The Audi TT is a production front-engine, 2-door, 2+2 sports coupé and roadster, manufactured and marketed by Audi from 1998 to 2023 across three generations.
For each of its three generations, the TT has been based on consecutive generations of Volkswagen's "Group A" platforms, starting with its "PQ34" fourth generation. The TT shares powertrain and suspension layouts with its platform mates, including the Audi A3, like a transversely mounted front-engine, powering front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and fully independent suspension using MacPherson struts in front.
The TT's first two generations were assembled by Audi's Hungarian subsidiary, one of the world's largest engine manufacturing plants, using bodyshells manufactured and painted at Audi's Ingolstadt plant and parts made entirely by the Hungarian factory for the third generation.
The last of the 662,762 Audi TTs was manufactured in November 2023.

THE VEHICLE ALSO RUNS AT HIGHER TEMPERATURE THAN NORMAL WHEN DRIVING IN SLOWER TRAFFIC (UNDER 35MPH) I BELIEVE THE WATER PUMP USED IS PART OF THE RECALL.

WE PUT MINIMAL MILES ON THIS VEHICLE AS A SECOND AUTOMOBILE. OUR CURRENT MILEAGE IS 82,000 MILES. IN 2005, AT 53,813 MILES, WE HAD REGULAR SERVICE PERFORMED AT STEVENS CREEK AUDI, IN SAN JOSE, CA. DURING THAT VISIT, WE STATED CONCERN OVER THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL'S WARNING OF A PROBLEM WITH OUR HEADLIGHTS, LOW BEAMS OR PARKING LIGHTS. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE RUNNING LIGHT BULBS BUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL CONTINUED AND HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY WORSE WITH MORE FAILURES TO THIS DATE, SUCH AS THE GAS GAUGE DOES NOT OPERATE, THE DIGITAL READOUT IS DIFFICULT TO READ, ETC. WHEN WE INVESTIGATED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CONCERN WITH OUR TECHNICIAN RECENTLY IN SCOTTSDALE, WE LEARNED, BY LOOKING ONLINE, OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND AUDI'S FREE REPAIR OFFER (SEE INFORMATION BELOW). The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 6 recalls for different components of the 2000 Audi Tt.
- Manufacturer: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
- Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
- Summary: Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2000-2001 Audi TT Coupe, TT Roadster, 2000-2002 A4, and S4 vehicles equipped with Non-Azide Driver Air Bag Inflators (NADI) that do not contain phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. Due to a manufacturing issue, the NADI inflators may absorb moisture, possibly causing the air bag to deploy improperly in the event of a crash.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, the air bag may not properly protect the occupant, increasing the risk of serious injury or death.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the driver frontal airbag inflator with an alternative inflator, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 2, 2021. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69CJ.

- Summary: The Gates Corporation (Gates) is recalling certain aftermarket Tru-Flow Water Pumps, part number TFW 41127, sold at certain NAPA Auto Parts and/or installed by automotive service technicians after November 1, 2013 (and manufactured August 2013 through October 2013) that have a black-colored pulley/sprocket or do not have 'US9377' stamped on the water pump housing. These service replacement parts were sold for use in model year 1999-2005 Audi A4, 2000-2006 Audi TT, 1998-2005 Volkswagen Beetle, 1999-2006 Golf, 1999-2008 and 2011-2013 Volkswagen Jetta, and 2000-2005 Volkswagen Passat. In the affected water pumps, the pulley or sprocket that turns the timing belt may develop microfractures causing the timing belt to fail.
- Consequence: A failure of the timing belt may cause the engine to shut down, potentially increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
- Remedy: Gates will notify owners, and dealers will replace the water pump, free of charge. The recall began during May 2014. Owners may contact The Gates Corporation at 1-303-744-1911.

- Consequence: CORROSION COULD IMPEDE THE FREE MOVEMENT OF THE CONTROL ARM.

We absolutely adore this car! We bought it brand new on 3/1/00 and have been in love with it ever since. Although we've had a few minor issues, they were nothing to worry about. People still gaze at it like it's a work of art. It appeals to everyone, from kids to seniors, regardless of race, age, or background. Everyone wants to know, 'What kind of car is that?' And driving it is just as enjoyable today as it was two and a half years ago.

I really enjoyed the design aspect of the TT. Although I have had a few frustrating repairs, overall I have greatly enjoyed this car and I am planning to purchase a new TT when the next generation makes it to showrooms. I would definitely recommend the TT to anyone, with a side note that repair bills can be expensive, but that's just the nature of German cars.

Driving my dream car is great but owning it can be a hassle. Fortunately, I bought the extended warranty which helped me out a lot. However, I've decided to sell my TT and use the money to travel to Europe. While I'll miss parking in sports car row, I won't miss the frequent trips to the dealer and the financial burden. I used to get nervous when the gas warning tone went off, but now I won't have to worry about it anymore. This was my second German car, but I'm not sure if I'll buy another one. If you do decide to buy one, make sure to get AAA road service. Audi could improve their customer satisfaction and support.
