2016 Volvo S80 problems

The Volvo S80 is an executive car produced by the Swedish manufacturer Volvo Cars from 1998 to 2016 across two generations. It took the place of the rear-wheel-drive S90 as Volvo's flagship sedan.
The first generation (1998–2006) was made available for the 1999 model year. It has since been built at the Torslanda Works in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a few 1999 model year cars for the North American market built at Volvo's Halifax Assembly plant. Unlike most Volvo models, it did not have a station wagon version for its first generation.
The second generation (2006–2016) was released in 2006 as a model year 2007 car. It has an estate version, the third generation of the Volvo V70. In June 2007, the S80 scored the highest "good" rating in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash test performance for frontal, side, and rear impacts, earning it the IIHS Top Safety Pick.
The model was replaced by the second generation S90 in the later half of 2016.

- Summary: I have a 2016Volvo S80. this is my 7th Volvo I have owned. 4 Months ago my car stalled in the middle of ther road. I had no power with the gas petal. Truck behind me trird not to hit me and our sides touched scapping my car and passenger mirrow. The police offier did not charge either of us. I thought I had bad gas?? Took into my mechanic who only works on volvos he di 75,000 service work and changed the oil. I told him about what happened. Two weeks ago My car light came on no oil pressure stop immediately again was like several months ago i had no power with gas petal. I pulled over light went off. My mechanic was closed at that time so I went to Advance Auto. I have no measure stick for oil you have to go through the car system to check oil level. It stated not low however we put in a quart of Synethic oil and I dropped it off at my mechant. He called me the next day. He stated their was no oil in my car at all and their was no leak. Changed oil new filter another $150.00. He did some research on my car. My car is a year included in a class action lawsuit for faulty engine pistons problem. This lawsuit was settled out of court so no one knows for how much. So I am risking my life with a car that will require a new engine appox $8000.00. Volvo has never recalled these cars. I am afraid to drive it now!!!! A 7 time Volvo owner. You see all kinds of stupid recalls but when your engine stops in the middle of the road this is very dangerous. My mechanic states I need to take to a dealership for this problem. Called Volvo Midlothian VA they can not even look at my car till September. I Have called the other dealership in Richmond VA and they are doing some research and get back to me. If you google this their are 100,s of owners having the same problems that my car has and not one recall.

I recently upgraded from a 2015 Volvo XC60 to a 2016 Volvo S80 Sedan and I'm thrilled with my decision. The S80 has a similar engine to the XC60, minus the supercharger, but it feels lighter and faster. The cabin is incredibly quiet and the controls are well laid out. The 7-inch screen in the center of the dash for Navigation is helpful without being distracting. The Bluetooth works great and the stereo sounds wonderful. The drive is smooth and enjoyable, and while some may consider this car 'boring', I find it to be a pleasure to drive. It's a well thought out, luxury car that is 10-15K less expensive than comparable BMW or MBZ models. Plus, it has the best 5-star crash safety ratings! The only minor concern is that these cars tend to lose value quickly, but that just means they're a steal as used cars. I plan to keep this car for at least 5 years, so I'm not worried about that at all.

Hi there! I noticed that my black Volvo S80 has about 4500 miles on it. This is actually my second Volvo - I traded in my 03 S60 for this one. So far, I'm really happy with it! The build quality and materials are much improved compared to the S60. The only thing I've noticed is that the engine noise can be a bit intrusive at cruising speeds, which is surprising for a car that costs this much. I test drove Audi, Volkswagen, and Lexus, but ultimately chose Volvo because of the price. Overall, I'm really happy with my choice!

I absolutely love my Volvo! My first one was an XC90, and while it was being serviced, I was given a 2010 S80 loaner. I was so impressed with it that I ended up purchasing one just 3 months later. Although I had originally wanted the V8, I'm so glad I went with the turbo - it's a great second choice. The sport suspension and all the bells and whistles make for an amazing driving experience. And let's talk about those seats - they're the most comfortable I've ever sat in! All of my passengers comment on how comfortable, smooth, and stylish the car is. The cabin design is simple yet elegant, with easy-to-use controls. And let me tell you, this car is fast! I rarely get beat off the line by all those higher-end sports sedans. It's like a well-kept secret - shh, don't tell too many others, I like being different.

Out of all the usual suspects from BMW, MB, Lexus, and Audi, I found myself liking the S80 T6 the most. Sure, it has a couple of quirks, but what car doesn't? The I6 turbo is incredibly responsive, produces great noises, and is super smooth - even more so than the competitors' V6 engines, and on par with the turbo I6 from BMW. I opted for the dynamic package, which really makes for a great handler without any undue harshness. Plus, the lowered suspension and package-specific wheels give it a more stylish and aggressive look. All in all, it's a great car!

I got this car for the technology package, since my father is getting old and has already been in more than one major accident. The car works great and is at the pinnacle of safety features, such as the pedestrian sensing camera, auto brakes, and cruise control that distances itself from the car ahead. However, Volvo seems to have forgotten that most of their customers are elderly. I just received a call from my father saying that he doesn't know how to turn off the defroster and that the window has been fogging his windows. He is still struggling to control the AC, even after having the car for months. Volvo, if you are reading this, please consider making the controls simpler and more intuitive for your customers.

The leather seats may not be as appealing during the freezing temperatures of January. I realized that my S80 does not have heated seats, which was a detail I overlooked when I purchased the car last August.
