Common Suzuki Forenza 2007 problems
The Suzuki Forenza, produced between 2004 and 2008, has been reported to have several common issues based on complaints from owners. Here are some of the most frequently reported problems:
- Check Engine Light on with Code P0133: This issue is related to the oxygen sensor, which measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust system. When the check engine light comes on with code P0133, it typically indicates that the oxygen sensor is not functioning properly, which can lead to decreased fuel efficiency and increased emissions.
- High and Low Beam Head Lamps May Stop Working: Some owners of the Suzuki Forenza have reported issues with the headlights, including both high and low beams stopping working. This can be a safety hazard, especially when driving at night. The cause of this issue is not explicitly stated, but it is suggested that it may be due to a defect in the daytime running lamp module that allows excessive heat to build up until it sparks a flame.
- Lack of Power Due to Failed Throttle Actuator: The throttle actuator is responsible for controlling the amount of air that enters the engine. When it fails, it can lead to a lack of power and difficulty accelerating. This issue has been reported by several owners of the Suzuki Forenza, and it can be caused by a variety of factors, including wear and tear, debris, or faulty wiring.
- Transmission Issues: Transmission problems are a common issue in the Suzuki Forenza, with several owners reporting issues such as the transmission jumping out of gear or not shifting properly. This can be a serious issue, as it can lead to a loss of control while driving. The cause of this issue is not explicitly stated, but it is suggested that it may be due to wear and tear or faulty components.
- Engine Issues: Engine problems are also a common issue in the Suzuki Forenza, with several owners reporting issues such as the engine not turning over or the engine head gasket blowing. This can be a serious issue, as it can lead to a complete breakdown of the vehicle. The cause of this issue is not explicitly stated, but it is suggested that it may be due to wear and tear, faulty components, or debris.
In summary, the Suzuki Forenza has several common issues based on complaints from owners, including check engine light issues, headlight problems, lack of power due to failed throttle actuators, transmission issues, and engine problems. These issues can range from minor inconveniences to serious safety hazards, and it is important for owners to address them promptly to ensure the safe and reliable operation of their vehicle.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM

- VIN: KL5JD56Z67K
- Components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: I JUST BOUGHT A 2007 SUZUKI FORENZA ON MARCH 10TH, I DROVE IT FROM THE DEALER SHIP TO MY HOME, AROUND 40 MILES, DROVE IT AT 55 AND 45 AND 35 ALL GOOD UNTIL THE LAST MILE OF MY JOURNEY. I WAS GOING A STEADY 35 AND I COULD TELL MY CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN WITHOUT ME LETTING MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AT ALL. I LET OFF AND REAPPLIED GAS AND IT ACTED NORMAL FOR 1/16 OF A MILE AND DID IT AGAIN BUT WHEN I LET OFF AND REAPPLIED IT ACCELERATED A LITTLE AND THEN SLOWED DOWN AGAIN. I LOOKED AT MY GAGES AND MY TACHOMETER WAS GOING FROM 1500 TO 2000 RPMS MAKING THE CAR BOUNCE BACK AND FORWARD, AND SO I LET OFF AND REAPPLIED ENOUGH TIMES TO MAKE IT HOME. I'M LUCKY THERE WASN'T ANYONE ON THE ROAD. AND I DROVE IT ACROSS A 4 MILE LONG BRIDGE AND THANK GOD IT DIDN'T HAPPEN THERE! I SEE THAT THERE ARE ALOT OF COMPLAINTS TS ON THIS ISSUE AND SUZUKI IS CLAIMING IT'S ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.. YOU NEVER CAN TELL WHEN IT'S GOING TO GO OUT AND SOME PEOPLE HAVE TO REPLACE THEM EVERY 9 MONTHS.. THEY SHOULD MAKE THE PART GOOD ENOUGH TO LAST LONGER. IT'S A SAFETY HAZZARD IN ALOT OF PEOPLE'S OPINIONS. PULLING INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC CAN BE PRETTY SCARY WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW IF YOUR CAR IS GOING TO MOVE 5 FEET AND THEN NOT REGISTER YOUR FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. IT'S DANGEROUS.

Suzuki Forenza 2007 recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the Suzuki Forenza 2007.
- Manufacturer: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc.
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
- Summary: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Forenza vehicles, and 2005-2008 Reno vehicles manufactured from September 1, 2003, through July 30, 2008. In the affected vehicles, heat may be generated in the headlamp switch or daytime running light (DRL) module which could melt the headlamp switch or the DRL module.
- Consequence: If the heat generated within the headlamp switch or DRL module located on the left side of the steering column melts the headlamp switch or DRL module, there is an increased risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Suzuki will replace the signal switch and add a jumper relay kit and will replace the DRL Module in teh instrument panel harness. Suzuki distributed to owners an interim letter on July 30, 2014. The recall began October 29, 2014. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-934-0934. Suzuki's number for this recall is XA.
- Manufacturer: AMERICAN SUZUKI MOTOR CORP.
- Components: SEAT BELTS:FRONT:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY
- Summary: ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FRONT SEAT BELT TONGUE WILL NOT LATCH INTO THE BUCKLE AND, IN RARE CASES, EVEN THE LOCKED TONGUE WILL POP OUT BY LOW STRETCHING FORCE. IF THE BUCKLE DOES NOT LATCH COMPLETELY, THE BUCKLE COULD RELEASE WITHOUT PRESSING THE RELEASE BUTTON.
- Consequence: THESE BUCKLE MALFUNCTIONS, WHICH COULD PREVENT A PERSON FROM USING THE SEAT BELT OR COULD CAUSE THE SEAT BELT TO FAIL TO FUNCTION AS DESIGNED, CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY IN A CRASH.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLES WITH THE IMPROVED PART FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 31, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SUZUKI AT 1-800-934-0934.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with this car. I bought it with 45k miles and just sold it at 112k. Overall, I had a great experience with this car. As long as you keep up with the maintenance, everything should be fine. Take care!
-
I have to say that despite the negative reviews on the gas mileage, my car does great. I usually get 25 mpg, which is a significant improvement from my previous SUV that only got 16-17 mpg, even though I mainly drive in the city. The car is inexpensive because that's how it was built, so naturally, there are some downsides to it. The one I dislike the most is the paint wearing out on most of the interior. It would have been better to leave it the original grey or tan plastic colors underneath. There is one more thing I don't like - whenever I start it up and immediately shift gears, it jumps really quickly and then returns to normal. Other than the above complaints, it's been a great car so far.
-
Great to hear that you're enjoying your Suzuki! It's awesome that you've been able to take some long trips with your family and that it's been reliable for you. The gas mileage is also a plus. It's great that you got a good deal on it too. Thanks for sharing your positive experience and we hope your wife enjoys her Suzuki as well!
-
I recently had the opportunity to review my vehicle as I approach my trade-in time. Despite purchasing it with 114,000 miles on the clock, I have since driven it for an additional 42,000 miles without any major issues. Although I did encounter a transmission range sensor problem shortly after purchasing it, this was quickly resolved and I have not experienced any further issues since. The car rides smoothly, achieves decent fuel economy, and boasts an attractive interior. While I have noticed a slight odor when the heat is on and the car is parked, I have yet to identify the source of this. Overall, I would highly recommend this vehicle to future buyers!
-
Yes, this is a cheap car, but I paid a cheap price. I got what I paid for. It has been incredibly reliable since I bought it brand new in Nov 2006, and I have driven it hard without any problems. I wasn't aware of the recall on seat belts, so I should probably check on that. However, I have never experienced any issues with this car, unlike some others. Let me know if you have any questions!

Pretty decent vehicle for the price! You have a sunroof and a few of the extras and it's a good car. It has pretty good fuel consumption compared to your old Ford Taurus and handles pretty well. If you find a good deal on it, it's definitely worth considering! You'll enjoy good visibility while driving, with only a couple of blind spots. Although there was one real problem with the car - it didn't start once in P but started when you put it in N.

Hello! If you're considering buying this car, I wanted to share my experience with you. Unfortunately, I've had some issues with it. The transmission went out at 28,000 miles, even though I had purchased the extended protection plan. When I contacted Suzuki of America corp., they informed me that I would have to pay a dealership fee of $600 to replace parts that should have been covered under warranty. Additionally, I've had a number of other problems since purchasing the car brand new in 2007, including issues with the valve cover seal, cooling fan bolts, oil pressure sending unit, shocks and struts, rims, and cup holder. I just wanted to give you a heads up so you can make an informed decision. Thanks for reading!
Karson Batz 2024-10-01
This car brand has been problematic since its purchase, with issues such as tire replacements, alignment problems, and faulty airbag sensors. Despite spending $1200 on repairs a few months ago, the problems persist. Due to these recurring issues, I cannot recommend purchasing a Suzuki and I will not be buying one again in the future.
Zechariah Hoeger 2024-09-23
When I was looking to buy a car, I decided that a 4-door sedan would be the best option for me. However, I wasn't sure where to start. If you're interested in buying this type of car, I would suggest doing some research first. While I did purchase my car from a pay here buy here, I know that it's not always the best place to get a car. As someone who was just starting to establish some credit, it was difficult to find somewhere to get a car. When I saw this particular car, I was very intrigued by it. It was my favorite color, had great gas mileage, and was supposed to be reliable. Unfortunately, it turned out to be quite the opposite. I ended up spending a lot of money on maintenance and repairs. While I did have to replace some normal wear and tear items like tires and windshield wipers, I didn't expect to spend so much money on repairs. Within 8 months of getting the car, I had to replace the engine, fuel pump, radiator, and spark plugs. I even had to have the car sitting for 4 months because the engine pistons had bent inside of the engine. In total, I only had the car for about 3 months out of the year because it kept breaking down. Eventually, I had to sell it to a shop for scraps because it became a danger to not only me but also to the cars around me and my family. If you're looking to buy a car, I would suggest doing your research and finding a reliable dealer. It's been a year since I sold my car, and I'm so glad I did. I found out that the buy here pay here place I got it from didn't know much about the car and only cared about making money. If you're looking for a car for your teenager, please consider official shops and make sure the car is thoroughly checked out. Also, choose a different car. While the gas mileage was great with my old car and I only had to fill it up a few times a month, it wasn't worth the hassle, especially for long distances. I also discovered that my car had a lot of negative reviews, and I experienced almost all of the problems within the first 8 months of owning it. If that doesn't convince you that it's not safe, I don't know what will! Take care and stay safe.

I purchased this car brand new in March of 2008. While it has been garage kept and I avoid driving in snow and ice, I have noticed some surface rust on the roof and door. The paint job is not the best quality and I experienced some swirl marks after taking it to an automatic car wash. However, I now hand wash it to avoid any further damage. The gate can be heavy and difficult to open and close, and unfortunately, this car does not have cruise control which can be tiring on longer trips. Additionally, the road noise can be quite loud and the seats are not very comfortable. Despite these issues, I am still in the process of paying off the car and remain hopeful that it will continue to serve me well.
