote start, fog lights, and a new more powerful B14XFT Ecotec inline four-cylinder direct fuel injection VVT engine rated at 153 hp (114 kW; 155 PS) @ 5600 rpm in Encore marketing materials. However, Opel in Europe rates the engine for the Mokka at 150 hp (112 kW; 152 PS) @ 4900–6000 rpm.
The Ecotec direct-injection engine package includes Stop/Start technology to improve fuel economy and was made available as an option on all but the base model for 2017 and 2018. In 2017, the model levels became Base, Preferred, Sport Touring, Preferred II, Essence, and Premium.

Common 2021 Buick Encore problems
The Buick Encore, a subcompact SUV, is generally considered reliable, but there are several common problems that potential buyers should be aware of, particularly for the 2017 model year.
Engine issues are prevalent in the Buick Encore, and the 2017 model year has been particularly affected. Reports indicate that engine problems began to surface at relatively low mileage, around 11,000 miles or more. These issues have led to accidents and injuries in some cases.
Faulty airbags and seatbelts are another concern for the Buick Encore, particularly for the 2015-2017 model years. GM recalled over 3.6 million vehicles, including the Encore, due to defective airbags and seatbelts that prevented frontal airbags and seatbelt pretensioners from activating during collisions.
Brake issues are also common in the Buick Encore. Owners have reported hearing noises while braking, experiencing weak and ineffective brakes, and encountering excessive vibrations and loss of control due to brake problems. These issues can be dangerous and require immediate attention.
Faulty batteries are a problem for the 2014 Buick Encore, with some drivers reporting that they had to replace their batteries every four to six weeks. This issue can be frustrating and costly, as a replacement battery may be necessary frequently.
The windshield of the Buick Encore is also prone to cracking easily, with several owners reporting this problem at relatively low mileage. Replacing the windshield can be expensive, adding to the overall cost of ownership.
For the 2021 Buick Encore, common problems include dead batteries, excessive suspension noise, and stereo system issues. Dead batteries are the most widespread complaint, with some owners reporting this problem within the first 5,000 miles. Excessive suspension noise is usually caused by worn-out bushings and can cost around $200 to fix, while stereo system issues can be resolved with software updates available at dealerships.
It is worth noting that there are no recalls on the 2021 Buick Encore, which is a positive aspect of this model year. However, regular annual maintenance costs are similar to other small SUVs, around $426 per year.
In summary, potential buyers of the Buick Encore should be aware of engine issues, faulty airbags and seatbelts, brake problems, faulty batteries, and easily cracked windshields, particularly for the 2013-2017 model years. I’ve been delaying servicing because I was told the part was on back order but now they have it in stock and I’m hoping I don’t have to pay for it since my issue is the same one that was listed in the recall.

I'm loving my new 2019 encore essence almost just as much as my 2017 encore sport touring...with only 500 miles on it I can tell that i will be just as impressed. My 2017 had only 8000miles when it was totaled from a red light runner, my milage never got lower than 30 miles per gallon in and out of town. I can't be more impressed with how safe I felt after the head on collision. I could go on and on....

I just bought this 2019 Buick Encore and I absolutely love it! The ride is incredibly smooth and the gas mileage is fantastic. It's an amazing SUV and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested.

Wonderful driving, handles well, great MPG, and luxury styling. As a first-time Buick owner, I am highly impressed. It seems like Buick is way underrated.

Your new Corolla actually rides smoother and more quietly than your 2018 Camry. The seats are much softer and more comfortable, and the 4 cyl engine is barely audible most of the time. The road noise is well hushed too due to thick under carpet insulation that the Camry doesn't have. The transmission shifts with buttery smoothness, and the front seating feels spacious despite the vehicle's small size. Overall, it's a great car! The only suggestion I have is that the climate control labels could be bigger for better legibility.

This SUV is perfect for a family of four! Although there isn't much storage space, the seats lay flat to allow for bigger items. The engine runs smoothly for a 4 cylinder and it's definitely a gas saver! Plus, the cost is great if you're on a budget!

Five months ago, we hit a deer which caused the driver's side seat belt to malfunction. Despite our repeated attempts, GMC has been unable to provide us with a replacement seat belt and has not given us any indication of when one will become available. As a result, the dealership has refused to release the car due to safety concerns. Despite our long-standing loyalty to GMC, we have been disappointed by their lack of action in resolving this issue, and we are now considering other options for our future automotive needs.

Love the Apple Car play and safety features! It's such a comfortable car for freeway miles, although the gas mileage and power could be better. Unfortunately, I had to replace the air compressor at 40,000 miles, which wasn't covered under warranty, and the Turbo Charger went out at 50,000. Currently, the check engine light is on with a slow loss of EVAP system. I'm a bit disappointed with the GM warranty and the dealerships, but I'm hopeful that we can resolve these issues. This is my first American car, and I'm hoping it won't be my last!

I recently had an opportunity to drive the Encore as a dealer loaner while my car was getting repaired. During the 4 days, I drove over 500 miles and unfortunately, I did not enjoy the experience. The seats felt cramped and there was very little legroom for both the driver and passenger. Additionally, the engine felt underpowered and the car felt sluggish on the highway, which made me feel a bit uneasy when changing lanes. The interior felt a bit cheap and the seats were not very comfortable. Although I have been a Buick owner for years, I would not consider purchasing the Encore. However, I do have a friend who recently purchased a brand new Jeep Compass and for the money, I would strongly recommend considering one of those instead of an Encore.

I had the chance to drive an Encore as a rental while my car was being repaired after an accident. At first, I was excited to see them on the road, thinking they were cute and possibly fun. When the rental company offered me one, I couldn't resist. The front of the car seemed luxurious, but upon closer inspection, the interior was made of cheap plastic on the dash and doors. However, I did enjoy the big touch screen and the features it came with. The front seats were a bit narrow, but manageable. One day, while packing my things in the back to go to work, I sat in the back to sort them so they wouldn't fall over. Unfortunately, it was very cramped back there, and I felt claustrophobic, even though I'm a little short person. The materials in the back were even cheaper than in the front. I wouldn't want to ride back there on a long trip. The trunk was also very tiny. I ended up driving all day one of the days while I had it because I had to go see clients, and it was quite uncomfortable. In my opinion, this car is not worth the price they charge for it. Keep in mind that I'm a short and little person, and I still felt cramped. Overall, I was not impressed and was glad to get my car back. This car is cheaply made and not as luxurious or fine as advertised.
